Looking good, colors look awesome, IMO though the brown shouldn't dominate so much, its about equal between green and brown.
It'd also be cool if you dirtied em up a bit, like these guys:

Specuilar seems to be the trickiest one really.
By the way,great MARPAT,ncrease of realism already. But now the NS are gonna need some better camo since this one would blend in much better with most of Sahrani

Nope I just edited the texture? i didn' t touch anything else yet. It' just use some 3d tricks I learned when i made skin for LockOn and IL2.
Now I'm tryin to change the OD green for coyote brown! Damn that's long!

Hep, as others have said, fading the camo would be helpful. MARPAT fades when exposed to the sun for significant periods of time, and since infantry are out in the field constantly, they end up faded.
The second thing is that Marines don't wear the US flag on their shoulders, so remove that. Also, the shoulder pockets do not have green velcro on the outside. Look at pictures from USMC.mil's photo gallery for what the actual pockets look like. Finally, the division or brigade (or whatever) insignia on the left shoulder should be removed as well.
Oh, and the boots should probably be a hint darker. They're a bit light at the moment.
If you want any reference photos of my uniforms, let me know, I can provide some as time allows. (former Marine myself, if you weren't aware)

Allso when you have made the config, save it as -config.cpp then open it in eliteness, then go to tools and hit "Rapify", save the new config as "config.bin" and then right click on the folder you want to be the new pbo and choose "CreatePbo" then your good to go

good job HePCaT I would make the entire uniform MARPAT in Woodland, or as someone else suggested a shade of light brown will work as well. Suchey's USMC pack he created for 1.96 was spot on with how it should look and is a good model to look at.
I would definently release it because I hope everyone else noticed....the West Officer (USA side) is wearing a USMC utility fatigue cap but it is in the new Army ACU camoflauge pattern!!!!
That really pissed me off when I saw it because those are totally different caps used for 2 different branches.

As you can see... 2 TOTALLY different looking hats.This was rather poor research done on the modern US military on the part of BIS I thought.
Another thing that realllyyy bothers me are those radio headsets they got on. Damn things look like something a vehicle crew member would have (like M1A1 Abrahms or M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle). But I suppose they can get away with this since it is designed "in the future".
But thank god...we got addon makers like you HePCaT that can help put it on the right track
I still don't see how you managed to keep the seam lines in it.

this is great, and makes much more sence then the ACU uniforms since the troops on Sahrani is clearly Marines and not army...
why Marines?
they have:
AH1Z (only marines use AH1)
AV8B (only marines use that too)
officer wears a marine cap but in ACU pattern
but there´s a few things that mareines DONT use that is on sahrani...
M1A2 (marines use M1A1HA)
STRYKER, afaik mariens dont have the stryker, they have the LAV-25, however, i might not be totally up to date on that info
the rest of the equipment can be either Marine or Army...
but in total, my impression is that it should be marines and not army.

oh, and the idea with multicam on the SF guys is brilliant....
if you dont decide to make them force recon guys (not sure i would call them SF, but they are defenitly Special operations capable)

The M1 ingame is an A1 model, so its plausable that it could be a Marine Corps tank. The external differences between the A1 and the A1HA are minimal anyho.

I don't think anyone's agreeing to that. Wrong uniforms, wrong weapons, mostly wrong vehicles. I don't have the game but I'm pretty sure the storyline was a small US Army ground force with USMC air support.
Wish it was a MEU though. I was hoping someone would pick up on this and make a modification since I don't have the skills.

The soldiers are mostly using usmc gear (lwh helmet, LITE Headset ...)
So the only thing you´ll have to do is replaceing the acu against marpat. Thats all.

Great Job there, I hope that by the 505 release we have a full "Jarhead" mod.
BIS had the know how for VBS Marines training tool, and they used it all over the place in ArmA, too bad they didt change the story line to fit the Marines.
I have more to do than remove the patches ( that's done), in fact i have to make the spec ops also in marpat http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif all soldiers shares different parts from eachother.

I haven't played the game either, but your assumptions about it being the Marines seem pretty accurate. The only real missing thing would seem to be the M-16A4. Every picture I see has them using M4's. Is the M-16A4 actually in the this game as well?

Dunno if you guys noticed this, but the patrol cap worn by the officer is actually a U.S. marine patrol cap and not an army patrol cap.

That would make sense considering that they are marines.
It's actually called an eight point cover, we don't have patrol caps. BTW it is missing the eagle globe and anchor.

Strange thing is that his signature only showed up in the second. I have an eight point cover in woodland camo somewhere in my room..rather akward to wear after wearing a "cap" for such a long time.

As I said, I don't have the game yet so I can only guess, same as anyone else with or without the game unless you're an employee at BI. Only they know their intentions.
Either way, it does seem to be a half-assed melting pot of Army/Marines which is more than a little strange considering one of their major commercial clients is the USMC. Or maybe that is the reasoning ... maybe they didn't want their branch fully portrayed in the game. Weird any way you cut it.

me and a good friend of mine are working on that M40 part.
We created a addon for the OFP community, the USMC M40A3 sniper rifle pack (was released on http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?newlang=eng)
since then we have made some fixes to the pack (1 rifle's LOD was messed up and when you right mouse clicked you got spun around)
Our new pack has the M40A1 and M40A3 in it. We will be retexturing it for AA and hope to get it up soon.
Will look good with the USMC units, especially the one's with boonie hats, I dont have the game yet, but it doesn't look like there are any ghillie suited snipers (which is a little disppointing) so looks like boonie hat guy will have to do.
I was in charge of making sure the mil dot reticle was proper and actually worked (you can range estimate with it). Need to make sure it will do fine in AA. But I need the game first! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif

The lighting today is pretty terrible, so these aren't the best shots, but they might be useful to you anyway.

Heres what my kevlar and eight point cover looks like......
1.46mb and a 2.6mb pic .... Placebo is going to love you! The limit for pic size is 100kb each. You might want to edit those...
Re the odd kit mix. i have to admit i was hoping for an explanation in the storyline but there just isnt one!

Problem is that you can never seem to get the "natural" look of MARPAT.
If anything I would mostly put forth a guess that the digital patterns are too small in their appearence,but this could just be me.
Watch your file sizes, HePCat. Your pic was 4x of what is allowed.

IBA too fake looking?
Personally I liked this (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/981/digitalui0.jpg) colour scheme for the IBA (and pouches). Looks more 'worn' that way. Perhaps change the camelbak texture into DCU (http://i6.ebayimg.com/03/i/07/e8/6d/73_2.JPG) or marpat. I could be wrong here, but perhaps it’s possible to include several (texture)versions of certain items (e.g. the camelback). Although I did hear HePCaT talking about all the textures being shared between the models.

For the multicam soldiers there is a problem, all soldiers, SF and regular, share some texture parts. I'm new in arma/opf and I don't know how can i change that!

Use optimized .jpg. If I'm not wrong (which, as I haven't followed the ArmA section that much, might be possible) the 100 kB rule is still in effect. The rule is per single picture and no "compensation" is allowed; otherwise you could post a 600 kB image since you're allowed to post 6 images per post. Slicing images into many parts under 100 kB, as Parvus usually does, can be used for big, high quality pics. Just take a look at the pics at OFP General's Combat Photography thread or the pics Wilco has posted. All under 100 kB but yet of good quality.
If you have PS, you should have a "save for web" option, which is really useful. Or if you really want to post big pics, link them. Or use thumbnails (which, in effect, is just a link that shows as a pic). As for the PS thing, here's the pic above in .jpg, quality rate at 55 or 60.

My personal pet peeve is bad blood textures.
I dont have the game yet but in the screens, the BIS blood looks like MS paint.
How's yours look? I'm just curious.

Nice job guys. Can't wait to get some P3D tools so we can actually differentiate my ACU-clad grunts from your leathernecks, it annoys me seeing my guys standing around with Marine helmets, headsets and caps on. I must say though, that MARPAT you've got going whoops.
I'm going to go ahead and use the same IBA texture as HePCaT so we can have one addon that looks like it should be together. I'll give my own added touches like dirt and whatnot but overall I think it will be a succesful retexture and make you guys happy.

Hi, those Marpat D & W BDU's look great; i hope that the units be released as a independent addon file and not as a textures pack for stomp the original ACU units on the game. Now we just need some M16's A4, M1A Socom I & II, some M1911 some SIG P226, some M21/M25 & M40A1/A3 & we're ready; plus make the "cat eyes" on the helmets straps to shine by night.
Something that looks a bit weird to me is that the sleeves textures seem as wrong oriented; as if the "stripes" inside the camo patter were heading from upside down instead heading from left to rigth. But i hope to be wrong on this. Good job on those Marines. Let's C ya

Hi, yes Eversman; i know that there's no ArmA editing tools by BIS out there yet and i guess that gonna take some time to get 'em because the palace things go slowly and some market rule. I also need the game but until the 1St Quarter of the 2007 it don't gonna reach my great country (spain, that's not so big but is really great). But... if they've opened the ArmA unit models and have edited the textures and ported 'em back into the game... don't this mean that we could edit the ArmA models and textures?. Let's C ya
We dont need any tools from BI to make them standalone, a simple hex edit will do, the same way we used to do for OFP.
The thing we cant do without the tools is to edit models (at least with the normal and specular maps and other ArmA specialities)

Its like OFP before O2,texture tools were out so the farthest you could go in creating units was retextures really,same thing here until the next O2 is out.

Hi, now is definitive... the texture base (of the the Marpat) and the Multycam, is wrong oriented in the jacket sleeves and the visible downside of the jacket booth in the Multycam and in the Marpat(W) at least in those latest screenshots of the WIP units. HePcAp can you correct that? and put the sleeves pouches in the direction that they're facing in the original Marines BDU's?, seems also that the yankees use a velcro square of 1/3" to hold the IFF markings on the pouches, but im not sure on this... and is true as Nephilim told me 1 day, that most of the Marines don't wear any kind of company sign or flag; but some do it, so... .
My main concern is that wrong direction of the jacket texture, i was planning to do also some Marines just in Marpat(W) because it'll match much better the Sahrani terrain that i've seen in the screenshots of the game as soon as the ArmA reach my hands.
But if was a f*** to have 3.000.000 of M4's out there... it'll also be a shame and an insult to the Marines to have other damn 3.000.000 of USMC units; correct that if it needs or could be corrected please, i could send you some photos of my Marpat(W) BDU if that helps. Let's C ya

IMO, it is way too light and desert-like to be multicam. Multicam has a much more brownish look to it than the sandy-white color shown in your picture. Keep up the good work tho http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
For the sleeves I can't do anything before I get the tools to edit normal map, sorry.
For the wrong camo patern direction is almost the same the model stretch the texture, but I will have a closer look at it!
Don't forget that it will not be the final version.
