View Full Version : Addon Making Team
Hey guys.
Are you skilled with anything to do with addon making? Modeling, ideas, anything, But dont want to join a alreadymade addon team? Want to make a name for youself with a few other new people?
Im wanting to form a team of skilled people to make addons! Personaly, Im crap at modeling ect, but am good with new ideas and thinking up sudden great ideas and on the spot changes that slightly improove things.
If your interested at all, email me or add me on MSN: Hitman-55@<hidden>
Im also good at thinking up and writing short scenes and short stories.
Im just seeing if this will work, and hopfully if it does well be the next big addon makers. But if Im just being a noob here, just say so...
See you round, - Private A. G. Blazin, Delta Division, Omega Battalion (Also USM ArmA Reserve)
To me it looks like your just being a noob here.

Anyone have anything good to say?! lol.
Going to quote myself from a post I made on the OFP.info forums about someone in a very similar situation:
"A mod leader needs to be sufficient/good in at least 3 of 6 disciplines (and preferably all):
Modelling
Texturing
Island making
Config writing
Animating
Sound-editing
A modleader needs to be able to make an entire addon from scratch. To both attract members (by showing nice work in progress screens) and to understand members' problems.
Then there is also websitebuilding, but a website isn't essential to a mod, as forums can also help a great deal to promote your mod.
I have seen many of these idea's, some great and others not, but most of those that survived did so because they had modleaders that knew what they were doing. You can't expect to post a message requesting someone make you this, while you lean back. The initiative needs to come from you. A good modleader is always twice as active as his members.

[And this] (http://www.ofpec.com/OFPResources/tutorials/wrpedittutorial.zip) (manual here (http://www.ofpec.com/OFPResources/tutorials/wrpeditmanual.zip))
Learn the basics of both Oxygen and WRPEdit and your mod may have a chance. If you think like "but I just want other people to make the mod for me'', then you are in the wrong community my friend http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Good luck http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif"
Edit #1: forgot quotation signs
Edit #2: changing the OFP.info link, damn those newssites! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

...I just wanna get a group of people together to work evenly and help eachother...
Isn't that the basis for this entire community - Co-operation and overall helping of others.

You probably won't like this, but you'll need much more dedication for addon making. We all encounter those problems. You try and try and once you succeed. Aks when you've got a problem and people will surely help.

Well,i tried to lead a mod once.It was all nice and happy in the beginning, but you also got a job to do.I kinda managed to get a few people around me who liked my idea.I'd say that they were far more motivated than me.That's good btw.
In total we only made Estonian soldiers. The idea was to make all the Estonian army stuff.Btw the soldiers were never finished, although i wasn't working with them alone.Perhaps Serial Killer has completed them.I don't know.I found the latest version of them, what i saw,on my HD today.I consider myself lucky, because i haven't lost them.I really love those creatures.

I'm in ! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
I've already started a few things...could be helpful to work together.
Oxygen's not that good really for modeling, It works well if your making simple models such as buildings and objects. It takes a bit of time to learn how to use Oxygen, The best way I found was by doing Brssebs first tutorial over and over again until i remembered all the hotkeys, And making an island in Wrptool is fairly easy aslong as you have alot of patiance.

even for that, o2 isn't good. i make actually some buildings for Caen44, and i'm happy to use an other program for the uvmapping, and different tools, like bevel, extrude.
o2 isn't good, maybe just for the lod, but you need to learn the czech language before http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif
please BIS, i hope you will give us an other tool after the release of Arma. (maybe oxygen complete not the light version)

BIS have already stated that at some point (possibly before Armed Assault is even released) that they will release Oxygen3 and Visitor3 (as well as other tools?) to the community for use in making (and converting OFP addons) addons for Armed Assault.

The most successful addon makers are those who put forth effort themselves and create something new and more importantly innovative and professional. They are successful because A) they make success, and B) their results attracts the attention and support of others more or less capable than themselves.
Those who shield their vainglorious ambitions behind the shroud of indolent intellectual lethargy are a blighted curse on this community, and are more than welcome to return to the primordial C(austic)S(oup) they claim to crawled out of.
No one with half a brain ought to take orders here from someone who is not already functionaly competent in their area of technical expertise. That's a fundamental distinction between the roles of Leader and Manager. If you do not get the distinction between the two, you clearly fall into the later catagory.
You know how the people you're attempting to solicit got the skills that they did? There was a whole lot of this -> http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif going on for years on end. They earned their reputation.
Now this is not to say that the community is elitist by any stretch of the imagination. No, you have the equal and actually easier opportunity to learn from lessons learned. That's the difference between hoppers and bug bait, young grasshopper.

I like reading a ShinRaiden post, uses such long words and makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Might I add that I agree with most of what you said too http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Many have tried and many had failed, but that doesnt mean you WILL fail too. Give your best shot, no worries. All the best!
Ofp is what it is today because most of us had never gave up trying nor listen to seemingly 'for your own good' advices..(hehe), from zwarda's 'getin' chair of eons past to technically efficient war crafts of today that once upon a time we could only drool and dream of.
You represent the new blood of ofp to take us further than even ofp2 can. For those who believe ofp1 or Arma has already reach its limit, lol!..think again. There is still a whole world of innovation waiting to be created that is possible in ofp, believe me.
The only limit is your mind. 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration will see your dreams come true. Havent i proven time and time again the limits have not been reached yet?
