Sorry about the delay, I went to sleep yesterday and slept to the next morning. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif And was in the school in the day so...
Well, finally, here it is - Rellikki's Resistance Troops.
This addon comprises of resistance troops with Swiss Alpenflage camouflage pattern. The addon's idea is to bring the old resistance units from Operation Flashpoint to Armed Assault. Feedback and comments are always welcome! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Newer version available on the first post.

I might give the pilots, crewmen and machinegunners the german Flecktarn camouflage uniforms though, just like in OFP, to add some difference to the units.

Old colours were better...and yup Flecktarn camu uniforms would be great,go for it... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Flecktarn is a good idea.
About the new/old .. well.
Its hard to say, HDR makes some things darker and some brighter as they are.
From far away the swiss camo looks right, if you come closer its could be a bit darker. The following picture shows what i mean. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
http://k-dvd.de/img/arma/fia02k.jpg (http://k-dvd.de/img/arma/fia02.jpg)

No blood textures?
Hows that possible?
I mean ArmA automaticly adds the blood on your textures if the unit gets damaged... its not painted on additional textures anymore...
Probably deleted it in the ArmA config by any chance?

They only get automatically added if you base your class around the correct class.
eg
NewSoldier: SoldierWB
Is this case NewSoldier is a reskinned US Soldier. If you have a reskinned SLA soldier and base him around the SoldierWB-class he'll have no blood textures. You can solve that by adding the appropiete "damage-stuff" to the config. Than you can base them off from whatever unit you like...
So if you write the config correctly they get the blood textures added.
Rellikki
Feb 15 2007, 16:38
I did base them in correct class. Well, at least I think so... Here's a part of the config:
Quote[/b] ]/*extern*/ class OfficerG;
class RLK_guer_ofcr: OfficerG
{...
It is like that in all my other addons too, and the blood textures seem to work fine on them. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif
But the model is a SLA one, so it needs the blood textures from the SLA models or am i wrong?
Rellikki
Feb 15 2007, 20:42
Oh yeah, you're right. I'll see if it works if I replace the "OfficerG" with something from the SLA side.
Looking forward to v1.2 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Hey Rellikki, Great stuff.
But I got a bit of a noob editing question so excuse my ignorance in the subject.
I want to make a campaign about the liberation of Northern Sarahni, where the FIA will fight the RACS forces out of the North.
Q: How do I edit the addon to allow your FIA units to become selectable in the East soldier list? I tried placing them on the map with a East Squad Leader whose probability of pressence was set to 0%, But The FIA troops in my squad had the Red NMY tags which might get confusing in larger battles that I plan on making.
Please if you could spell it out as to how I might make the FIA fight under East (or West) I would greatly Appreciate it.

Feb 20 2007, 12:20
Hey Mjrstiffy,
The way you tried to set them to the OPFOR side should work, at least it does if you'd do that in Operation Flashpoint. You can however change their side by editing the mission.sqm file too. Just put some FIA guys on the map, save the mission, open the mission.sqm file from the mission and look for lines like this:-
Quote[/b] ] class Item0
{
side="GUER";
class Vehicles
{
items=1;
class Item0
{
position[]={2502.520020,13.860000,2550.000000};
id=0;
side="GUER";
vehicle="RLK_guer_ofcr";
player="PLAYER COMMANDER";
leader=1;
skill=0.600000;
};
If you spot a line like that one above (bolded), that's one of my guerillas. You can change his side by replacing the side="GUER";'s with side="EAST"; (This sets them to the OPFOR side). It requires a bit of work and time, but it shouldn't be a problem I guess. After this, save the file and reopen the mission in the mission editor. Do not touch the guerillas after this (Edit their rank, init line, etc., you can move them around the map however), because this will set them back to the RACS side.
Here are all the classnames for my guerillas:-
Quote[/b] ]RLK_guer_ofcr.......Officer
RLK_guer_sol........Rifleman
RLK_guer_aa........AA Soldier
RLK_guer_at.........AT Soldier
RLK_guer_grnd.....Grenadier
RLK_guer_miner....Miner
RLK_guer_hmg......Machinegunner
RLK_guer_mdc......Medic
RLK_guer_snpr......Sniper
RLK_guer_pilot......Pilot
RLK_guer_crew......Crewman
Hope it helped. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Thanks for the suggestion but I still see RED tags on my squad members when I start playin. I used your method but I still have that same problem. Basically I want to know if its allright for me to modify or duplicate your addon so that the Resistance troops are selectable Under EAST in the mission editor by default. I think that this way the name tag that pops up when pointing at friendlys will display green instead of red.
If its allright to modify your addon in this way can you please point me in the right direction so I can learn how to modify them. Maybe a link to the right disscussion board that can spell out how to open and edit individual addons. I just want these guys to Fight as EAST and maybe still be able to tweak them in the editor on the fly as I build my missions. Because if I see something I dont like about the Unit's behavior or loadout I cant just select the unit and make changes to it without the unit model switching to the Default SLA solders.
Rellikki
Feb 22 2007, 11:49
Well in that case you may do your own modification of it. Just copy the config from my addon and put it in a new folder, edit it as you want and then pbo it. Remember to change the classnames and stuff to something different, so it's compatible with the original addon, but keep the model paths the same. This will make it so my addon is also required to use that modification and saves a lot of time from you too.

IMO, they should get a non US camo.
I realize it makes sense that the US would give them gear but in the end it becomes another US army addon.
I just think something different would be more interesting.

Hi,
The desert, urban and resistance units are excellent addons. Thanks for the effort you put into them.
====
The camouflage for the South Sahrani's looks good, the spacing of the pattern is closer to the original ERDL (http://www.henrikc.dk/camouflage/details.asp?autono=85) than the later woodland pattern (basically an enlargement of ERDL). The choice of that camouflage pattern is in my opinion good, as variants of it are in widespread service. For the urban pattern besides a variation of your ERDL pattern, the Urban Warrior 1999 experimental pattern (http://www.dpmpublishing.com/images/pr/p/DPM-S-MIL-04.jpg) might be an option. A variant of it featured a tan background instead of the light grey and was used for some time in Future Force Warrior concept pictures. That variant would fit better with the sand coloured buildings in the south.

Sander

I've decided to stick with the original camouflage I used, since it's probably the most obvious camo they would get from US army, and it would take a while to make a new pattern (lazy me). The ones you mentioned above, helping_hand and BlackScropion, are good ideas, but aren't those camouflages designed for special forces?
If you want me to make any quick changes to the original camo or have some other ideas to the addon, tell them now. I'm going to release this today, as well as the urban guys too probably. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif I'm also going to update the SLA Desert pack this weekend, basicly the aircraft textures and new vehicles and weapons which came with ArmA v.1.05.
...aren't those camouflages designed for special forces?
You could use the one you have now for default RACS and the other ones for royal guards/commandos http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

<span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'>Royal Army Corps Sahrani Woodland Units released!</span>
Well, got a bit tired of addon making for a little while, but I'm back with another release - Royal Army Corps Sahrani Woodland Units. This addon comes up with RACS units in woodland uniforms, to be used in woodland areas. The addon also contains some reskinned RACS vehicles, Landrover, M113 and Vulcan. I tried to make the helmets plain green, like if they'd not had any cover, but I ran into a problem with normal maps, as seen here (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=69;t=60339;st=0;r=1;&#entry1034660), but I think I got it solved, thanks to the guys who replied there. The next release will have units with no helmet covers, unless you like it this way. It would make them look less US army looking if I'd do so I think. Feedback and comments are welcome!

IMHO that pattern is fugly but i've yet to see a pic of them in urban terrain.
IMHO, I think that cam is fantastic! It seems to suit the guys very well, I think it's cool!
But, could you please consider adding a 'rolled up' part to the bottom of their sleeves? I don't know why the BIS gang gave the RACS t-shirts to wear in combat! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

Hmm, maybe they don't know what long-sleeved shirts are... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif But I'm going to stick with those, since BIS gave those to them, so they shall stay in the curse of t-shirts then, and it gives them a special style.

<span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'>Royal Army Corps Sahrani Urban Warfare Units released!</span>
Phew, another couple of hours spent on addon making, and here's the result - Royal Army Corps Sahrani Urban Warfare Units. This addon comes up with RACS units in desertish urban camouflage uniforms, which can be used in urban areas, or even in general use, why not, since it fits well in desert. The units have been designed especially for the South Sahrani villages.
I'm now going to update the old addons if necessary, until I come up with new ideas to create.
Feedback and comments would be appreciated. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

When the modding tools come out, I will give the normal soldiers caps. The officers will have boonies, just like in OFP.

Hello all,
After a little break, I'm back in the ArmA editing again. I haven't really came up with new addon ideas, so I'm updating the old ones for now - making them compatible and up to date with the new v.1.08 patch, updating the textures, etc.
First off, here is a picture of the new FIA guerilla camo pattern:
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/9659/resjf4.th.jpg (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=resjf4.jpg)
I finally realised that the old camo pattern was kinda un-realistic. The new one should be a lot of more realistic and better, and I hope you like it too.
I have also been updating the SLA Desert pack with new camo pattern for the vehicles and some little tweaking with the infantry units. Here's an example picture of the new vehicles:
http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/5043/hgfhbp0.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hgfhbp0.jpg)

Just an idea: why not use the weapons of Skaven & Co for your troops? Probably everyone use or will be useing those packs, so addon dependency won't be a big problem. Then your Resistance units won't have to look like regular troops, currently beeing uniformly armed. Just an idea...
BTW, do you have plans for some good SLA woodland camos too? I'm making a complicated 4 man coop scenario were you arrive to the southern part of the country to infiltrate the northern part for some assassinations and sabotage. All during an uprising aginst the SLA. Rebels (your and Vilas troops) have holed up in Obregan and the SLA are coming for them... But I don't want to use BIS SLA camos nor any desert troops.

I actually do have one more SLA addon under progress. It's a little bigger project than any of my other ones, so it will take a bit longer to complete. I'll keep it a secret for now, but I will post some more information once I have done some progress... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif I'm planning to give them some community made weapons. Most likely it will be Tiger's SLA weapon pack, and if I find any other good packs with an AK-74M, I will equip them with that too.

It's not a bad idea and I actually love those weapons too, but I will keep the BIS weapons so mission editors can freely choose whatever weapons they want to equip my units with.

I'm at the moment working on some new addons. I will post updates when I have done some progress. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Hi,
Good job on your various updates on the FIA, SLA and RACS units.
A suggestion for the RACS urban troops would be vehicles in a pattern similar to that used by the UK Berlin Brigade and the Philippino Marine Ready Force, but with colours more suited to the Sahrani urban environment (predominantly sand/brown rather than grey) similar to this Dutch experimental pattern (http://www.panzerbaer.de/colours/pics/nl_camo_colours-DSCF5063.jpg).

Now when I look at it, you're right. It's really weird, because I did define the groups in the config. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif I'll have a look at it, thanks for informing.
Edit 1: It appears when you're using the Urban RACS addon, the woodland groups disappear and vice versa. I really don't know what causes this. If anyone finds a solution, I'd really appreciate it.
Edit 2: Ahh, I think I found it. The groups have same classnames (eg. BasicGroup, WeaponsGroup) so it causes either of them to disappear. To fix this, I'd need to update all my addons with new group class names... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif

I'll be using RobertHammer's Pistol & AK packs for this addon, as for the weaponry. (Thanks a lot, man! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif )

I think he means that he did the editing of the model not Rellikki directly and he didn't credit ebud for helping. Not sure though.
A+ Rellikki http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
Btw, are those models going to be used in CWR?
Maybe he just "removed" it by changing the texture...maybe.

Well if you seen his other skins then you should know that hes really good at that stuff so i have no doubts about it fitting CWR.
But thats what i dont get, hes CWR member and makes his own FIA with models reworked by Ebud for CWR and it seems like they are planned to be released stand alone instead of CWR pack units.
I mean i know you guys signed a NDA and somehow i have my doubts that it allows usage of CWR models outside of it ( for now at least ).

I keep hoping that you'll get around to releasing those unarmored SLA units. Have you given up? If you need some help in beta testing or texturing I would be glad to help in anyway I can. I would just like to see these things get released before ArmA II comes out.

Hello,
Thanks for your interest. I haven't given up. I'm just waiting until someone would let me use one of their custom made human models in my addon projects. Once I get one, I will surprise the community with quite a... few addon releases. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif But I will inform when I start working again.

Later being better than never, thank you Rellikki for this very nice Resistance Troops, it's also a great addition to immersion during our missions.
Here is a little something that may help fellow mission makers, a simple pdf document showing a picture with the classname and displayname of all troops.
