UPDATE : 25 March
ADDON DESCRIPTION
=================
This addon represents generic US Special Operations and plain clothed units (SF, CIA, Contractors, etc) units by supplying default ARMA models using custom textures.
Included are units in woodland, tri-color desert, CQB and civilian clothing.
This is the final version of these units. If something is broken I'm not sure when or if I'll be able to update them.
Thanks to Wolle, the missions should now work.
You have to be updated to at least 1.05 for these to work.

Awesome work mate (goes without saying really). Downloading now.
Thanks. I was hoping to get the other thread just moved over here, but this is better I guess. I haven't tested them much, or the updated missions Wolle sent me. Hope it all works since I'm not touching them any more, lol.

It looks awesome, great work!
Just a quick question. Are the included missions for multi or single player?

You can play the missions in both SP and MP. However MP has not been tested at all.
Thanks, I am going to try them right away! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/pistols.gif

Thats what i expected to read, my imagination tells me that someone could create an interesting African mod by using and editing existing Arma content.
Government, UN and militia (civie) fighters.
Its off topic though... nvm this and congrats on the release.

Where do you extract the mission files to?
For SP use you extract them to your ..\ArmA\Missions folder. If you want to try them in MP they go to ..\ArmA\MPMissions.
I've got a cool suggestion... for the Civilian SF units, maybe you could make the clothes under the armors random... as in, random colors. It would help a lot.
So far my favorite Unit's! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif

Too many problems in the past with random textures. I've done several addons that tried it and they all failed, so even if I had the tools I highly doubt I could do it. There have been ways to do it, but non that worked well.
And thanks for the nice comments http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
You could explain to me step the step the installation, because me unziped the file in the addon folder according to the instructions and nothing doesn't happen. Excuse, it is that I am inexperienced
Put the file ebu_socom1.pbo in your addons folder. Make sure it actually is in the folder and not in a folder inside the addons folder. For the missions to work put them directly in the missions folder. For the missions to work you need to put the files PKS_Gang.pbo and G85_Editor.pbo directly in your addons folder.

Make sure the pbo. file is exposed in the addon folder then the units should be present in your editor under 'units'.

Besides the very well done units, I really enjoyed the missions and the variety of them.
Very cool mission when you have to clean the hotel in Chantico. Almost feels like playing SWAT or R6. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
The only missions that doesn't end is the one where I have to rescue 3 US soldiers from the factory. But no problem I endmissioned it.
Thanks Ebud for bringing a very good addons WITH mission designed for it.
This should be the standard for every quality addon!

The mission should end when you (the sniper) arrives at the checkpoint (marked as CP).
I had a lot of ideas to improve the mission but wasn't able to implement because I ran out of time. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I died as the sniper, Teamchanged to another player, rescued the soldiers went to the CP point, nothing happened. Went to the other CP nothing happend, ran around a bit and nothing happened. So I endmissioned. Not a big trouble anyway.

I can't seem to play all the missions :/ it says something about it being dependent on addons tha have been removed, I've even reinstalled and re-patched ArmA, but I'm still getting the same error :/ some missions work though, the hotel-assault, desert sniper and woodland sniper for instance.

I really enjoy using your new units, and as someone who has operated in the middle east, I can say they look as spot on as any I have *ever* seen. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I do have a question, though - I seem to get some kind of conflict when running with another mod - the modern warfare sound mod (just the sounds, not the other configuration tweaks version). When I launch Arma using this mod in the shortcut, the addon units do not show up. I've installed the addon files to both the sound mod's addon directory and to the regular Arma addon directory. If I don't run Arma with the sound mod enabled, I don't have this problem. Am I missing something here? Is there a way to have both enabled at the same time? I played OFP for a long time, and never ran into any problem like this, I know a lot has changed since then, but I don't see how the two would conflict. Anyway, thanks for the awesome addon, and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Dear Sir,
Would you seriously consider adding to this pack a SF Soldier with a "Green Beret" and a couple of other Special Operations Types like:
USAF Para-rescueman (Like a medic, but with a larger combat load out)
USAF Combat Controller
USAF Security Force Member
Marine Force Recon
It is very hard to make mission without all the players, and these days we truely operate as one force.
Hello ebutt,
I want
New gear models
New weapon models
Better textures for all new models
I want Delta Force models
I want Navy SEALs
I want United States Special Operations Command ( USSOCOM ) Parachute Team
I want USMC Scout / Snipers
I know the modding tools are not out, and all you can do is reskin BIS models, but i need them by next week for a mission im making.

No SF soldier would wear his Green Beret in country, it isn't Vietnam anymore. Further, all berets in game are facing the wrong direction.
The rest is done with simple texturing and could probably be done in 5 minutes.
Q. How many SOF soldiers wear rank or indentifying patches and what not while in country?
A. Not many. Most who do are not leaving the wire anyways.
Go ahead and argue, it's not like I'm in SOF or anything.

To Clavicula_nox4817,
I am well aquitted with those facts and the way Spec Ops work as I do work for the Department of Defense. The request was just that, a request for an addon to use in a computer game. I don't intend to use SF personnel with thier "Green Beret" on in a actual combat mission but for training situation and eye candy. As you pointed out, I would use them during those situations when they do not leave the wire, such as training roles to friendly countries. Or in cut scenes and other such map making ventures. As the list of addons and islands grow I can see where this could be used and quite frankly Vietnam Mission were quite popular in OFP and will no doubt be popular in the future. In regards to the Beret facing the wrong way, this is quite frankly a trivial thing in absence of the new modding tools. I do not understand the need for the hostile remark but I will give you the benefit of doubt that it was not your intent or your vision on the use of such addon is not as board as mine.
Dear EBud,
I would like to thank you for your work, effort in developing such addons.

Sorry, my post was quite a bit harsher than I intended. I guess I get irritated when I or another person who is quite a bit qualified to answer a question or give input is argued with by someone who posts a random Youtube video or something.
I pre-emptively assumed that would happen. Sorry.
Personally, the beret facing the wrong way would never allow me to make anything with our insignia on it. I would look at it and cringe. I look at the RACS "Ribola" officer, and the fact that he is covered in random US Army insignia (including the SF crest), or the SLA pilots wearing Air Assault wings, all of that just makes me cringe.
Plus, I had a bad landing on a jump a few hours ago so I'm in a bad mood anyways.
*edit*
Read my post again, and shit, I'm sorry again for being an asshole.

NP, I understand fully and we all have bad days. Working in that five sided puzzle palace I have had my fair share as well. But I think we could agree that having one Spec OPs addon package that includes as many of the Special Operators from all the branches of the services would be a nice feature. And who knows maybe someone will see what we are talking about and will correct the Beret.
It would indeed be nice if we could get the Flash on the left side of the beret, along with the correct "Fold" or "Lie". I can't stand the pizzia hat looks either, I always hated having to break in a new one. And I will not lie to you I would be estatic to see the some USAF PJs, Security Forces and Command Controllers make it into a addon pack, because that was the service I was in before I retired and took this GS-12 Job. I will admit it, I am proud of my branch of service what they can do, and can bring to the table. Now if we could get the BAS heliocopters ported over, a Jolly Green, a few of those AFSOC C-130s.... sorry for my rambling.
I hope you will get well quick and "GO GREEN MACHINE!"
I kept these generic for a few reasons.
Custom units for each branch and specific units within that branch greatly increase the size of the addon. This addon by itself is over 90 megs. Now add in all the extra stuff your asking about. Not that many people would like to download a 400 meg addon even if it covers a broad range of units. I did this already with VTE. I had Seals, Force Recon, LRRPS, SF, SOG, the list goes on. And from what I could tell it got very very little use even from Nam era players. The models were to me, the best done in OFP, same for the textures, but it was to me, a case of too many options and too big of a DL, or so it seemed to me.
Also what if someone JUST wanted say, PJs. Should they have to DL a 400meg addon just to play with them?
Then I wanted to create sample missions for each type of unit. Now multiply those by the number of extra units. Thats more work than I'm willing to do.
It also took a couple of months to make them, and by the end I just wanted them out as fast as I could get them out the door.
Then, lastly, all the source texture files are gone from a case of a botched late night backup disaster.
So, as much as I like the idea, I'm not going to be the one doing them. Just wait. Once the tools eventually come out I bet you'll see a whole bunch of Seals, PJs, CCTs, etc.
edit: Also, right now, to add all of the things your asking, they would just be reskins and it just wouldn't be quite right. Your better off waiting for units with custom modeling.
So this means we won't be getting new SF guys from you? all the hard work we've done for you, and this s how you repay us? this is a very sad day.

Outside of a dinner at an embassy, and those are often out of uniform now, I don't recall wearing a beret during training. The exceptions to this were and are working at Bank Hall at SWC (USAJFKSWCS) - this includes associated facilities, or else doing a static display for visiting dignitaries or a presentation (aka dog and pony show)...and that isn't even training.
The beret is a garrison headgear and not one worn in a training situation, even inside the wire in another country. Initial introductions to students entering a training evolution such as SFAS may find cadre wearing berets - for example initial arrivals at Mackall. This is done for impact. Otherwise, it is PCs and boonie caps.

Awesome work. I especially like the CQB version. This was one of the first addons I have downloaded and one of my favorites. The only thing I could even say in hopes of making this addon better would simply be a request for headgear, possibly a model without a helmet, maybe one with a patrol cap or ball cap, or one of my favorites the drive-on rag. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif Anyway awesome work in any event http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Please, m8. They would probably fit great on the PMC Mogadishu Map. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Well do the old release work with 1.08? im really looking forward to a new replacement pack for SF?
No time Ebud? Pffffft...put RL1.0 and your other mods on hold!

Is there any way to get these models working in pre-existing missions (Such as Evolution?) If there is, someone help me out on how to do it!

@<hidden>
Yes there is a way to use these in pre-existing missions. As a matter of fact, the gentleman who's post is directly above yours released a fantastic replacement file for Ebud's SF's.
It replaces all default BIS SF's with Ebud's. Now with Evolution(SP version at least) I've found that any SF replacement file will only replace your character and any SF you recruit, after reaching that rank of course. The other team members you recruit(AT, Gren, Support, medic) are not replaced by the SF replacement pack from ColonelSandersLite since they are infantry.
Also, just in case you didn't know.... There are many different replacement packs for other user made SF and Infantry units and vehicles. Just look for any addon that has "replacement pack" in the title. Armaholic.com has a most of them as do the other sites.
Alright enough of my blabbing. Here's a link to CSL's Ebud SF replacement pack:

havent figured out why, but when i use ur replacement mod and EBU´s textures, arma crashes when i go into editor, placing a SF unit and choose Preview. im using XAM1.3 (copied the pbo´s into XAM1.3/addon folder) any suggestions?

Posting the last few error messages from your arma.rpt file would probably help diagnose it.
I would prefer if you did that in the thread for the replacement pack (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=70;t=62773) so anybody who uses it can spot the problem and steps taken.
Just in case you don't know, arma.rpt is found in the place arma saves your user files. I'm not positive what that is exactly since I have mine set to be c:\games\arma\users\, but if I remember, it's something like c:\documents and settings\yourwindowsusername\application data\arma\.
I'll grab a copy of XAM soon and see if I can't isolate the problem myself. I'm betting that it's some sort of conflict.

Just to throw out a quick possiblity, Doesn't the XAM mod have its own SF uniform change? Therefore if you add a replacement pack into the mix, you would be trying to tell Arma to put two uniforms on one solider... hence, the crash.

That could do it.
sorry guys i fixed it, i had another CSL replacement pbo inside the xam addon folder, it works flawlessly with xam, thx a lot guys!
BTW wouldnt it be easy to make a default unit replacement with EBU´s textures?

I downloaded the replacement pack and when I go into editor and preview a unit, I crash, and when I play multiplayer, I see the default unit skins! Did I do something wrong or is one of my other mods interfering with it? My mods are Chammy's Sound Mod, Sixth Sense Pack 1, and Ebud's Woodland Replacement.

Twiggy,
If you get this message most likely you don't have Ebud's SF addons installed properly. In the post that's two above mine it says you are using "Ebud's Woodland Replacement". Are you using the Mod folder installation method? If you are check in the mod folder you made for Ebud. Make sure you have both Ebud's Woodland Replacement(or one of the other camo styles) and the actual .pbo file from Ebud "ebu_soco1". In order to play with a user created unit you need both the unit .pbo and the replacement.pbo. They both need to be together, whether you use the mod folder method or just toss em in your AddOns folder. As far as the chammy's mod and SIX_pack1 are concerned neither should cause a problem.

Ok I did that when I play the Test mission, all the units are wearing the new skins but not me. I'm still wearing the default skin.
EDIT:
Ah I get it now, I misunderstood the title. But how do you play as a sniper wearing the replacement skin?
EDIT AGAIN:
Ok never mind.... I'm just an idiot http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif

No, I'm not changing much to this at all. I have had a newish version on my hd for weeks, but since working on CWR I haven't touched it. Only when most CWR work is done will I revisit it, and that's only to finish what I started to edit on them which is making the CQB units have the protec helmet. Sorry.
after spending years converting opf resistance addons to work with opf 1.46 it is absolutely amazing to install those marvelous addons without a hassel http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Can you make a pbo with only the civilian guys? I know nothing about configurating things like this, but if i knew how to do it, i would do it myself.
And is it possible to make the civilian guys work with the 1.4 version of the game?
nice work man
only one problem i have with it is that psd1 guy doesnt have any textures it says something about the config bin and it cant load a certain paa

I don't think that's a problem caused by Ebud's SF but by a 3rd custom made addon you are using.
What other addons are you using with Ebud's SF?

Well, to be honest i use a shitload of addons. The size of my addon folder is like 10gigabytes.
Edit: is there some way i could find out what addon might be causing this?
Flat!!!

Take all addons out and add them 20 by 20 and test every time... If it stops working take half away if you you still get errors get half away...

if your using a replacement mod then you should post the question in that thread. The units themselves are not bugged.

No, not using a replacement mod, what I'll do is next time it happens I'll copy down the txt of the failure message and post it back here!
Thanks, eventually I'll update this and if it really is a bug with these and not another addon conflicting I'll fix them.

Cheers mate, love the work!
The fault reads as follows:
File ebu_soco1\nmp\dat1\res_soldier_sabot_body.rvmat,line0:'raP':'*' encountered instead of '='.
Please note, were I put a * in the above, that showed a square when reporting fault, but could not replicate for the purpose of this!
Thanks.
Thanks, I'll clean that up, but not anytime soon sorry to say.
