View Full Version : Close Protection Operatives

I was wondering if any of the texture artists had contemplated making a CPO (Close Protection Operative, Mercenary or Bodyguard, take your pick) for ArmA. I have some nice write-ups for CPO-like missions, but not suitable models for the job.

What I was thinking was that one could retexture the news reporter model. He looks kind right if you could just get some new colours on him (like erasing the bloody big 'PRESS' tag on his back).

Unfortunately I have no idea how to manipulate textures, so I turn to the enlightened ones who do. Anyhow, it's just a suggestion that someone might hopefully think is cool. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

This is planned for Scratch Modworks, once tools arrive, inclusive customised SUVs.

it would seem that the area we tried to cover for OFP is becoming more popular. Can't wait to see some of your work http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

I was hard at it in OFP, but ran into the same model-related trouble there as well. Got a hold of Mehanic's Ford Expedition and Explorer, but the damn things didn't have any idea of where they were driving nor if they'd been hit. A shame too, since they were quite stunning visually.

Very well then, if you guys have something in the works, I'll put the CPO deal on hold for now and do something else until then - the new danish models from DDAM look promising.

By the way: If you are doing cutomized SUVs, would you mind making it possible to shoot small arms from the pasenger seats as well? Can't be that hard to implement, hehe. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

How is this? Everything is in early stages though and I havn't done much progress lately. I changed quite a few things already, but I didn't put the new file in game yet so you see some older stuff http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Holy crap dude! That's wonderful work right there. I like how you got the guy posing like on the Making a Killing cover. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

What's the progress report on these guys and when can I get my greasy little mittens on them?

Thanks
I haven't done much on them in the last week and I still have many things to add. I don't want to give out any release date, but it shouldn't take too long. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

yeah, after you posted the link to the Making a Killing cover I simply had to do a similar pose http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

yeah till the next weekend I should be able to do an update, I already changed some stuff (desert kneepads on one or two units for example) and stumbled across some pieces of equipment I would really like to add cause it looks awesome in real life http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif (don't know how it will look ingame and if it doesn't look good I'll take it out again)
I also have to work on the SEK-pack which I actually want to rlease first http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Another thing thats holding me back at the moment is that I found my love for helicopter battles in arma, with the new flightmodel it's a blast chasing helicopters in your littlebird http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif )

TO make the long story short: There should be an update till saturday

Looking forward to it mate.

Started implementing my CPO scenarios - next big hurdle are the crappy vehicles. As I have experienced it so far, the troubles are threefold:

1) Can't get a decent four-wheel drive vehicle with more than two seats. The pick-up has a third "seat" but it's pretty much worthless since you can't observe behind the car from there.

2) The big cars are able to push the smaller ones, albeit at a very leisurely pace. And most times they just run over them at some point, which was not the idea.

3) Reverse gears are too slow for my taste.

These and the inability to shoot out of the vehicle, but that's something we will have to live with I guess.

A work in progress, as always.

EDIT: By the way SOBR, are you up to something CPO related? If so we might want to brainstorm a bit, if you're up to it.
