nice, a new campaign!
ill check it out this week, thanks! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
A interesting, a first user made campaign !
Do you have any more info : number of missions, type of missions ?
Definitely going to give it a try... Thanks !
Malick
testing.... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
The campaign consists of 5 missions. Not a big one, but hope interesting.... It's a bit cruel, as any war though....

A interesting, a first user made campaign !
Actually, the first one was the PMC one. Then came another one which name I forget, and then there is this one.
I'll check this one out. It sounds sweet.
Problem with the second mission - he tells you to take an SVD, but it's the one weapon NOT in the crates....
The SVD rifle must be in one of the crates.... The campaign was tested twice - in both cases there was the rifle http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
restarted the mission a couple of times and no SVD - I took a PK instead http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif and made my way down to tiberia. Raised some hell there and fought my way back to arcadia - been in all the marked buildings, but the mission doesn't want to end....
Shame, cos it seems like a pretty good campaign otherwise.
update: ok, managed to get mission to finish but still no SVD. ah well. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Nice to finally have a politically unbiased campaign in ArmA http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/icon_rolleyes.gif
Still, the missions are nice and I'm enjoying it.
about the second mission: i think you are meant to take the ak with snipersights (pso), not a dragunov.
You could explain that better in the text message...
First mission i played in its entirety: it was the first mission with you as a artillery guy. i liked that very much! Even managed to down the cobra with it! That was fun!
One minor thing: i noticed you use some copyrighted music in your movies. Don't know if that is a problem but thats not entirely legal...?
Good campaign sofar!
Thanks for the feedback! As for the second mission, the crates are too close and perhaps you always open the one that has the net over it... Try to point to the woodden crate more precisely before opening it... i need to fix that though in version 1.01 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

There is an SVD in crate on second mission but you have to get from single wooden crate not the pile of crates.
But I liked the 1st mission but having issues with second at moment but I'm sure I'll find a way past it.
Actually, the first one was the PMC one. Then came another one which name I forget, and then there is this one.
Hey, I've just realized you were right !
Thanks for pointing me that : I'll have another campaign to test.
By the way, I tried the Fedain campaign. In fact, I got killed during the first mission. First, by the airstrike. Next, by an Abrams... I suck !
Malick
i played all missions now and i must say that i was very amused by it; kept me "into it".
There is one thing about this campaign that irritated me a bit (sorry):
In the second mission you are rescued by a civilian who takes you to the res camp in the desert.
This guy managed to stop and get out evry 100 meters or so, lies down on his belly for 5 secs and comes back in.....
Maybe this guy should be driving in "careless"mode or something to prevent him from getting out all the time.
Nothing else that really was buggy, just this mission needs some work imho.
Exellent work overall; hope you make more campaigns in future! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Nice campaign (difficult so far http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif ), with nice cutscenes and nice intro music http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I had also problem with 2 mission, driver left car about 20 times before he reached camp.
Thanks : ) I'm glad that you like the campaign. Yeah, the civilian leaves the car too often in the second mission. The issue is that he goes in Safe mode, no fire, and I couldn't do anything to fix this - it looks like there is some bug in the game...
Havent played your campaign yet, but sure i will...
about the civilian issue - try to force him to careless mode with some script loop that will change his status every 1 second or less - if you set him in careless mode he will automaticly switch to safe mode due to fsm files that uses Arma AI...
Thanks for the hint. I'll try to do this.
Enjoyable mini campaign.
Realy enoyed the 2nd mission.
I took the snipers rifle and headed too tibria killing everyone appart from the driver of the m113,then moved to the outskirts of cayo and took out most of the troops and mg nests.
Then i went into cayo taking out a the last few soldiers & stole 1 of the cobras and went on the rampage taking out the humvee's,strykers and the 2 m1a1's,ended up chasing down the littlebird and shooting that down before the mission ended
I noticed some things you might like to look at fixing!
some of the enemy are carring us weapons m4's ect while others seem to be using ak's,might be intentional but seems odd!
And i'm also stuck on the risky raid mission,i stole the supply truck no problem then headed for the meeting point at fd65 across country and ran into a stryker but it didn't attack me although i was only 30 yards away from it,so got out of the supply truck and grabbed an AT launcher and blew it up,driver and gunner bailed after the first hit & died when the stryker exploded
Arrived at fd65 meeting point with the supply truck intact but mission deosn't want to end for some reason?
Hope you carry on working on this,it's a blast! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Having fun, but struggling on the first mission, when the M1A1s appear in the distance, my gun gets destroyed by their HEAT rounds before I can even see the incoming tanks, let alone engage them..... any advice?
Quote[/b] ]about the civilian issue - try to force him to careless mode with some script loop that will change his status every 1 second or less
Unfortunally, the script doesn't help... I used the following loop:
#loop
~0.1
? alive civ3: goto "ok"
goto "loop"
#ok
group1 setBehaviour "CARELESS"
exit
Then I used the script below to check whether it works:
i = 0
#loop
~0.01
i = i + 1
group1 setBehaviour "SAFE"
group1 setBehaviour "CARELESS"
_mood = behaviour player
hint format ["Good morning, Captain %1, %2.", i, _mood]
? not (alive hero): goto "ok"
goto "loop"
#ok
hint "im dead"
exit
Both loops work fine and the civilian is in CARELESS mode, but he does not ignore enemy units for some reason and goes prone....
Quote[/b] ]some of the enemy are carring us weapons m4's ect while others seem to be using ak's,might be intentional but seems odd!
Yeah, some of them prefer having ak's to avoid weapon jams in certain missions : ) AK's are less accurate, but there are fewer jams... Actually, US armed forces use both rifles in Iraq and Afganistan. But I guess officially, they use M-16 and M-4 only.
Quote[/b] ]And i'm also stuck on the risky raid mission
I'll look into the issue.... Do you take the truck on the road? Actually, you are not supposed to get to the base. Do you get a message when going to the base? Try to replay the mission I think something went wrong at the beginning...
BiGGiBs
Mar 10 2007, 12:11
yeah i got the message not to bother going to the base and head for the south of that town and the roadblock
mentioned and took the middle truck, was the only one with stigers onboard.
headed across country after that, avoiding the roads.
Quote[/b] ]about the civilian issue - try to force him to careless mode with some script loop that will change his status every 1 second or less

you can try put setUnitPos "up" in the loop, but dont know if it helps, if not replace the original BIS civilian with some civilian addon which you can find here in forums...

Try to place the truck closer to your team leader (15-20m) at the end of the missions - this must finish the mission.

hehe,what team leader?
when the mission started the others all get into a 4x4 with no room left for me so i presumed that it was solo mission?
Also im sure the guy told me too 'meet' him at that map refrence point once i'd stolen the supply truck?
plus when i arrived at the meeting point the others aren't there,i did try speeding up time but they still didn't show!

Many thanks for "Fedain" (Fedayeen?) - it made a pleasant change from the BIS attempts. Managed to complete them all without too many dramas - although I was trying to work out why in the Supply Truck mission the enemy all came up with friendly tags. It was reflected in the final score too - minus 17200 for that round. No worries - I don't play for the score anyway.
Re the task where you need to take a Dragunov, post-1.05 you now also have the option to grab a 12.7mm rifle. Much more useful!
Managed to shoot down 5 enemy helis, but wasn't credited for any of them! Probably a BIS-game-engine issue...
I cant even beat the first mission. How do you do it?

nice campaign, but I'm stuck on this mission also -- have stolen 5t truck with machinegun, driven it to correct map reference, but mission doesn't end...

Yeah, The mission ends after you take the truck to the team leader (he leaves you at the beginning of the mission). It doesn't end 'cause the truck and the team leader do not "meet". If you don't see the team at the final point, replay the mission - most likely, the car got stuck somewhere... I'll try to fix this...
Same here, got to meeting point, but nobody there. I sense a setup in the air ... those copters circling are scouting for the 20 M1`s on the way, hehe.

I'd like to share my findings. Did you notice that these events are played up in the campaign:
- Sniper Juba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juba_(sniper)). It feels like the 2nd mission puts you in his skin.
- <link removed by moderator> - the same scene in Oilland;
- Lot of heli crashes in the news - the chopper hunting in the campaign.
Any more?

hello ive played through the first three missions stuck on the supply truck mission replayed it three times and still wont end.good stuff so far http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Fun campaign! Thanks for that. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif
In the mission with the truck, right at the start I notice the leader
shouting out an map reference (to the driver of the 4x4) to go to;..
far away from Startpoint. Ei47 (Rashidah)
What happened for me (several times tried; restart of mission)
was, the driver of the 4x4 moves towards said grid reference,
once the leader is in (ok) but then after approx. 25m, suddenly
turns around and moves back to the startpoint!
Then the 4x4 stands there not moving anymore at all.
Thats why it never reaches 'meeting location'
First, I thought, it would have been run into an soldier or
heli patrol and got destroyed;..but it just sits at startpoint
until rotten. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Waypoint switching too fast? Too far spread? (That breaks a mission)
---
Edit: Ohh, and here is, what I absolutely dont like about the missions,
but that is purely personal preference.
-
If I catch an bullet from an invincible sniper out of nowhere,
to prevent me from entering certain areas;..I'm major pissed.
2nd and 3rd mission even? Dont try my patience! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Good work!
Thanks for the description of the problem! Frankly speaking, I had no idea what happened, 'cause on my computer the team reaches the meeting point in any case... I'll think how to fix this.

Very nice campaign! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif
I play the mission in the campaign when you must find chopper to destroy them with stinger, but don't see any chopper??? I have tried to follow a 4*4 which go to a zodiac (little boat) but nothing happened?
So please, could you tell me where i must go to see the chopper?
nb : Thank's for this very interesting campaign.
Xavier.
The choppers follow some route all around the island. You must try
to be in their route and be quick about shooting them down.
Do not read the 'mission solution' (inside briefing) if you want more tension.
Do not lose your truck. Put at least one more stinger
on your nr.2 (I mean the missile only, not launcher)
I dont wanna spoil too much.
Good chances to get an chooper, would be in the general vincinity
of Cayo and three opportunities would arise around Corazol.
Thats where the turbine sound came from anyways.. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
I'll try this tomorrow! This is what I love about ArmA (and OFP) Years and years after it's released, it'll still be fresh and new with so many user made missions/campaigns. I hope to make a campaign myself one day.

A couple points:
First of all a very well set up campaign as far as immersive scenarios go. Great job there.
Secondly, I get stuck at the meeting point with the truck too so I hope you manage to find a fix for this.
Thirdly, the missions are so immersive but it's spoiled a bit by the plot. I mean, c'mon "OILland?" and Americans killing farmers for Oil? LOL! Maybe setting it up for something a bit more realistic like roleplaying the part of, say, a naive goat farmer that is pressured into joining an insurgency against the liberating forces for the purpose of helping the local warlord gain more power and control over his subjects, and thus more social standing for the main character's family.
Just a suggestion that would put a more realistic storyline and some drama into the game. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Other than that this is one of the most fun campaigns out there so good work overall!
I mean, c'mon "OILland?" and Americans killing farmers for Oil? LOL!

You're kidding me right? I mean, you seriously believe this anonymous website?
What if I post a website too, will that make it fact?
No, the fact is you want to believe it for whatever bias you hold against the US. I'll spare you the facts about this incident because I doubt you'd be interested in the mundane reality.

i've completed risky raid 5 times now(when i say complete i mean gotten to the end with the ammo truck but the mission refuses to end), none of the times has the leader been at the end location, and i can't seem to find him anywhere. maybe they have been killed? by one of the many strikers?
any light that can be shed on this, or a way round would be greatly appreciated, I've enjoyed the campaign so far greatly.
Quote[/b] ]You're kidding me right? I mean, you seriously believe this anonymous website?
just check the video, you don't need to read the stuff from the anonymous website.
facts wich are most likely undisputed:
3 civilians are killed by a helicopter next to a tractor plowing a field. in early evening. (1630 zulu time)
they discarded a pipe like thing in the field.
where's the evidence now they were 'insurgents'?
even if it was a rpg, there was no direct threat to the helicopter or any other third party. if the us military considered what they had to be a weapon they should have sent police a military patrol to investigate it and detain them.
and don't tell me that'd it'd be to risky...
back to actual topic, i'll try the campaign out this evening. looking forward to it. i was a bit dissapointed that there are hardly any singleplayer missions on SLA side.

I am a U.S. citizen and that video made me sick. I have no bias against my country and would gladly fight in any war (with a just cause) but they posed no threat, not to mention a wounded man was gunned down helplessly. now to stop being political, great campaign. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

I've tried taking the truck back to the beginning of the mission and then an even more confusing thing happens. the mission goes into a cut scene with the leader congratulating you on getting the stingers, then everyone gets out of the truck and guns me down with AK47's..................... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
what on earth is going on?http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif
Yep, saw the video. So you're more willing to believe the story this website spoonfeeds you, that Americans were killing farmers for sport? My guess is you have no idea what the extenuating circumstances are but are quite willing to believe the ones that fit your bias.
I know it's all the fashion to be anti-US/Bush/Iraq/etc.,etc.
The fact is these "farmers" were carrying a long tubular object the one picks out of the vehicle. Hmmmm, maybe that was just a baby milk container? I'm sure they should have waited to see what came out of it first huh? Do you honestly think the Apache was just flying around and picked on some random farmers? What the hell makes you think that the RPG wasn't a threat, even if a small one in the hands of enemy combatants?
Think for yourselves folks, do some research and temper it with common sense. The net is already full of crap

STOP OFFTOPIC!
Watch out, SPOILER!
Returning to the campaign.
I manage to get to the third mission (on veteran, first was really frustrating but juicy in the same time). I stole a truck with stingers in it and moved to the buildings marked on the map. And... nothing. Is it bug or I just did not get order?
I used stinger and one AT2 if that matter (i do not think so)
I would like to say that I think it is bad idea to kill player if he gets too close to abandoned base. Very not climatic. Rather make me regret sending multiple squads then just setdammage 1.
Second mission I did by sneaking INTO the base and expoiting stupid AI, I killed all enemy except tank in Cayo. For me it was poor mission, without realism or good athmosphere. I did not see any opportunity to make it properly (as a sniper from the hide in long distance) Not enough cover, too many enemies including armour.
Also for fun I killed friends on the beginning of the first mission. Nothing happened, no message or anything.
Although, it is nice to play the campaign and first mission was really impressive. But first Strykers... I think they would never ever move in column by road in such a early stage of war and at the front.

Use your noggin, try to use common sense and inform yourself from both points of view instead of taking a short video prefaced with someone's uninformed opinion and drawing outrageous conclusions.
Anyway, a good place to start that is less likely to be biased is snopes:

If you still want to believe that the US military released video of some apache cowboys picking off poor harmless farmhands for sport than go ahead.

Ok, now that this banning thing has been cleared up, for those interested in the non-biased version of events for the link removed from my last post, you can find it at www.snopes.com by searching for "apache video".
The page in question does have a link to the video itself but I would advise strongly with caution watching it as the contents are disturbing, and well out of the scope of what should just be a fun game, not some sophomoric propaganda vehicle.
This is partially why I'm annoyed at this particular mission because of the careless re-simulation of the video contents using in-game scripting and it's insinuation that draws conclusions with the real world which simply aren't true.

I too have enjoyed this campaign.
As for a workaround....
An old OFP trick.....Left Shift + Numpad -(minus) then type in endmission . This is what I had to do to end the mission.
As for the Apache video talked about in the posts, why did the guy start to unwrapped this tubular item shortly after his friend was being shot at? Think about it!
