Im looking at buying Operation Flashpoint Elite for the Xbox, both for online play and system link, but I need to know if the system link is 1-16 players, with 1 xbox per player, or 1-16 players with more than 1 player per xbox. I dont want to buy it and discover that I need 16 xbox's to play with my friends, so please help if you know.

1 xbox (+tv) per player (so no split screen)
see: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....l=split (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=63;t=33378;hl=split)

For 20$/E or less pick it up anyway. Solo campaign, systemlink, XBL, AND usermade missions ... it is all very, very rewarding if you are into this kind of game.
It is serious gameplay over gfx, but strange as it may seem, even the gfx i became fond of ... the stars, the moonphases, the waves, the rainbows ... hahaha to know that OFP:E has real modeled sky (stars, sun, moon), waves and tides gives a kick ... At a night mission you go 'Jeez ... Orion' or something like that. ... Hmmm, i'm carried away ... again:)
My system link Maps located here.
read the guide before installation.

Firstly, a quick Hi to everyone, as this is my first post!
I wonder if anyone can tell me - Can you play all campaign missions in co-op via system link?
many thanks

No, unfortunately you can't do that - it would be great, but for some reason they decided to not include that. There are however specific co-op missions that can be played together.
Thanks for the reply there. Yeah, that's a real shame, as that would be excellent if it did.
How many of these specific co-op missions are there??
I'm wondering if there are enough to make it worth buying another tv !

Perhaps a dozen or so IIRC co-op missions, don't have the xbox here at the moment so can't check it. Better buy a VGA box so you can play it on the pc monitor, that makes sys link sessions a lot easier, because the monitor is already there and you don't have that additional TV standing around unused when not playing. Anyway the game is a must buy for the serious war sim enthusiast.
Buy it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

The great thing about this title STARR is that the co-op and adversarial missions are infinite. There is a mission creator that enables you to just about create any kind of mission you like on any part of any map using any vehicles and weapons you like. You dictate friendly and enemy A.I. waypoints and behaviors. It's pure genius and in my opinion the first "next gen" title I have seen.
Create your missions and take them online. Even the same mission plays different every time. There is a wealth of co-op missions because every player makes their own. With a bit of patience and creativity they can be alot of fun.
Thanks for the helpful comments guys.
I will be looking into the price of a vga box then I think. (hmm... I can see arguments coming - who gets the 32inch Widescreen and who gets the 14 inch monitor!!?? lol )
I already have the game, but just haven't taken it online or done anything other than single player missions so far (completed all but the last mission on Cold War Crisis, and started Resistance).
I might have to hook up with you guys online and you can show me the ropes. ok ?
cheers

When you already own the game you can look for yourself how many co-op missions there are. Connect your xbox to your pc with the link cable and you can play almost all the multiplayer missions with AI.

Indeed. There are always single player custom missions as well. Better templates too

Only thing that I don't understand (had the experience this weekend again) is that some MP missions have "Nobody" instead of the AI option - only playable for human players. Most missions can be switched from AI to Human player and vice versa, but a few are left out. What was the reason for that?

I have wondered that myself.
For the PC missions its an option in the description.ext disableai = true This means if there are no humans playing disable those spots. This allows you some additional flexibility when designing missions.
