Problem with the setup

I have problems installing the game.

The setup runs through like normal. Just at the end there is an error message that says there was a problem with the setup and that the program might not run properly. When I click ok, no files have been installed. After the fourth try the message popped up again but I noticed the ArmA logo on the desktop. So instead of clicking ok on the error message I clicked on the logo and ArmA started like normal. I played for over an hour now without any problems.
I alt-tabbed out and clicked ok on the error message. The desktop logo disappeared but all the files in the ArmA folder stayed. I got back into the game and everything seemed to be ok. I exit ArmA and several files get removed from my ArmA folder. Now it's not possible to start it. It says missing files, the loading screen appears and then it says "Wrong identification number in setup". I checked the ID code everytime I installed.

My Comp:
Pentium 4 3.00Ghz
Ati Radeon 9800XT
1.5Gb Ram

I defragmented my drives around a week ago and did search for viruses just yesterday.

Edit: Forgot to say, I have the german version

Edit2: I installed it again and got the error message again but instead of clicking ok I started ArmA again. ArmA freezed after 10 or so minutes and I had to reset the PC. After rebooting I have no error messages what so ever and ArmA runs fine. It's ok for now I guess. I guess my comp is just strange.

Hi,

I experienced the same with the german version. I solved it by installing ArmA in administrator mode (OS: Win2k). If not in administrator mode the installer might not have all rights and produces that error message. By the way, I also have an ATI Radeon 9800 (Pro).

I will try it if I have to install the game again.

It runs now, thanks to ArmA for getting freezed http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif and I was also able to apply the patch.
It runs pretty well on low for now until I get my new graphic card this weekend or next week.

Disable the shadows. You can pump up the other settings then.
Runs pretty good on my comp with flashed 9700 Pro thx to the patch.
Need a different rig though.

I have the same installation issue, and I am running Windows 2000.
Except I am already the system administrator (as well as sole user) of this PC. I still can't seem to find a way around the problem.

I got an e-mail the time when Is tarted the topic and he suggested upgrading the firmware of the dvd-drive. He had the problem too and that fixed it for him.
Another possibility is NOT clicking on the error message and rebooting you system.
