EDIT: Added in "Mission type"

For keeping it as easy as possible:

Quote[/b] ][Name of mission][Mission type][Amount of players][@<hidden>=addons / -=no addons][Maker and other info]

Example for a 16 player MP mission called "Cold Morning", with addons, and a Co-Op

Quote[/b] ][Cold Morning][Co-Op][16][@<hidden>][JW]

Example for the same but without addons, and now a CTF

Quote[/b] ][Cold Morning][CTF][16][-][JW]

Keeping it easy when searching for missions, both on sites, and ingame.

How about it?

there is a old system made by Terox for OFP. Isnt that working? Mainly since all OFP players are used to it.

ctf_25_mapname, its easy and good.

Agreed!

Plus, with this naming convention the Admins of servers can immediatly see first what type of mission, seconded by the number of players, and that is the most important when picking a mission with a server loaded, if all fit in.

Finally, sometimes the mapnames are so big if u put the ammount of players to the end you just cant see for how many players is a mission until you have picked it up.

I really don't see why the old working "co 8 somemission.island.pbo" standard should be replaced. The order is especially important since people usually have their missions sorted alphabetically and type of game and the maximum amount of players are much more relevant than the name of the mission or it's maker, for example.

EDIT: Well, seems that lolsav said all this before me already. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

It's your right, but when you release missions to public, thats not good. It would be great to have official "one and only" standard of correct naming, packing, readmes of all the stuff (addons, missions, etc).

Well, it's an idea, we can work on it..

And when reading your suggestions, you'd rather like
type - player amount - addons/no addons - etc etc
?

"[type] [maxplayers] [name]" and also "[minplayers]-[maxplayers]_[type (one letter)]_[name]"

but I like the idea to add @<hidden>[addon] at the end

and also all letters should be "lowercase" or "Title Case"

Found the discussion and the results here (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=2;t=26694;hl=terox). It was with spaces btw, not underscores http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

I'd like to see the old OFP naming convention carried forward to ArmA - it just makes sense, type first, max players second, name third.

This is what the admins need, it just makes it easier.

Do you add those names to the map file name or the description in the editor so it shows in the mp screen or both? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

I just read though terox idea its nice.

The mission makers really need to stop making up new game types.
So far I've seen:

COOP
CTF
DM
SC
Team
ALCH
MR COOP
FF
Hold
ClassicDM
AL-CTF

ALCH, MR COOP ClassicDM AL-CTF are bad ideas. It's better to stick to a small number of gametypes.

COOP, CTF, DM, SC or C&H, TEAM, FF, CTI should be standardized on. Unless someone comes up with something really revolutionary.
Which of Sector Control and Capture and Hold is best I don't know.

No, I get the data from my statistics spider http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
But that data is returned through the gamespy protocol.
