I want to show you all my progress on V.I.R.U.S. I'am working with 8 people so far and it would be nice if other would join. So here you go with the link to my webpage... It should be pretty easy to port the scripts from the zombie mod over to ArmA, I reckon.

If someone would be considerate enough to port the scripts, please feel free, just don't pass it off as all your own work...

Simmilar but not the same i dont think, it appears the VIRUS one is missing a RIS plate on the reciever.

Its not the same model, as it looks different around the fogre-grip area. I meant nothing by what I said in my previous reply (wasn&#39;t implying you were using my model), but the (now old) textures are almost identical to the ones in my pack (taken from a CS replacement model almost 3 years old now), with the green hue of the receiver etc.

Not very jungleish your jungle area i must say. Looks more like the woods in the tempered north eastern part of sahrani..

this mod can be described in two words : fucking awesome. it&#39;s looking so great. And good job on adding the sigs (do the sights work well? ) , IMO a very nice , if somewhat unseen , rifle. at least from my limited experience with it.

what&#39;s the status on zombie scripting ?

Individual Mission Planning System (IMPS)


That is the new system we created for our game. After the fourth mission in the game you will be able to choose what you do next. So you can choose where you will attack, how and when you will attack next. Therefore you got a little window where you can choose the time (day or night), where (different towns or bases of the mercs) and the important thing, how you engage the enemy (with Aircrafts, Tanks, Infantry or better in a Spec-Ops-Team or alone. Well ... I saw you aren&#39;t satisfied with the jungle so far... So I changed a few things... I made the grass higher... A bit closer... and more trees in the jungle areas... I also changed the ground-texture... But that is a bit unimportant lol because i think yu can&#39;t see it either... this is the result what do you think ... ok like this?

EDIT: Now I also changed the count of insects and stones... both increased now... I also increased the grass-distance and quality... Without loosing mayn fps... 2 or 3 max... Here a few other pics ...

Maybe u should search a host for your stuff, with an FTP it would be much easier to upload and download stuff.

Sure here a brighter pic without the arma-filter hdr... I changed the barrel, the scope and the stock a bit... the camo is just a placeholder atm... BTW: Someone told me there is soemthign wrong with the scope but he didn&#39;t remember what... Do you find a mistake???

Infact of the 3d ironsight... ( i finished it) you can use it as a assault-rifle, too.. you can move your eye closer and zoom up to 24x and without you can see it like a red dot sight atm...

Here it is... First without zoom... Second with full zoom... It makes the game much easier with this function... Surely soem thing aren&#39;t that realistic... you metioned it... but it is more realitic that you can move your eye closer and away...

3rd persion view might look cool, but it&#39;s affect gameplay. I tried it in OFP (just wanted to know if Splinter Cell shooting view could be transformed into OFP) and it was very difficult to use, especially on corners of buildings. Even in Splinter Cell it wasn&#39;t so useful (hovewer it looked cool), but this view wasn&#39;t there all the game, just when player drew weapon - but switching 3rd person views in ArmA is not possible).

BTW: I hope this project will be something more than Conspiracies. Cool look and tons of addons are not everything, good gameplay can replace all of this.

Holy hell. I&#39;d advise compressing it to a .CAB file using PowerArchiver or a similar tool. It&#39;ll take an age to pack, but the resulting file-size will be worth it.

It would be better not to use some less important addons (it will be "cool" enough even without them, won&#39;t it?). Even CSLA or FDF were only half in size without quality loss. Think about it.

I really recommend it to anyone, as it combines a lot of other file-formats that you&#39;d need othe rprograms for apart from WinZIP etc into one program.

Well because it is a total conversion mod useless addons are history... it replaces nearly all original pbos... except the buildings.pbo, misc.pbo, animals.pbo, LANGUAGE.pbo, rocks.pbo, signs.pbo and animation.pbo...

First of all thank you to all people who helped me out in the last days&#33; http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif VIRUS is done and ready for release... Just wait till the 21.03.2007 release with pc action or pc games or the 08.04.2007 free internet release. I will show you some pictures of the mod later... the mp part and new music is NOT included in the pc-action version. You can dl the music-pack after the release of the pc-action and pc games. The mp part will follow with the free internet-release after the pc-action release. Were are also working on the expansion to V.I.R.U.S.. we splitted the game into 2 parts, because of the very huge dl-size it would be in one file. so we can release the mainprogram earlier and have now enough time to work on the expansion. Because we started to develope the mod with version 1.01 its maybe not compitable with higher versions... I am not sure because I still have 1.01 on my computer... If it didn&#39;t work with higher versions I will upload a 1.01 exe... Than it should work everywhere...

get a error about "wrong disc inserted", and the thing is... i have the downloaded german version from Morphicon...
thus i dont have a disc other then the one i have burned myself wich contains the installation files...
maybe you should take a look at that....

I just added a normal map to the SPASS12. I think it looks quite good what do you think? Maybe a bit too "metalish"... :/ It looks very good in the 1st person sight.. ( no screens lol) but if there is a strong sunlight it glows very strong you can see... you think it is still correct this way?

All informations on are on the page. So a MP-Mod wouldn&#39;t have such detailed characters and story. It&#39;s mainly Singelplayer (a campaign included in the mod). But there are a few MP-Missions also. The Internetreleasedate is in the right corner. So the 1st May 2007. There may is a thign I have to say to the demo... You have to bring the ca.pbo into another folder if the virus.pbo is in there... otherwise the virus-demo-campaign won&#39;t work.

I&#39;m a little disappointed , i must say. Because one major AI bug bothers me, that have been removed with 1.05 normally: The AI couldnt care less about the high grass you implemented. Im laying direclty in it and those freaking guys get me with one shot in the head from 300 m and more. (of course i can see them only until i&#39;m dead -_-)

Thats a shame, &#39;cause i was quite interested in this campaign, after it got so good reviews.

Again music in the background with no possibility to turn it off. MGS3 songs are good, but I prefer hearing them in the game itself and not on some sites.

No you can&#39;t... We started to developed the mod with version 1.01... We couldn&#39;t update it to 1.05... because nothing worked then...

And that&#39;s why you will need this stupid 1.01 virus exe to launch the game... Was there a special patch for the downloaded versions of arma? don&#39;t think so... the onyl solution I have would be that someone give me a 1.01 exe of the dled version. And someone a 1.01 exe of the starforce one...

I am really frustrated with this. I downloaded once and kept on getting something about config bin and women saboteur, before a crash. Then I saw on Armaholic that there were add on fixs.I tried this and same result. On BAC forum they said that you could download it again from there site with the fixed site. So 4 hours later it was downloaded and still the same problem. Is the full version on your web site the new one? Anyway , if other members think this mod is so good, I might try downloading it again. IF there is a clear link to the updated full version that does not need any fixes.

Just before it crashes I get this message

Czech and german are dieffernet versions. Th czech one os protected by starforce and the polish one too. All the other versions are protecte with securom. So it should work fine on your version.

@<hidden>: What arma version do you have? When did you downloaded it?

I have a number of points for you guys.

The version I have is the english language dvd bought in the uk.

Second point is why is this so hard to get this going for so many people, it&#39;s kind of ridiculous. I downloaded the Swiss Army Mod at the same time as your one and no problems. It installs and you play it fine. But for yours we have to go thru hoops and roundabouts. Come on guys sort it out&#33;

The pbos in the mod are v1.01. Thats why you need Version 1.01 of Arma to play it, and thats why there is a special exe which pull back arma to v1.01. If any guy thing he can fix these 3 gigs of pbos to version 1.05, you are free to do this. Why the Switzerland mod is running without problems is the fact that it is no total coversion like virus is... Virus replaces nearly all pbo files of armed assault. And if guys think that the nearly 7 month of development brought nothing, then do it but post reason why at all.

At first i wanted to try your Campaign and reskin pack but after reading all those negative statements here i changed my mind. It seems your making the same mistakes like you have done for your OFP projects.
And after all, did those german magazines had any choice between your Project and other mods before voting your Project? I think there wasnt much competion thats why this award is worth nothing. You just impressed a bunch of non-ArmA/OFP players with some nice screenshots or trailers which where showing basic ArmA-stuff with a new texture.

The mod is running only with securom protected ArmA versions, there are not only "some" systems where its not working its the most of all foreign (non german) players that cant use the mod.

Well why not spend some time and make the addons look better?

I mean the scheme looks good and all but its way out there for size.

If you already know this, why make screens and put it out as if its done&#33;?

More quality...less quanity. Your mod would be a lot better if you spent some time on it getting things proper instead or promoting half done work.

Lol, this are the final ones. I wont change the textures, like I said they fit better to the environment with bigger pixels... The mod shouldn&#39;t be that realistic...

EDIT: Yes you have to download the full-version of 1.3 GB and the patch (size still unknown).

The research for some realistic points in Virus took a few days. The texturing itself is no problem, but you have to take care about the wrinkles in the clothes. I think someone released a very good .psd-file for texturing units. What we prefere is the gameplay not the high-realism you can create with armed assault.

Normal-Maps are the key in Armed Assault.
