View Full Version : Annoying "auto" starts of missions in MP
At our dedicated servers, many times the game just starts automaticly without everyone clicking OK/Continue yet, and no admin starting it either..
From Assignment to Briefing, From Briefing into game etc...
Anyone knows which settings are responseble for this or any mission parameter etc. etc?
Kinda annoying while being busy with Briefings / Weapon Assignments etc http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

AutoStartMission=0;
??????????????????????????????
I am testing now ... happens on our server also.
Having problems with this as well. Any solutions yet?
Noticed that, too. Perhaps it's some kind of "majority decision" ... 50% pressed "OK" -> game starts. But i'm not sure. Most time i was reading the briefing or tried to change the gear, so didn't actually look at the players status.

It´s not a "majority decision" game will start even if no one has pressed "OK".
It's very bad for missions that can't support JIP...
As those who aren't ready will be broken when they eventually enter the game...
Players who have just connected (the island hasn´t been loaded) will almost certainly not have enough time to load the mission and the island before the game start from the briefing. And then if there´s some fancy stuff in the mission init all hell brokes loose.
There must be a way to remove this or set the "startmissiontime" or whatever so big that this doesnt affect anyone.
I would also like to know how to set the veteran difficulty so that is allways on in a server.
Anyone found a solution? I'm keen to know a way to stop this as well.

Quote[/b] ]§4)No Spam
We deem spam as making a thread or posting a reply that has no real worth, is irrelevant, useless and offers nothing to a discussion. Spam is not limited to text, posting an image as a means of spam or a spam'esque URL will also result in the same response from a moderator. With spam being hard to define, it is another example of something left to moderator's discretion, if in doubt ask yourself "does my reply add to the discussion in a way for the discussion to continue further"? If not then think of something "meatier" to add to the thread. Repeated spamming will result in any/all of the following:- Post count reduction, warning level increase, temporary restriction from posting.

But it was simply a bump to try and get a reply for this thread? Aren't you familiar with a bump?

Yeah, I have no idea how we're supposed to do league games right now if the mission auto starts.

Received word from Suma; There is no option for this at this moment in time, but as they are working on improving functionality in the dedicated server .. we may expect this to be better in the future version(s).

Auto starting missions are not a bad thing with the current clunky joining system e.g selecting characters, one player is AFK then your stuck untill they click " im ready" . Its not a good idea for multiplayer. Hopefully they can include a server option for a timelimit in the next version.
From Breifing to Mission Start should only active when all members click ready or if there is an admin when he clicks ready. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Well the thing is you can just kick a user that doesn't green up and they can join in at another time, but the way its setup at the moment the mission starts regardless of the player being in briefing or downloading the mission.
