View Full Version : Any tips for a noob ?
I am a noob at the mission editor. Is there a good site or a manual to learn how you can learn to create your own missions ?

Try these sites,
OFPEC (http://www.ofpec.com/)
BIS Wiki (http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Main_Page)
I am not sure if the first one is being updated to ArmA but since ArmA editing isnt much diffrent from ofp its still usefull.

Your not a noob, your a newb, big difference between the two, newb being a person new to something, and a noob really only an ingame name for somebody on the same team that insists on hindering their team one way or another, though people abuse this term and use it outside such as in videos, titles being "me owning noobs",they don't really know what their talking about...
Regardless, welcome to the experience and good luck.

the best way ,i found is a mixture of ofpec and de-pbo user missions.
firstly go to the user mission thread select a mission download it.
if you havent got a de pbo tool then get one from arma thread search tools.
when de pbo place folder in mydocs/armaotherprofiles/missions
now when you open editor its there.
play the mission see some of the effects and what it does
read the sqs files in the folder ,see how they do it.
if you got to ofpec home page there is a comref buttone left side
here it will describe what all the big words in the sqs files mean.
mess about with them and learn and start a basic mission of your own .
i wouldnt reccomend the biki (unless you find a command thats not on ofpec) because its v confusing you can click on arma and then suddenly it says ofp script plus there is not enough why explanations only code and what.
anyway have fun and good luck.
i know this isnt the best form of how too, but time for me is limited. i am sure someone will pick at this and show even better ways.
