View Full Version : Animals
I've found some file in Animals Pbo, Wolf & Rabbit.
Bi have plan those animals in a future release or something else ?
Im really hoping someone will make a Donkey, or Donkey with cart.
Animals play a big part and would be cool to make some texture variations on the existing animals

That's not a "request" http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/icon_rolleyes.gif
I'm just curious , why they don't finish, that's all ...

I'm pretty sure that the animals will be "activated" and finished in a future patch

yeah, Placebo stated somwhere that the animals will be part of a future patch...
when and where is a whole other story though....
but there seems to be quite a lot of stuff in ArmA that isnt "activated" yet...
It would be nice to see the Police Landrover "activated" as well
and maybe they'll add some police guys too?
I guess there is many more stuff that isn't put into the game yet...

yeah.... and my guess is that a lot of it will be activated after 505 releases the english version of the game.
it´s likely that we´ll have a major patch then.

A few common farm animals would be great and if a wolf
ever gets added it'd perhaps form a great base for a dog
addon (at the very least we really do need a few scabby
stray dogs sniffing about the streets on Sahrani!http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif.

Not to forget the SLA Millitary Police version of the UAZ ( skin is in the pbo too along with many other things like different rpg grenades )

A few...and then some common farm animals would be more to your liking I'm sure. I think you have taken on more than your share of "scabby strays" in your lifetime Col. Faulkner; it's best really, to disable them in your version of ArmA I think. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif

Some dangerous animals, in forested areas, would be great. They will be threats to both opfor as well as blufor.
Usage of guard dogs by the armies will also be nice, like the K9 unit in the US army.

I just don´t hope that they use a variant of the civillian AI for the animals. That would mean that you could see bears and deer driving around in jeeps and cars they happen to find http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Theres not much use for animals in a military sim except for comedy value... Personally i dont want to be mauled by a pride of tigers while sneaking through a forest to take someone out http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif hehe
Would have some comedy value though... i forsee maps named "ROADKILL!!1!1!" would be pretty funny to see some random animals flying through the air along Sahrani's roads http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Hunting mod anyone? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Description
This add-on pack adds a whole new dimension to 3D simulation and training. Having real world animals in scenarios creates the feeling of an even more synthetic combat environment. Watch the animals feed and move about in freedom, plus react to every possible situation especially in combat situations.http://virtualbattlespace.com/store/images/ani1_pack.jpg

Animals are cool to throw around randomly in missions, like sheep in farms, rabbits and foxes in forests, goats in mountainous, etc.
I once thought about "using" sheep to help ambushing an opfor convoy in a map http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif .
BIS knows how much love their loyal fanbase have for cute little animals combined with state of the art military hardware http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif .

It's an "ambush of tigers" or a "streak of tigers". Only lions
come in "prides". http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
No tigers? You've never watched "Apocalypse Now", then? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Large wild animals are a real threat, but mostly in tropical
(ie. jungle or bush) areas, which the ArmA island of course
isn't, so animals would practically only add a bit of realistic
ambiance to the vanilla ArmA maps.
It's very easy to multiply real life examples of danger from
large animals (ie not including insects) in jungle environments
alone; several American soldiers were killed by tigers in
Vietnam (one Marine patrol even abandoned a mission to go
kill the tiger and skin it). British soldiers in the Malayan jungle
were attacked by tigers in the 1950s (SOP was for the whole
section or platoon to stand to as if it was an attack -
"Stand to!...Tiger!" - and blast it with small arms). The
only casualty of the Australian SAS in the Indonesian war in
1965 was killed by an elephant. There are many other
recorded instances.
Animals are a threat in unexpected places too. Once on an
ex. in the UK I got repeatedly bitten by an adder (a
poisonous snake native to Britain). The bloody thing went
berserk, but it was my own fault I suppose for taking cover
on top of it. I had to be "casevaced" because of that. One
doesn't expect to be hospitalized by a snakebite in
Scotland! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif
Farm animals were also a "threat" to covert OPs in rural areas
in Northern Ireland. If they could get near, the damn cows
would always come over and say "hello" (or rather "mooo!")
thus compromising our OPs to the bad guys.
You could have things like the above, I suppose, but I
wouldn't ever expect a game like this to be so detailed.
Animals in most cases, like I said, would add realism but not
much more (but if I ever should make an ArmA jungle mission
in the future, then watch out for tigers.... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif )
or pack animals.... nothing like having a walking ammo box

you could even release a mod which allows you to wear their skins. imagine the look in your enemy's eye when that suspicious looking sheep jumps up and blasts them with a twelve-gauge.
you could also possibly use them to distract enemies or even attach bombs to them WW2 soviet style.
Are there no animal addons for arma yett? I would so like to have a deer or something in a mission Im making.
