View Full Version : 105 patch demands softwrap re-License WT
Running Czech version 102, had to use up second license to install 102 patch, now with 105 it asks again for re-activation however there are no more License's. This is unacceptable. I have e-mailed softwrap, they have not responded.
I'm sitting here, as a paying customer, with a non working version of the game that requires a new License for each patch. I demand a refund or a working copy of the game. This is unacceptable. Totoally unacceptable.

You have no right to demand anything. The only right you had was to buy or not buy the game. To late now. I suggest you wait patiently for a response. If I was softwrap support, I would wait 2 weeks before giving you another license.
I know your situation sucks, but maybe you should have thought about it before using sprocket. Its not like there weren't many warnings. So its all your fault.
German version has the same problem. Have contacted Morphicon but no response as yet. Installing a patch to eliminate bugs should not require a re authorization of the game as the authorization process generates a hardware key and links it to the authorization key. Installing a patch should not change the hardware key, so therefore a re/auth should not be necessary.
I will never ever buy any software that uses this or a similar setup ever again. At least if I had bought the DVD version I would have paid the same amount, gotten a printed manual and NOT be having this issue.

It is just a shame that there is no way to ad him to some form of ignore list where we don't have to see anything he posts anymore. ***I agree with you and it is not just the sprocket vesion but the german version as well having this issue and the german version use starforce and not softwrap.
Luciano, learn to read. Paco said refund or a WORKING copy. Anyone who paid for thier version has the right to expect the software to work. There is no reason why a patch should cause someone to have to reactivate the software.
if anyone i would have blame first it would be the publishers and the clone makers, then BIS themself if needed, but since i still havent experence most of the bugs ppl here have been reported i really couldnt help others blaming anyone,

The Activation Code has already been used in a successful activation or purchase. It can not be used again. Please e-mail support@softwrap.com

There are 3 activations granted automatically on Sprocket for every purchase made. I think it's reasonable amount but I understand with the patches it can be easily used all. In case of using it you need to contact support and don't worry: reseting your activations will not be an issue.
With Morphicon online purchase it's less in our hands but I am confident they will also help out.

I agree, we need to be allotted 1 extra activation from all publishers for this patch. I was trying something new for a class project by creating a nice video in ArmA in hopes in finishing it no later than Monday. Now I have to wait for Morphicon to respond to my email and reissue me another activation.. However long that takes is up in the air.
Why does the game require another activation?
actually i think activation should be increased with each patch by at least "1" due to possible "issues" ...

-Bought Arma,installed on my home pc, removed Arma and sold PC less than 2 weeks later
-Installed on my laptop,played great for a month or so.
-I reformatted my laptop,Installed Arma, starforce cause problems so I removed Arma from my laptop
Now I have no more install keys and I plan on installing it on my sons pc (he doesnt even have any cd drives)
I am confident that I won't have problems (haven't asked for any more install keys yet)
Because I changed my email and lost my serial #'s already and I emailed Morphicon and "IN LESS THAN A DAY" they emailed me my cd keys and changed my account info.
I am surprised if users are awaiting Morphicon...service is outstanding

I'm in the same boat. I just emailed Morphicon but it's already 9pm Eastern. Ugh. I think the correct email address is support.vente@metaboli.com (there's a dot between support and vente).
Well I do have a DVD version I bought from buyarma.com that I've never used because I was too impatient to wait when the online version became available. Guess I'll install it.

There's going to be alot of unhappy vegemites this weekend, unable to play either version.
This "Activation Issue" has also made me decide to NEVER buy downloadable versions online again.

What about the people who reinstall their operating system, down the line? i reinstall about 2 times a year just to keep it fresh. Those who take care of there stuff get screwed?
If i knew then what i know now,..... Ive only had this game 2 wks and am allready regreating Downloading it. I should have gotten myself a hard copy.

It's worse than just reinstalling it and having to email for renewal. If 5 years on you are still playing ArmA like may do with OpFlash, if Morphicon happens to have gone out of business, what then? Would they give everyone unlimited refreshes before they disappear or would everyone be screwed?

Tribes2 wasn't online dl,but you got a serial # and that let you make an account.I played Tribes2 for years,I could use anyones cd to install and play on anyones pc because you only had to login an account
BF42,BFV and BF2..I like that setup...Master server keeps track and same thing,serial # gets you an account basically
I bought online download of special forces for BF2 and get this...I don't have a serial #,I have to download the 900 meg addon and install it thru the EA addon manager
I managed ways to save the temp files so I don't have to download it everytime but they recently changed software and messed it up and is the main reason that BF2 isn't installed right now
I wish Arma just had the master server thing to keep track of cd keys.It would be the only form of copy protection needed for online play.
For single player it would then have to be the cd check

I have the German version downloaded from Morphicon.
It is now unplayable after installing the 1.05 patch. I emailed Morphicon support.
I totally agree that this is completely unacceptable.

Yeah, I dont like it either. The patches are a mandatory loss of an activation. With many people experiencing difficulties installing or patching the first time, it often takes more than one activation to correctly install or patch ArmA.

Might be a good idea. After what I've read here and in other forums about the download versions I would never jump on that boat.
I've got my DVD Versions and can install whenever I feel like.
Who's problem is this really? Maruk's? Or the Publishers? I mean, who's decision is it to add allotted slots/reinstalls per user? The developer right? Perhaps just send them an official statement requesting to a lot users one additional reinstall for each patch that comes out.
Meh, what can one do.. I wish I bought the DVD version but I was too impatient... so I bought the Online one.
I bought (as said before) 2 download copies (megaboli and sprocket).
From sprocket I didn't receive any confirmation mail with activation keys, so I mailed them to send it. I got a reply from support@idea-games.com, with the notice that they received my mail. Till now NO mail with an activation key.
I am also out of licences from megaboli. I mailed them on supportvente@metaboli.com , but also here NO answer!
So basicly, I spend 82 euro's for.......nothing!!!! Enjoyed the game for only 2 months........ That's far from the 5 years playing OFP......
Well its weekend what can you expect give them until monday.

It's really a pity Steam wasn't used for the online distribution, as you can redownload anything as many times as needed. Oh well.
For the metaboli version I can understand (as it was said in their confirmation mail (3x activation)), but if they say support for 24/7 I expect answer within a day.
For the sprocket version, as soon as you bought the product, you should get a confirmation mail with all details (as they say on their website), but I didn't get any of this. I mailed them after I finished downloading the game, but only receive a mail saying that they received my mail.
I bet they already charged my credit card.

Just spoke with the support hotline at Morphicon and at first they argued about whether I even downloaded the game from them. After finally convincing them that yes, they do sell that game and yes, I did download it from them they told me there is nothing they can do about it and to wait for an email response from them. Which is pretty stupid IMO. If the helpdesk doesn't even know what games they sell and cannot do anything about it, what good will it do to wait for the email response I sent to the support email address that the helpdesk gave me?
The unfortunate thing about this issue is that even though it is the publishers who are responsible for this problem for the most part, down the line it will end up being blamed almost exclusively on BIS, since that is who will be remembered when talking about ArmA rather than the publishers.
Well I will wait a couple of days and go back to playing WoW and if this issue is not resolved to my satisfaction then there is always the legal option since I live in Germany that can pursued against Morphicon due to the way German laws are written. At least if it goes that far I have legal insurance for pursuing it.
In any case I reiterate what I said in an earlier post that I will NEVER buy a game again through this method and NEVER EVER buy any game from Morphicon again.

Similar problem over here :
- I bought the game on the Sprocket platform from Idea Games on the 15th of December 2006
- I am unable to reactivate my licence after patching the game to 1.05
- Reinstalling the game doesn't solve the problem.
- Games runs in 1.01 but 1.05 asks me to reconfirms the licence and the process is a failure (Activation failed)
- Trying to activate a new licence is failure aswell.
Why isn't your activation account restored when doing a clean uninstall ?

I feel that Sprocket/softwrap is the worst... I feel as I've been cheated. I paid full price to "Rent" a game... Everytime I re-install, or update the game via a patch I have to "check out" the game again... At least with EA downloader or Steam, I own the game and am free to reinstall the game as many times as I feel or need.
I'm never using Sprocket again!! They should just give each user unlimited licenses. What happens when Sprocket goes out of buisness? None of use will be able to install the game ever again! Wasted money... We can't even re-download the game... What kind of "Download" service is that? EA and Steam allow unlimited downloads... And Steam allows you to make CD and DVD backups after.
I like BIS, but this Sprocket/Softwrap deal is the worst... BAD BAD BAD...

I got the same from morphicon/metaboli, I replied that I had reinstalled windows twice and had reinstalled the game once because of various reasons, including trying to improve the performance of the game, they sent me an email back saying "we strongly suggest you get your pc into proper working order"
They gave me another 3 activations but who the hell are they to say how many times I can reinstall windows or uninstall/reinstall a game I have paid for.

this is OBVIOUSLY a game that was released unfinished and requires quite a few patches

That was really funny! Seriously, I had to wait a couple minutes to let the laughter stop before replying. It appears Im one of the lucky few who decided to wait on a DVD to be shipped over seas. I cant even imagine the stress and frustration some of you are going thru. After reading this thread I will try to stay away from any temptations of purchasing downloadable content. DRM is not for me!

Hi...I have 1 license left since Ive used my first Morphicon license with my XP laptop.
As Ive updated to Vista with a better graphics card Ive used the second one...
2 days ago I was trying to update to 1.05 and some error about my campaign file has appared and the updated was aborted. The message said I had to reinstall the game from scratch.
As I just have 1 license left, Im downloading again the patch from my squad's Ftp site..
Questions are:
1) Do I need to install the game before try to update it as I had an error installing 1.05?

I got a response (from metaboli) basically asking the same - why do I need another serial code?, so I told them straight - because the software is buggy and its not my PC!!. I dont think we should take any cr*p from these amateurs.

i try not to troll but i need to put it in for these who were whining (now i laugh @ them) about ideas to put ArmA on Steam / GamerGate / TotalGaming ...
why ? well as with these You got unlimited number of installs as long as You keep Your original account with purchased licences ...
this proves that actual approach to limit number of instals is wrong (omg whats that asking why you need another activation, man they don't have machine UID generator ?)
in end reactivating stuff causes tons of overhead on QA depot (increases expenses on salary and QA equip)

email support at BIS, Maruk was pretty quick on handling this problem and got me my activations within the same day.

Negative. Morphicon is not the correct address if you have the download version.
You need to get in touch with Metaboli, they are responsible for the download version. Morphicon can't help you with Activation problems!
As for Metaboli support not answering:
Looks like they had a problem on Monday, in the meantime it should be okay again.

yeah sent e-mail to BIS support see if they can resolve altho it is a problem with softwrap.
wow BIS answered within an hour...nice one
problem resolved
...wonder when or if ever softwrap plan on responding.
Got my activation on Monday. Now I can play again, I am relieved...
