That was also something I was wondering about.

A WWI mod would also be nice. I remember one being in the works for OFP called No Man's Land mod.

I'm rather counting on it. I think that ArmA is best suited
to warfare of that era since most aspects of the modern
"battlespace" are not really well supported by it at all. I
have a mind to do some "postwar" stuff myself.

I always taught the Amred Assault engine just as the OFP engine would be suited to pretty much any war from (some theatres of) World War I on-wards.

The engine is suited from everything from your light class war, peacekeeping, gurrilla ambush wars, to your full fledged conventional war.

Even with clever scripting I'm pretty sure you can do "nepolionic" style warfare and even maybe "mediveal" style warfare.

Relating back to this question:

WWII mods should heopfully start soon. Give it time after 505 complete their world wide release you will see mods of every calibare and everything you can imagine start up. Mods releasing stuff is another thing.

That isn't what I was meaning. Yes, you can use it
for modern day warfare, but ArmA does not support the
most salient features of 21st Century combat "out of the
box" and would require complex and extensive modification
in order to model it with any sort of authenticity. The
modern "battlespace" is quite a bit more than a bunch
of yanks running about with "aimpoints" on their M16s
with a crude and unrealistic "night vision" view as the
epitome of "high technology". ArmA's real forte is in
open conventional low-tech' engagements. It models
such engagements really quite well without any further
ado (the AI notwithstanding) which is why I said it is
eminently suited to a Second World War and postwar
milieu.

actually the only reason i bought armed assault was to play world war 2 mods cause i despise modern warfare. I know there is a pacific war mod in the works. Please i want to know if there are any other world war 2 mods in development cause with the engine its going to be the best looking world war 2 game/mod out there.

There'll definatley be WW2 mods for ArmA, every single game that has any modding potential immediatley gets 25000 WW2 mods. Then you have to weed out the good ones and the ones that don't give up and never release a thing.

As with all other mods and addons.

Yeah, the "huge, all encompassing" mod model doesn't often
work out, does it? Shame, as I'd have loved to have
seen "Inv '44" properly finished.
