I am surprised how good the HYK textures look in Arma, but IMO they aren't the most accurate woodland BDU textures.

If I were to make a suggestion it would be to re-texture the body armor and pouches with the HYK texture, for it looks inconsistent. I always thought the woodland interceptor in arma was way off in terms of colors anyway.

Wow,indeed they do look quite sleek,But yes I agree with ebns72 on this, the body armor just seems out of place. Also a a tad bit worried about the creases in the camoflauge showing when they aren't supposed to ingame. Nontheless, great job. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif

One thing I keep noticing is the body armour doesnt seem to have the bulk the real stuff has. It fits more like a sweater, too tight. Needs some gurth. Thats a model issue.

LOL! I spent 10mins thinking I was looking at a photograph!

Does ArmA run ok even with such high quality artwork and models or is it pants on average PC's? Those textures and artwork look very demanding but omg they're so nice to look at http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Really nice and crisp Zerg63. [Why credit HYK, are the textures his?] Edit: NVM

Also, has anyone heard from HYK and might he come back for ArmA? (would like to see his modern army variation of the ACU soldiers and possibly some OPFOR this time)

I believe HYK is actually attached to the Japanese Mod and is making troops for them. From what I herd that's where he spends most of his time.

Open it with Eliteness
but it doesn't do much for me. In one addon I simply use the same what I have declared as my cfg-patches class and in another addon I forgot to put it in. Doesn't have much of an effect it seems.
But maybe someone knows more about this?

Btw: Nice looking units

If I include it in my .pbo it causes my computer to lock up, but every pbo I'v opened has that file. I'v read somewhere that it isn't supposed to be included anyways, and I'v taken it out of the marpat addon without any trouble as a test.

I despise the ACU. BDU/DCU with the same pocket setup and your golden, but the ACU stands out waaay to much to be useful in any terrain that I've seen it in.

During the FTX in WLC, the poor souls in ACUs had to completely cover themselves with foliage to provide concealment, while myself and the other smart guys just used our woobys or something. Oh well, I guess to some the ACU is progress or something..

bugkill
Dec 10 2006, 00:44
personally, i feel that the acu is cool (as far as how it fits and not having to iron it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif ), but they should have either kept the camo that we already have (the woodland and 3 color desert) or use the crye camo.

Clavicula_nox4817
Dec 10 2006, 00:53
Yeah..no disagreement here...I really don't like shining boots or ironing...and the ACUs do feel real loose and everything. It's just..they're so freaking ugly..and they stand out in the desert like you wouldn't believe.

ACtually, that's how it is in real life. The ACUs in-game are superior to the ACUs we actually wear.

Not true. I'm fine with the ACU's in ArmA they look great and it's supposed to be a modern conflict so the US forces needs to be wearing ACU just like every single member of the US army does.

Save BDU for Cold War rearmed. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

I don't wear ACUs the majority of the time. When we deploy, we don't wear ACUs, and SF doesn't wear them on deployment either. The ACU is a sad sad uniform.

Yeah, pretty much. The colors stand out too much, maybe if they were darker in tone it might be better. ACUs stand out hard in deserts too, when your primary colors are yellowish and greenish a weird off-tan albino grey white mix isn't the answer.

Does the recently released units include both BDU (Woodland) and DCU (3 Colour Desert) uniforms? or just BDU?

Also to Zerg, have you considered implementing/upgrading these uniforms to RAID BDU standard, which are basically potentially heavily upgraded uniforms (they're made to order, so customer preference plays a large part.)
RAID BDU (http://www.specwargear.com/RAID.html)

Promotional picture of RAID "DCU". (http://www.specwargear.com/images/photo%20gallery-35.jpg)

From my understanding 3rd Brigade (Stryker Brigade), 2nd Infantry Division were (no longer, now its ACU) wearing these RAID BDU's in Iraq, but they were then called the "Close Combat Uniform" or "CCU".

They "were" back in assumedly what would've been '03 or '04 (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-12129.html) And FYI the SWG RAID system comes in the new ACU pattern now anyway (hell you can even get it in MARPAT).
So its possible that Special Operation units like Special Forces Operational Detachment - Alpha and possibly Delta might be using these modified RAID uniforms (albeit in ACU camo.)
After all, it was units like this that the RAID uniform was designed for.

Thus bringing me to the real point, would it be possible Zerg, to modify the uniforms to look like they have extra shoulder pockets and pockets around the ankle area on the trousers etc? Thus giving you a "rough" RAID BDU look.
Even if not effectively modeled on would they likely look decent when added to the textures for the uniform (assuming thats possible)?
Perhaps you could implement these for the SF classes (Saboteur/Marksman/Assault.)
Cheers.

Clavicula_nox4817
Dec 12 2006, 19:06
SOF doesn't adhere to strict uniform needs like regular army does. Also, the SFOD-A thing is just an ODA, that is, an operational team. ODA is the standard team for every group, it's not a particular designation like a CAG or something. There are different types of Alpha teams with different functions and there are other types of teams like the ODB.
