Is there and addon available to stop AI firing stingers at ground vehicles? . I think this would be a good addition to the "Proper" set of mods, like the one they have to stop AT AI firing at infantry.

Not really an addon request, maybe more scripting releated.

I really would like to have a realistic startup sequence on BIS and addon helicopters.

Would it be possible to have a script and a turbine startup/shutdown sound, activated via the init line of a helicopter, that does this:

- add an action menu entry called(e.g.): "Start Helicopter".
- when pressed, it plays the turbine sound
- while the sound is playing, some seconds later the engine of the helicopter goes on and the rotor blades start spinning
- remove the action menu entry
- add another action menu entry called(e.g.): "Shut down Helicopter)
- when pressed, it plays a turbine shutdown sound and stops the engine of the helicopter

With that option you could chose to have a realistic startup sequence if you want to.

Any ideas how to realise this?

They tried to do it in ACE by stalling the helicopter via removing its fuel until the startup finished. This how they did it in WGL, but the AI in ArmA leaves a helicopter that has no fuel (and I think refuses to return).

Who knows if there's a more creative way to do it.

That's a CheyTac Intervention M200, I believe nobody finished it, as far as I know. I modeled a .50 Cal Windrunner, that's pretty similar, but the project it's pretty aborted, was one of my first models and it did not come out so well, lol..

Can you be a bit more specific? I checked the current texture and compared it with RL markenings and it seems to fit except the missing Marines textline on the right upper wing. Lots of different details are possible.
Colors might be off a bit, but that is difficult to say with lots of pictures with different brightsettings on the web.

Is anybody willing to model out a STRAIGHT FLUSH fire control radar for the Sa-6 Gainful? Well, the straight flush isn't too hard of something to model really, its getting someone to do it.

I think SAM efforts should be focused with the ArmA RKSL project for their stuff. They seem to be tackling this with the most interest and effort to back it up.

However, my two requests are most likely never to be completed, even though they would add much to the ArmA experience.

#1. Field Duty and Dress Uniform (male/female, enlisted/officer) for all major branches of the US and Russian/Soviet military. This is not referring to BDU's or battle fatigues.

Nothing would make Cold War Rearmed project feel more better and nostalgic than to have a great Soviet Army female officer unit being Angelina and good ole Guba decked out in a high quality model& textures sporting that General's field uniform.

#2. A well made "enterable" Headquarters.

Militaries don't run on only dirt hugging grunts or aircraft pilots all day, they need a enterable headquarters(Generic/US and/or Russia/USSR) that looks like one. Gotta have pencil pushers and others running the army too.

There are quite a few things that would be cool to see in this game, and since I have no skill at making addons myself, I thought I'd see if someone else shares my interests! Even if one of these gets made it would be awesome, but I guess beggers can't be choosy.

I know some of these have probably been said multiple times, but...

1. CH-53E Super Stallion.
2. CH-46 Sea Knight. (I heard someone was working on one of these... a long time ago.)
3. A Stryker with slat armor. (I know ACE mod has an mgs version with slat armor, but it would be nice to see other variants. If I am ot mistaken another mod team was working on this, but they seem to have gone missing...)
4. T-55.
5. TU-22M Backfire.
6. B-52H Stratofortress.
7. TU-95 Bear.
8. B-1B Lancer.
9. TU-160 Blackjack.
10. An Island of, or based on somewhere in the U.S.: With all the U.S. style police cars that been made recently, it would certainly be cool to have a fitting place to use them. You know what I mean, like a suburban, or even urban place. (suburban wouldn't hit the frame rates as hard...) Take where I live for example, Its like a more urbanized version of Schmalfelden. There's a city, large suburban neighborhoods, a freeway, a ski resort, small neighborhoods, forests, lakes... lots of them, rivers, an airport, farms, and back country dirt roads; and this is all in an area 20 miles south of the nearest major city (Minneapolis), not to mention this area I'm thinking of has a sweet name for a map. Its like where farmland meets city, and its really hard to explain. The area where I live is technically a suburb, yet its located in a forest. Creating a map like this would require tons of custom buildings and objects though, and would require someone who is very good at creating custom objects, and mapmaking (*cough cough, Opteryx, cough*).

there really is nothing to it to be honest. Just use BINpbo and check binarize.

I would like to request a ficticious runestone as a static object. All the cracks and wear are welcome, so long as it adds to the atmosphere I am trying to portray in an island.

European vegetation is another request. We have plenty of decent models in game already, but there are a few others I would like to see. Where is Berghoff!?!

Start with BIS's own model, the big concrete/brick platforms that are used to make the terraced towns. Shrink it and copy the config and your just about done.

That is a Squad XML logo you use in a MP(multi player game) to show your clan TAG or logo or whatever on vehicles or on your upper arm.

This is my first time posting on hewre, if I screwed it up, I ask your forgiveness...BUT, I am a cold war enthuisiast..I I would love to see the Kiev class carrier mad. As well as the Yak-38. This would give opfor Forces a VTOL capability and would add to a great tool to a cold war fan like myself.

Hi, might sound like a stupid request but I'm wondering if anyone would try putting their hand to making a few engineering vehicles. I know they would not have a great number of uses in game but I think they could add a new line that mission makers could follow. Anyway hopefully someone will consider this, or perhaps already has, as I would love to see a couple of combat engineering vehicles.

This is pretty much exactly what i would like to see in ArmA (although i think there might already be a T-55 out there)

the CH-53 and CH-46 would be fantastic additions to the marines inventory. i believe gnat is making a B-52.
I especially like #10, I love the idea of fighting door to door in a suburban enviorment, with APCs sitting on the driveway of a two story suburban house or a patrol trough a small town's main street.

what i would defenitly like to see in an island like this is a interstate/freeway system, not just a texture on the terrain but modeled, with overpasses and gaurd rails, maybe light fixtures every hundred meters. i'd love to see convoys on a 6 lane highway heading toward a smoke engulfed suburban battlfield.

I'd like a script adding in the scroll down menu of some armor units the possibility to switch on/off the tracking radar. I'm talking about Shilka and similar units http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Once switched on, it would make those units targetable by antiradiation missiles ( that I'm building up http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif ) and since I'm making also some radar units, it could be useful for mission making, adding new targets of opportunity during a patrol or a recon. What do you think about, guys?

Doubtless these have been requested before and may even be being worked on, but I found myself missing a few particular choppers lately, namely the spec ops versions of the blackhawk (MH-60L, K and M) and I&#39;m also desirious of USMC helicopters as mentioned above.

I dunno if this was requested yet so here it goes.
I have been looking for a M4A1 with M203 and EOTech sight and I havent found right one. In Desert Weapons Pack 1.2 by AimPoint there are eotech M4s but they are desert camo and that dont look that good on my PC since I have to run textures on low due to 1600 res. Camo is not that good for woodland ops either. Another is HK416 eotech from 6th Sense weapons pack but it has quite few bugs like circle from eotech sight on top of crosshair when zoomed out, GL has sound of hand grenade...
The reason for me to have this eotech sight is that you can aim so nice with it. Aimpoint edges come in a way a bit, FOV in not that great.
So, I would like to have a simple BIS texture black M4A1 + M203 + EOTech sight. Basicly the one from desert pack only with black textures. Since I do NOT have the knowledge to do this at all I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would make this addon. Maybe few more variants of it, like SD.

I PM'd Red a while ago, but got no response - just wondering if anyone would consider tweaking the default Blackhawk model so that there were not seats in the cargo area but it could still hold the same number of people (sitting on the floor + legs dangling over the sides, etc).

I made the boo-boo of starting up a new thread about this, my bad guys.

i have some screens from CS condition zero of Delta Operatives created to reskin the CT models, if anyone had the time and patience to create an addon with 5 soldiers complemented with the DCU cammo and black kevlar and webbing it would be a pretty sweet addon to use, if you took the desert camo pattern around the period of '97 and create a thicker vest like how Johnny's special ops look in black!! If i had the talent and time i would do it myself but i lack both! anyhow here are the screens for an example...

B52 is in the works from what I remember I think Gnat is working on it, tho he just finished all those subs so might be taking some time out.

An124 is in OFP, so get pemrission and I'm sure you would see it in Arma quick smart (I have a working personal version of this)

I did made a pretty good detailed HGU-56 helmet with face shield including the pilot NVG, like a good year ago...but sadly it is still in WIP stage (already unwrapped). I did mentioned it to a mod, but due to other projects it hasn't got high priority.
Maybe one day ;).

@<hidden> and others: If not mistaken, ACE did added my Cougar 6x6. Sadly this was an older project (if not mistaken done during OFP days...so quality isn't super).

There isn't a specific unit or vehicle that I'd like to see right now, however, I am curious to see if someone could create
an "Extended Animation" pack of scripts maybe?

What I mean specifically is, as of late the, the movie making aspect of Arma has opened a new interest for me as far as the overall game goes. I use the standard animations quite often, but I would like to see about adding some more to the game.

Anim's such as;
- Handshakes between characters (Different types)
- "Goose step" marching
- More subdued marching. (Like at a tomb of the unknown soldier)
- Prone, as in a character who is sleeping.
- Wave "Hello" or "Goodbye"
- Pointing "In Anger" (As if a character is saying, "I'm comin for you"
- More variations on the already present "Smoking" anim. Perhaps someone who is standing while smoking.
- Laughing. Perhaps more of a grandiose type laughing.

Those are a few of what I was thinking. Obviously, one could go on and on with this type of thing, but adding a few more couldn't hurt. I'd like to think that since these might be more script based addons it wouldn't take an insane amount of time to create them and if they already exist somewhere, please let me know and I will delete this post. But, I'd like to see the "Humanizing" of characters in this game continue simply because its unlike few others out anywhere.

I would love to see some light SEAL units, with boonie hats and no vests, instead using web gear. Picture the SLA sniper but with US pouches on their belt. It would be great to have this in woodland and DCU camo. Also, a CQB SEAL unit would be awesome, wearing the olive BDUs with the black SF helmet.

Also, if its possible, could someone make ACU infantry units without wearing any vests, and wearing a black infantyr beret, for use in basic training missions and the like.

Furthermore, could someone release a humvee and/or a police car with a search light on it? For the car, make it so you can switch to the "gunner" seat, but when you switch to the gunner your avatar stays in the driver seat, and you can control a small spotlight near the left hand rear view mirror.

Blank firing M4s would be awesome for training and video purposes. Nothingd worse then practicing CQB and a recruit flags a teammate while pulling the trigger, it kills the training op and its not exactly realistic to just say "oh ok, respawn and we will redo".

Another thing I'd like to see is the buffalo, at least I think I remember it being called the buffalo. Basically its the IED removing vehicle in use by the US military.

there is exactly the same unit - as you say in M81 woodland camo - and also you can see it in P85 for Arma1, but in Arma 2 you have to wait some time :)

- Skateboards (Okay, I guess that's a lot "inspired" by City Life, but Armatec won't let me use his ones)
- Nice civilian cars (i.e. some Volkswagen, Audi, Ford, Dodge, Subaru, Toyota, Renault etc.)
- Some other buildings (like a bank, some flats, shops etc.)

I know the City Life guys made some, but they don't let me use their addons for my RolePlay mod (WIP, started yesterday ;)).

i dont know if its been requested or mentioned, but i'd really love to see sling loading for transport helicopters (to sling small trucks, and damaged small helicopters), and trailers for trucks (to tow guns and such). Being able to move equipment and vehicles around the map is a must for large scale operations. It would be tremendously useful when it comes to recovering damaged vehicles.

Expanding on the same note, it'd be nice to see something like a chinook or equivilant that could transport vehicles both internally, and by sling load.

It was my favourite "old school" commando weapon until a patch flipped the sight up and now it's very hard to use the rifle sight.

Hi, remember to check LOD by LOD and Merge Near vertex, the BIS sample models have
more holes than a groullere cheesse; and also remember to check the textures paths on
all the LODs too, some are wrong or use four or six 2048x1024 textures when they only

Hi, the best option in my opinion will be to have your own M16A2-M203 as a stand alone addon, with it's own and easy to remember classname and a replacement addon in the form of a config.cpp transformed into a binarized .pbo that goes with your addon; in this way everyone will be happy; those that may only want your addon will have it, and those who may want to replace the BIS M16A2-M203 with one without that damn sight in the middle making hard to aim... could also enjoy it. I'll vote for your addon M16A2-M203 and a replacement in the same pack, always signed and with the public key.
But i'll suggest you Faulker ("Sir...") to flip down the M203 sight on the ViewPilot LOD only, so it'll be only up on the rest of the LODs and will keep serving as a refference when you don't aim down the rifle sight; like in the Aimpoint and iron sighted M4s on my pack. I think that's the best way of deal with the M203 leaf sight. Let's C ya

I think the A.C.E. mod speeds up the act of switching weapons.

^... yup but no switching can be faster than simply dropping the thing and bringing up a rifle. The whole animation should feel like the AT4 simply disappeared when button is hit and the rifle brought up like its brought up from the lowered weapon position. Now, that's fast. Due to this, I often find myself unable to get away or get my rifle ready for shooting when the tank crew disembarks.

One more addon suggestion for reflex sights...

The main advantage of reflex sights is the fact that it allows the shooter to focus on the target and still have the red dot in full focus over the target instead of focusing on the front sight as in iron sight shooting. This gives the shooter an immensely improved situation awareness and target acquisition.

In order to simulate the focus on target granted by red dots, an addon should be available to blur out red dot sights to semi transparent while the red dot itself remains in full focus. This is the main reason why red dots are preferred over iron sights and should be easily moddable by changing the texture on the current ones.

ArmA has already incorporated front and rear sight misalignment when turning while red dot maintains totally usable when turning in order to simulate one of the greatest advantage of red dot sighting, which is no longer needing eye/rear/front sight alignment when shooting. That's good work. With my suggestion, the full advantage of using red dots in real life can be brought into the game in full.

I have a thought for an addon for ArmA, and ArmA II. Like in real life we can use laser lights on our personal weapons or a laser light for aircraft, even other ground forces to see at night with nvg's. The laser light would show you a trail to follow to the target location being brighter at the target locations end. I dono if this is possable but just a thought.

The purpose is for PvP urban areas where I have the Hellfire's not used.

One other is IR Panels/ strobes for players, and vehicles for marine side only for ArmA, and ArmA II. I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up or not but.

The latter. Someone already made things like giant scorpions and "Starship
Troopers Arachnids" so [non-human] animals are certainly technically feasible
in ArmA I.

Thanks for your response Col. I had made an earlier request to have the paq-4 made operational since it was working in VBS2. And I would have thought making a camel or burro would be fairly easy and add more realism to the mid eastern maps that were produced but I am not a modeler or scripter so perhaps it was not as easy as I thought it might be. Always seemed a bit unrealistic to have paq-4 's on the weapons that were not working for night missions. And to have a camel or small burro to hide an IED in or to be used to block a convoy that was about to come under attack would have been really great.

Good Afternoon to everybody,

Thanks to computer switching, I started ArmA 1 few weeks ago, after playing OFP for a long, long time.

I decided to use some replacement packs, to get an "ArmA : Redux" version.

I'd like to replace RACS units by Skaven Addon, but the William1 file link is broken, and impossible to find it on Armaholic or Armedassault.info...

Does someone have the file and maybe could please provide nicely to me ?

The hats are easy to edit out.
In fact I'd just need to add non-binarized models that would allow me to mutilate parts and put together a new one that would look like it.
I'm not that serious about making the model though, it's pretty much just for the lols.

Hey,

Id like an anti gimp mod specifically for SP... one of the big immersion killers for me is seeing units crawling around still trying to fight... or i get shot in the leg and its pretty much start the mission over again because all i can do is crawl.

Maybe some time based self healing, where initially you can only crawl, then slow walk etc, or just the ability for any unit to heal... anything is better than just stuck on crawl

Be cool to have some sort simple first aid mod where you can have the functionality of all the first aid options, im meaning in SP where units/groups are spawned and the modules are automatically applied to all groups. i do like watching AI trying to help there buddies... its one of the coolest features in the game.

Maybe theres something out there that i havent seen yet, i dont want to use norrins because it only seems to work with one faction, and seems a bit over kill.

The pack has this in it along with other stuff, but you can use this by itself, just take the others out. when you bleed, or are injured then a first aid thing comes up.

ECS as i mentioned has an first aid thing in it as well.

There really isn't a specific addon or mod that setup for a first aid or medical, you may have to script it.
Someway make a general script and add it to your missions, personally I'd just add the addons and be done with it.

I'm currently preparing to make a sci-fi parody campaign that I originally wanted to edit under ArmA1 - but I realized that Hitcher's frenetic Space Invaders (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=66837) mod was unfortunately not converted to ArmA2. I already contacted him through PM regarding a possible conversion but didn't receive any response, so I thought I'd post my conversion request here as well to ask him for an ArmA2 version, 'cause maybe there are a couple of additional sci-fi fans besides me who'd want to see his alien ships and troops in action... :)

Thanks. Gonna try this stuff out. By the way, I downloaded and installed ''JTD_smokeEffekts_MP_beta_5_21'' and since then my AI have went.. I don't know, weird. And they're always throwing granades at me if im in range. Because as far as I know, the AI never throw granades otherwise.

Hey guys. After playing vanilla ArmA I and II for a long time now, I'm wondering if it's time for add-ons to refine and expand on the experience. The problem is, considering there's three major releases here (ArmA, ArmA II, and OA) I have no idea what mods I should be going for. I guess I'd like ones that directly add to the core of the experience. From my understanding, the ACE mods are just that, but do I need anything else? Does that change the mechanics for radios, or sounds or what have you?

Real life's been keeping me away for a VERY long time from Arma II CO.

At one point, I had to do an emergency uninstallation of large files, and so Arma II sadly went.

I want to play again, but I am missing a mod that I dearly loved, and I hope that someone out there could help me find it. I have searched high and low for it, with no success.

Here's what it did:


It allowed the player to skid into a low crouch position.

It permitted tactical shooting without direct observation of the target (i.e. "blind firing").

One could lay on one's side and fire.

One could also climb over walls 2.25 m. tall.

And more...

If you have a pretty good idea of which mod I'm describing here, please supply a link to a working download below.

Does anyone know of any good, modern, russian infantry addons? Im aware of the Russian Federation units and some others on armaholic but Im trying to find others. The stock east enemies are just too bland for me.

Hello,

Does anyone know any mod that increases squad dispersion?
I'm not talking about weapon dispersion, but the distance between squad leader (player) and the rest of the squad. Very often AI decides to follow player, but about 50 meters behind, sometimes so far away, that they get lost. Idea is, they should keep normal formation, and if someone gets too much behind - run and catch up.

This is a problem even when there are 2 soldier team (for example, sniper and spotter). The AI squadmate gets behind well too much, and I have to wait forever for him to catch up. It would be perfect if he would follow 2 meters behind, side by side, or, in combat, like 10 meters (to avoid 1 grenade killing whole squad).

I'm using ACE, nothing more. Which mod fixes this thing? I tried ECS, GL3, few others (don't remember).

Please suggest something. I can't find anything, while this should be very easy thing to mod (I guess).

I would very much appreciate any advice.

Does anyone know any mod that increases squad dispersion?
From the mods I have worked with and tested for my compilation you could give ARD a try:

that mod is pretty good with keeping the Ai with you, although its more of a formation mod, the AI do respond fairly well when you call them.

Subtle request here, gentleman. Most of the addons I'm using in ArmA I have successors in ArmA II, those being JTD and ACE. I do have a question however; are there any major mods that significantly enhance the experience? For example, a sound mod. I am way to used to SixUpdater and how ACE evolved into visual and audio boosts for ArmA II. :P

Can't go past Chammy's Sound Mod for A1 for my mind. It's be permanently on my A1 game since it came out.

Smaller enhancements include MadMatt's rain/smoke effects...I don't use any AI/dispersion mods.

Hmm, I went with ACE and I decided to use Gunter's WarMod. While I do think it improves the realism, I'm still a little stumped on the AI. I know ACE and WarMod both feature AI improvements, but that leads me to wonder; what of the difficulty values in the options? I've been tampering around with settings there and I noticed very little change between tampering with settings. I don't think I'm a military warrior here but I keep getting schooled when I try anything with opposing AI; they seem more accurate than me and far more able to take me out than I can do it to them. Of course, this is me putting the sliders at max, assuming the AI mods override these settings...

Sprint transitions are quite broken in ArmA. The idea is to replace sprint with run gameplay wise. This addon doubles the diagonal forward and straightforward run speed to make it equal to the sprint speed. In addition the diagonal forward and straightforward walk is accelerated by 150 percent to make it more useful.

There's two ARMA addons I've been looking out for, but so far unsuccessfully. If these things exist and someone could point to the right direction, I would be very grateful.

1) Binoculars tweak/fix that makes their selection behave logically, and only equips them when pressing the binded button or when selected via action menu.
You know, how the game has the tendency to treat the binoculars as another weapon (which I guess it basically is?) ->
- binoculars sometimes become equipped when dropping all weapons
- sometimes when using the "switch weapons" button
- everytime using binoculars while holding an RPG or any other launcher: pressing the binoculars button to unequip them equips the main weapon instead of raising the RPG again. (selecting launcher from action menu works, though)

2) Direct vehicle control instead of commands issued to the AI driver
"Forward!-left!-left!-right!-forward!-fast!" I think I don't have to explain this one? :rolleyes:
Direct control from the commander & gunner position would be beyond awesome and make using vehicles much more fluent and enjoyable.

Anyone have an idea if such mods exist?

You can do things like silence the orders being given to the driver but you can't change how the engine works. In terms of controlling the AI driver, I find less it more. Just give him general instructions and let him figure it out, and if you have precise things you need to do, switch to the driver position.

Oh, got another question: Are there any mods/addons that enable using the armory mode with other islands than just Rahmadi?
Of course, it's no big deal to fire up the mission editor, put in some stuff and blast away, but the armory is still decent if you don't feel like starting up a proper mission or dabbling with the editor. I've tried googling around, but about the only thing I've come across are mentions of custom islands not always working with Armory in ARMA II.
