View Full Version : Recieving while playing
Hey, sometimes when im playing i get the reciving screen come up during normal gameplay, just driving around or in combat, it sometimes wont happen for ages, and other times keep happening, it lasts about 15 seconds. Its not so bad on SP but on MP its a real pain, iv updated my drivers etc and lowered GFX settings but it makes no difference. Anyone know how to fix it ?

Hi,
I've got the game since release and didn't have the "Receiving"-Bug such often since I have patched to final 1.01.
When I play Evolution Marines 0.2 I get the blackscreen with the message hardle every 5minutes. If I press on "Respawn" or get killed, the games goes on normally at the respawn-point.
My sys:
6000+
2gig RAM
4870 (1gig)
vista sp1
25mbit connection
Whats the problem, do I need more memory? Its unplayable if the fuckin blackscreen comes every 5 minutes...
Second problem:
When I make a restart, the PC cant find the DVD (which is already inserted)...
Its the german release.
So I have to open the drive and close it again. Then the PC can read from the DVD. A friend has the same problem. So its not just because of my drive and he tested it on Vista and on XP...same problem!
I have exactly the same problem. It even happen sometimes in other missions, but very rare. Others can play that mission w/o any problems. I don't know if it is mission related or arma2.
What are ur settings? Maybe it belongs to a specific setting. Btw: Sometimes if I open the map, the bug just dissapear. Does not work always.
My settings:
Resolution: 1280x960
Fillrate optimizer: 88% (bug happens at 100% too)
Visibility: 1600
Texture detail: Normal
Video memory: Normal
Anisotropic filtering: deactivated
Terrain detail: Low
Object detail: Normal
Shadow detail: deactivated
Postprocess effects: Low
My System:

ATi HD3870 (512 MB VRAM)
Win XP Pro SP3

This happened to me in arma, might be vid memory. So try turning texture detail down. And I know this sounds weird but for me in ARMA turning it UP fixes it, so try up aswell.
had that on a nvidia crad, updated the drivers, problem solved for me ( now running nvidias latest drivers, hope they are stable with arma as well ;) )

Jun 7 2009, 15:58
Mhh, no the drivers are Up2Date...
Ive now installed WinXP32 and tonight I will give it a try. Hopefully it works better then-.-
And after 1.02 is released I will order a new DVD from the publisher. Disable securom or fix the DVD!
I don't think installing Win XP will make a difference because I have XP and bug happened to me as well. I found serveral other posts about that bug in the internet and everyone who has that problem has just 2 GB RAM like I have. May that the problem? Not enough RAM?

I had this problem extremly often on chernaurus.
After using Kegety's blur/bloom fix, I never saw the "Recieving" Screen again.

Damit wird ja die Grafik auch dramatisch anders oder?
Die ganzen "Schlier-Effekte" sind dann auch weg. Nicht das mich das stört....

This forum is english language only.
Yes, the graphics will change a bit, but only the ugly blur and bloom is gone.
With Kegety's fix, ArmA2 looks more like a simulation again and not like a "3D-shooter" anymore.

The best way is testing it by yourself.
The fix is very small in file size, easy to "install" and easy to remove.
This picture was made with the fix activated:

For me, the graphics are more than ok.

hehe, now ive testet it for a half hour on a 50/50 server.
great, no laggs, no errors. i think its related to the memory.
but tomorrow I will have more time to check it
It works? Hmm I like blurr and bloom. But until BIS fix those bad shaders and stuff there is no other solution ... k, I give it a try
Ok, tested it, doesn't work for me. Still getting it.

Hey Clown, maybe you mix something. This thread is about that "receiving bug".
It might be something related to video memory or whatever, but I did not experienced any lag before I see the "receiving..." screen.

I know what the thread is about, ive created it.
But as I said, since ive got clean XP I have no lags AND no "receiving"-message...
not 1 time!
The weird thing is that I can't open the menu anymore BUT I can still look at the scrores, write and see the chat.
I need to kill the arma2.exe to get out of the game.
Hmm ... it's getting really annoying and makes it unplayable for me.

Well, I meant not mixing laag caused by maybe something else with this "receivng".
I have XP 32 SP2, but I would never make it "clean".
You might never experience that issue any more since you do not come into a short resource bottleneck situation triggering this "receiving" where the game can not recover from.

What I also relized was that (i use a G15 with display) when I got the "bug", I had 25-30 frames. But every 5-10 seconds there was a "refresh", a beating.
5secs ~25frames, then 1/2sec 0fps, then again 5secs 25fps...
Im quite sure that you will have the same issue.
Anybody who got the bug and a G15 keyboard, please test it with Fraps.

Yes you could be right, I have it in de Evolution Marines maps. I can only get out by pressing CTRL ALT DEl.
I also have it in the AIR cavalry maps, but then I can fix it by pressing M (maps) and it is gone.

I have the same reveiving problem. in mulitplayer, the game has to be killed by ALT+F4 when the error occurs, in singleplayer it will just crash to desktop. the error is easily reproducable by spawning in the editor in a motorbike on the coast-street in the south west of chernagorsk and driving into the city. if the textures and graphics memory slider is set to low, and the rest all on very high, the game runs fine, no problem at all. on textures and memory on normal, i would get some recieving screens in the outskirts of chernagorsk(not more), while I might get the recieving screen repeating itself forever in multiplay mode(on any mission after a short time of playing). the sliders on high or very high will make the game crash even faster on both singleplayer(editor) and multiplayer...so its absolutely unplayable for me on higher texture and graphic memory details than low.
i have a core i7 920(non-overclocked)
a gigabyte ex58-ud5
6gb of corsair ram
a sapphire hd 4870 with 512 mb vram
i am running windows vista 64bit business.
maybe these obsevations help someone until there is a fix for higher detail settings, as the game really looks much better with higher settings:)
sorry for my english,

in singleplayer it will just crash to desktop.
Then we do not talk about the same problem maybe

Jun 13 2009, 12:45
well, might be, but in fact I get a repeated recieving screen which you can't get rid of other than killing the game by ALT-F4. Obviously that is even worse than the problem mentioned in the starting post, as it can not be interrupted. It is important to mention that it is not recieving for a long time, just for around 4 secs or so, and then there is a tiny transition to black, and then the recieving screen is back.
the most interesting fact is, that it can be turned off by setting textures and memory size to low.
just do the test, open the editor, place yourself on a motorbike and drive into chernagorsk, and tell me if something is happening when settings are on low.
then do the same with high details and tell me if there is a difference.
the problem is at least close to yours.
---------- Post added at 12:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:19 AM ----------
well, i even got the recieving now with low details in multiplayer. that game is so awesome in the few minutes i can play it, and that is what is making me so angry...I really want to know how this game can be played. i tried it with 2 different sapphire hd4870 , both make it impossible-.-
there were even some artifacts before the recieving bug occured....
but the cooling on both cards is regulated manually in the ccc, they are both not too hot..

If you got a second partition: Just install a fresh Windows and test it again.
For me it worked. I didnt change anything @<hidden> BIOS or other sys-configs.

How do I check if I have the Vista server packs? I'm running Vista 64 Ultimate, and I don't think I have ever manually installed the service packs, however, it may have been an auto installation that I am unaware of.

There is no clean picture here:
For some 178 or 185 or 186 beta was helping, for others not.
For some a new naked OS cured the issue for some not.
Maybe I should kill a black cat at full moon?
I will for sure not go into a OS reinstall, to much work for a 50/50 chance.
I expect from BIS a insight under which circumstances the "Receiving ..." screen is triggered to be able to do a rather analytic troubleshooting instead of executing every voodoo mentioned in the threads.

Against my own statement not doing any voodoo anymore I upgraded video driver another time - to NV190.15 - and it works a little bit better now. Still get from time to time the "receive..." screen, of course always in the middle of an attack, but now I can rcover by toggling to map and back. And it is more seldom. Instead of getting trapped after max 2 minutes I made my 1st MP crCTI 0.4 .... to victory.

Same thing happens to me....it didn't do it before the 1.02 patch....very annoying
The "receiving" screen during normal means something has gone wrong, like system memory surface allocation has failed, or driver reported an internal error. Before patch 1.02 the behaviour in this case was to terminate the application. Since 1.02 we reset the device and continue running.
You might find some more details about the reason of the reset in your ArmA2.rpt file.

That's the log. I only was able to play 10 minutes at this time. Sometimes it happens immediatley sometimes it happens after 45 min and sometimes it does not happen at all. So could be a dev so kind and tell me what the problem is and y arma2 is not able to load those textures?

It is actually not true what Suma mentioned:
Before patch 1.02 the behaviour in this case was to terminate the application. Since 1.02 we reset the device and continue running.
...or I understood it wrong. It never terminated the application, but I HAD to terminate the application to get out of the "Receive..." screen blinking in some cases. If I was lucky, I could solve it by tabbing with "M" to map and back.
Last night it happend 2 times to me that it did not work.
Never had this kind of issue with ArmA 1 (but random CTD instead).

Why it only gives such problems with ArmA 2?
I get this too, so its doubtful its a problem on our side.

I get the same "Receiving..." black screen often (in single play it mostly just pauses the game, but it MP it means getting killed pretty quickly).
I get it sometimes just driving along previewing the map in the editor (with no other units or vehicles spawned). I get it in SP and MP missions.
Sometimes it will start to blink (like everytwo seconds).....which usually means the game has locked up.

your rig details?
Mine are :
WinXPSP2

Shame, graphics is the only area with significant improvement in ArmA 2 and especially this seems to cause most of the problems for me.

I get save points when I host a MP mission (at least on a LAN).
Now I wonder if it's somehow related.

I have checked the code and I think I have found one case where the Reset is done in mistake. The case is when textures needed for the scene do not fit into limits set by Texture memory detail. I will try to fix this in the next patch. Until then you you might try lowering your Texture detail or increasing the Texture memory settings as a workaround.

Thank you for your respond and I'm really looking forward to the next patch.
Good to hear that this might be fixed in the next patch :)
I already tried to raise the texture memory, unfortunatley it didn't make a diffrence. I will try to lower texture detail then, but low texture detail looks very ugly.

I have checked the code and I think I have found one case where the Reset is done in mistake.
Thx for the quick reply Suma.
One question to make this clear to me: "Device reset recovery requested" does trigger what action exactly? because either it triggers something wrong, or my system reacts wrong by getting stuck.
I mean whatever goes wrong, a "recovery action" should "recover" from that situation means I notice a short flickering/wrongLOD/black screen and then it goes on as normal.
No is the question what exactly makes that we stuck and the black screen remains in some cases and the "Receiving..." disappears only for 1s but keeps flashing this way? Does it means it stucks in a restart loop?

Hmm, I get this recieving thing but only sometimes after I switch from map view back to normal view and occasionally after the game auto saves. I'll get the recieving message for about 20 seconds, I can still hear game sounds and according to my friends who are in my server (which is usually when I get it) that the game is still running.
It's not so much of a problem if you're on foot but I can imagine this turning into a nightmare later in game, when you're trying to fly something and the game autosaves, only to leave you with a black screen for 30 odd seconds..
I get 'receiving...' for 2-3 seconds when closing the map. Is that intended?
I updated to 1.02 and tried both 190.15 and 186.18. No cure, when I play and enter a busy scenario "receiving..." is pestering me.
RPT is full with:
Vertex buffer not allocated
In ArmA 1 I never had this particular problem at the same comp.
I have analysed your report once more and what is strange to me is the "Vertex buffer not allocated" message. This message should no longer be produced by 1.02, corresponding code containing it has been removed.
Can you delete your .rpt to make sure we are not analysis some left-overs from previous sessions?
Can you make sure you are really running 1.02 (both in the main game menu you should see 1.02.58064, and in the .exe file properties the version should be 1.2.0.58064)?

I notice (in XP 32bit) this will happen to me (like the first poster) I if have the /3gb switch added at boot. If I remove this back to 2 gig this problem never happens.
Also with /3gb switch in XP you can get texture flickers, I noticed animation missing (you drop to floor and one moment your upright, next on the floor without any in-between), also sound delays and pauses, plus the "Receiving ..." screen every so often that pauses, this doesn't happen removing the /3gb switch.

It was only in 1.01, it never appeared in any of the 1.02 .rpt's.
I forgot to delete the .rpt during 1.02 upgrade manually and I do not know if your upgrade procedure was supposed to do it. AFTER I once deleted it, that vertex thingy was not seen anymore, only this
Error: Failed to create surface texture (HWHATEVER-TEXTURE.paa[#])
followed by
*** Device reset recovery requested
To be sure, I deleted several times the rpt, played until the bug appeard, and then saved rpt under different name. Significant is always the Failed to create surface texture as last or almost last entry, all spam around is related to the buggy mission code of crCTI warfare 0.4.
I have an account in devheaven, should I open a TT related to this issue and dump all my rpt's as full file there together with other files you might need?

Gents, please state your HW settings and post your .rpt content after crash or upload then into a TT in the ArmA 2 bugtracker.

Could you PLEASE merge this thread with

Where does ArmA2.rpt reside? Ive had multiple flashing 'Recieve' screens now and I've had to kill off the arma2.exe process. Had a look on my hard disks and not been able to find this ArmA2.rpt file.

I tried serval diffrent Settings now for example I lowered Texture Detail to low as Suma posted. No diffrence. Doesn't matter if I put Texture Detail to low and Video Memory to low, high or anything else. Even with EVERYTHING on low I'm getting it.

I deleted ArmA2.cfg and placed a naked one.
ArmA 2 after start recognizes only localVRAM=461344769 instead of 768xxxxxx. WHy that?
Edit:
I set localVRAM manually to 720000000 and locked the file since ArmA 2 was setting it to 370000000.
But all this is fuzzy trial and error.
We have the supplier on one side throwing crappy GPUs with crappy drivers into the market.
We have a game developer that is utilizing those cards in the right or wrong way - who can judge?
There is a significant portion of end- customers in-between geting BSODs/CTD/gamslocks/graphic disturbances etc
BIS, can you at least try to work on the survivability of your application? I am not asking anymore for normal graphics, just make that it can recover from problematic situations.

Hmmm at one point I thought this 'Receiving' error (for want of a better word).. was down to my ancient PC / Graphics Card, but now I'm not too sure.. as I'm seeing reports from other players experiencing the same issues and they all have different hardware setups..
The most common thing which keeps cropping up is:
Error: Failed to create surface texture (\Path_to_problematic_texture_here)
*** Device reset recovery requested
Why is this occuring? It's a common complaint across all spectrums of hardware..
- Is this down to the game engine having issues with the textures? Is it issues with the textures themselves? Is it the way the game engine accesses and uses these textures? or are they missing from the distribution? Is it an issue with your graphic card VRAM? (or whereever the textures are stored for access)?
What leads me to believe that the graphis engine is problematic is that pressing (M) for map - (I'm making assumptions here on what I see on screen) takes you from a 3D game engine to a 2D (map representation)?? and when pressing (M) to get back to the game environment, sometimes the 'Receiving' goes away and you're then presented with the 3D world again.. Which again leads me to believe the game engine is having a hard time accessing and using these textures (for whatever reason) in the 3D environment...
I'd like to see BI/Development explain in detail if necessary why so many people are getting this error. And fix it as it's spoiling our game experience.. (of what could be a really excellent game)..
Also while I remember & forgetting the minimum / recommended system specs on the box.. It would be nice for BI to let us players know what was their PC/Graphics setup inhouse.. what did they have in the way of hardware to give them an excellent game experience?? (even maxed settings)..
Thats all I'd like to know... even if to get that "game experience" you need the dogs bo**ox hardware setup - then at least you know (one way or another) what you need to set and exceed your expectations of the game/software...

Yesterday I tried some other voodoo, I de-fragmented my drive. It has 100G, 45G used, it said 54% fragmented, after that 4%, but ArmA 2 behaves EXACTLY the same way after this.
Next voodoo: beheading a goat, pulling goat-head over mine and dancing naked around my rig.
I will let you know if it helped.

....receiving bug is here again- after playing for days now with out this bug, now it´s here again. i made no changes. today i changed some things to get this damn bug away....older nvidia driver, settings in game to low and normal, aa=4, aa=2, aa=0.
this game is like a DIVA or little princess- one day everything is so beautiful another day everything is like SH..
in multiplayer this receiving screen never disappears and i have to shut down arma in the task manager.

win xp 32 sp3
the game has now good performance but it is no joy to play it this way

Seems to happen on my system since the last patch update, but that might just be coincidence. I'm also trying out different video settings to find good fps vs good visuals

I'm getting sick of waiting :/ I payed for that game. It wasn't that cheap and it could be a really good game like ArmA was/is.
At least we have error codes now, the devs can now exactly point out the problem.

I can replicate it anytime I exit a helo after a flight in a Domination game with all settings on "high".
Turning all settings to "normal", I played online for four hours w/o a hitch.
So, somewhere in between I expect I'll find my solution.

Just to convince BIS that it is their part. Can not be that so many different GPUs /drivers/rigs are broken. I rather point to ArmA 2 to be broken.
Another victim of the "receiving" loop.
I had been playing fine all day, then one of the games I went to the map, back into the game and got stuck at receiving. Go to an external view and back to first person, receiving, go to the map and back, receiving, just run around, goes to receiving.
There was not a single change made between games, like this came out of nowhere. Tried grabbing a screen video with FRAPS. It recorded, but at the point where the loop begins ARMA crashed to desktop with the error "Error: Device Freed".

I am now getting the Receiving.... Error all the time in Multiplayer. It is ok when you first spawn and if I try to travel a distance after about 20 seconds or so I get a black screen with a flashing Receiving... and it just goes on forever.
It is impossible to play multiplayer, doesn't seem to happen in single player though jsut multiplayer.
I am getting somewhat frustrated at these issues, flickering textures on buildings and now this is really turning me off.

this is the 5th forum or so I have found with the same basic problem. Hundreds if not thousands of players are experiencing difficulty.
G-dam I realllly just want my $ back. No game is good enough for this. ..
is there really no fix for this yet? I jsut read through at least 6 pages of this crap and nobody has even deciphered their error log correctly yet.

actually this could be related to this thread anus.
He is getting a crash that completely denies him the ability to play the game.
It also shares fatal crash characteristics of the receving error which thousands of people seem to be receiving...what a joke. :butbut:

Yesterday I tried some other voodoo, I de-fragmented my drive. It has 100G, 45G used, it said 54% fragmented, after that 4%, but ArmA 2 behaves EXACTLY the same way after this.
Next voodoo: beheading a goat, pulling goat-head over mine and dancing naked around my rig.
I will let you know if it helped.
How did it go mate?
I personally am devoting my voodoo time to making small effigies of BIS dev's and stabbing needles into them...though in hindsight this might hinder their ability to help us...oh well it makes me feel better in lieu of actual constructive help :)

Oh, I did not reached that stage :D
I am rather stunned seeing that BIS is doing EXACTLY the same mistake as with ArmA 1 - releasing a from functionality point of view unique application - full with bugs.
Even if the "receiving..." bug would be solved which avoids playing at all, behind that 200+ bugs/design-oddities are waiting for me.
I do not understand this company.
I didn't want my first post to be a complain but the more the better... I've just bought the steam version and gave it a try on multiplayer and shockingly I got this now famous black screen with Receiving... in the middle. If I understood correctly after reading this thread is that the error is caused by some texturing crap. The odd thing is that the game runs very well, I don't have any lag with high/normal settings. I don't seem to have any problems in the editor either even with dozens of AIs in my line of sight. BI got lucky this time, I wouldn't have bought the game if I knew about the problem.
My system:
Core2Duo E7300 @<hidden>,66Ghz
4Gb ram
Geforce 9800 GT 512mb
WIndows XP SP3 32-bit
I'm not sure which driver I have since it says version 6.14.11.8122
Until now every game worked just fine with this version so I'm not keen to change it.

Regarding the receiving bug. I've had this before, but until last night I'd had no bother for over a week (the receiving bug only seems to hit me when I first enter the game and doesn't interupt once I've started OK). But last night I couldn't join the server my clan runs and another of our members had the same problem even though we'd both played on the server for 3 consecutive nights.
We restarted the server and we were both straight in. So it seems that it could be a server issue not a home PC issue. Not sure if the server gets it's knickers in a twist and wants to try and send info that doesn't exist and/or isn't needed.
Unfortunatley this doesn't help people out there who don't have their own server but it might help the developers identify where the problem is. Oh and for the record I didn't restart my game whilst restarting the server.
OK so as I mentioned before I have been getting this problem initially mainly in multiplayer. However it suddenly hit single player and very badly. It is some kind of corruption occuring, something to do with graphics for sure.
In single player I was only able to move about 20 metres before I got the Receiving... which made the game unplayable. Then it got worse, started to get bad in game single player stuttering and finally white triangles moving around the screen etc etc. I thought it can't be my GPU it is brand new and it was unopened and I do not overclock and it is winter here so overheat I don't think so.
In desperation I uninstalled ARMA2, cleaned install directory, re-installed ARMA2 1.01 and then the new patch to 1.02.xxxxx. I load up single player on normal settings and pray. What do you know a totally stutter free and no receiving... at all. So I turn up the graphics to high/very high and the game looks beautiful, much better than I have seen it and smooth gameplay, less HDD loading and no slowing down and best of all over 1hr no Receiving when I was getting it every 10 seconds.
So I try my luck at multiplayer. 50 players on a server! this will be good. Login and hold my breath. Get in a helicoptor because this always gave Receiving... constantly to the point where I had to ALT F4 out. What do you know not a single Receiving or CTD or stutter or graphic corruption. The game ran flawlessly.
OK so what fixed it? well full clean and re-install. I have a suspicion this problem may creep back in again. There must be some file(s) that are written to which is read during the game which is causing these issues. I have not been able to put my finger on it but when I get some time maybe this evening I'll try and find which files are being written to.
When it works it is a damn nice game.
Oh also I never changed a single thing in a game file so corruption was not me.

The times are gone when you did <format c:> + reinstall on every hickup.
This is shooting with nukes on flies. I rather want from BIS/NVIDIA the right drug/poison to kill that fly which is pestering me.
It can't be Nvidia relatetd because I have an ATi and still getting it. Tried diffrent driver. :/
Ok the problem I thought I fixed has now reappeared in multiplayer.
I am so sick of this Receiving.... issue I cannot play the game, it is really bad. I really do hope BIS are listening because this is just wrong.

Well, for what its worth I had this last night in a MP game.
But, and this is the thing it only occurs when I access the map and then attempt to switch back to the game.
I'd been playing the game for an hour or so before this started to happen, so i'm inclined to believe that the engine is having problems getting the render in place after a lot of system and VRAM has been occupied.
The bigger question is why on earth does switching to a map require the game to 'reinitialize' anyway?
OK got sick of the 4870 card giving me Receiving.... and tried every trick, install/re-install under the sun. Just now I changed back to my older NVIDIA 8800GTS and guess what, no more Recieving... after 3 hours of play, multiplayer or singler player.
It seems to me that ATI drivers are shit. I should of not gone against my better judgement and bought an ATI card in the end. I will never buy another one that is for sure, in fact I might send them a bill for the 10 hours I spend trying to fix their crap.
Everyone get rid of ATI if you can, if you can't pray they release working drivers.

...the return of the receiving bug!
i can not believe that this is an ATI problem cause so much people with nvidia cards got the same bug over and over again.
i got it in Arma2 1.0, 1.01, 1.02 and the last patch-
in 1.00 i got it since the first move in the campaign also in MP
in 1.01 i got it after few houres of playin
in 1.02 it was gone few days then it returns
in the last patched version it´s like a mixture of all patches
and the bad thing is that the BTD or CTD is since 1.02

There's a lot of potential fixes, a lot of which don't work for a lot of people
The best 2 fixes are to cool your CPU heavily (even if it isn't overheating)
2nd being to lower your video card memory amount in the video options (prerably low to test).
Hope that helps, if not, have a search around for some other fixes in these forums

Bulldogs did you even bother to read the 14 pages before posting such obvious comments?
People have tried everything, all combinations of settings etc etc. If you want to help then please read what has been done before you came along and then make some suggestions that nobody has tried as yet. Also WTH would I want to cool a CPU that is not overheating, a weird suggestion.
Also I want to know why BIS decided to have a setting for Video memory in the first place and an ambiguous one at that which just confuses the user. I mean WTH is Low and what is very high and what is in between? we can only speculate on this.
BIS please make this auto detected and not settable, why would we want to have another setting confusing us?

Ok.. so now it happened for the forth time.
It seems to happen a lot when I zoom in with a sniper rifle.
I'm getting so freaking fed up with all the bugs in this game!
I cancelled some plans to play with the guys tonight and we end up getting messed up by the bad programming for hours instead...
Fix this now please... It's the best game ever but it's just so buggy and crappy now.
I find that if I increase my video memory to high I get this problem. Puttng it to normal and the problem goes away.

Makes no difference what settings I have I seems to often get this. The weird thing is I can login to a multiplayer game 10 times and I get this issue 8/10 times but the other two times it plays smooth for 1+ hours at least, maybe mission/locale dependent?
Also single player again it is intermittent and there was last night playing a randomly generated mission I had Receiving every 10 metres I moved in game and then finally a CTD.
There is a real issue here and no word from BIS is more than a little frustrating.

I have the receiving data problem. I use to play on a Domination 2 server and the weird thing is that some classes doesn't work sometimes.
--- When I pick a class and then hit "ok" it sometimes says "Receiving Data..." for ever.
Most of the time it is a leader/commander class, who have othere abilities then "common" soldiers such as to give orders. Sometimes I can pick a leader class.
When I alt tab when it says Receiving Data I sometimes manage to get in to the game when I alt-tab back and sometimes it says "you have been kicked from the game". Notice that I can get in to the game if I choose the right class.
