OpenSource (read free) RTS game engine (mainly for Total Annihilation mod)

gives full 3D (absolute camera freedom) ... DUAL MONITOR support ... based on OpenGL which allows existence of linux port ...
supports original TA unit format ... up to 32 players (with 16 unique commanders) ... multiple AIs supported ... improved interface, scripting and game features...

+ lot of TA mods were re-released to support Spring (Absolute Annihilation, eXtendedTA, OriginalTA, UberHack, FinalFrontier, WorldDomination, StarWarsTA ...)

to get TAS running original TA files aren't needed (even just for sure it's better You got laying TA original in cabinet ...

Notice we dropped the 'TA', because we like to move away from TA copyrighted material.
You still need to own TA for the listed downloads, but a completely free GPL version will be released later.

Awesome.

I downloaded something like v0.70 about 6 months ago and played for hours and hours.

No other RTS even comes close to TA, and its fantastic that there is now an update to this legendary game.

Will be testing 0.73b out tonight!

TA has killed many of my brain cells in the past and it looks like this will be killing a few more.

Old TA can do dual-monitors provided you have an Nvidia card and span it like you do for OFP, TA in 3200x1200 is kinda cool. Spring look's good, my brother's been watching it closely, but I'm waiting for Supreme Commander. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/notworthy.gif

new heavily improved version of Spring 0.76b1 was released

all new installer capable of downloading maps and mods as user select in options

all new lobby features, new settings dialog
engine and effects overhaul ...

{i want such lobby for ArmA so badly}

Wow, I should really visit the OFFTOPIC section more often. I'd never heard of Spring either but it looks right up my alley. Thanks for the update Dwarden.
