Whats soo great about Border Patrol ? It all seem like a big arguement to me.
also how come 80% of the user made team and flag fight missions dont have winnable objectives
for example
>the score to win is 50,100, or unlimited (these matches never are completed most ppl quit, the match is ended early,or in a last ditch effort to win or get kills spawn camping !!!http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
> You need vehicles to get the flag(when out of vehicles u are sol)
Its seem like no one really cares about playing a complete match that team a can win. most kids only care about having fun a playing with the Dam tanks and helos

I have never heard of border patrol. Is it someone's custom map? I don't do alot of adversarial because of the reasons you have listed. I have designed a few small ones that play similiar to Ghost Recon or even Black Arrow. Short and sweet. I usually insist on the ones with borders or people just run around like idiots getting lost or trying to go around your spawn the long way. There are always the people that just run away so the match never ends. Or the people that just run to your spawn and camp you till tomorrow. My maps are designed to discourage spawn camping and wandering out of the fight area. A.I. makes for some good spawn camping deterrent. I also use walls alot to prevent snipers from looking into spawn points. The fact is though that the games are only as good as the people you are playing with and there is a shortage of good and honest players out there in any game. I will stick to co-op mostly because for the most part we are all on the same team with the same objective.

isnt there a cti for xbox ?
Please don't get me started on border patrol ever heard of missions called LIFE?http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif. More than half the missions made by individuals are garbage, seems to me most believe throw in a lot of aircrafts, tanks and poorly added waypoints (if you are lucky) will make good missions.

One thing about the xbox editor made missions is that all the missions are the same, everyone uses the same templates over and over. There are a few good missions out there but they become familiar quickly. I would encourage those who are able to, to port a mission over from the PC version. Or check out a couple of the missions I've ported over, you'll see these are simple missions but alot more dynamic then the templates BIS has provided. Your mission will last alot longer because there can be multiple objectives.

Yeah, there are not enough (understatement;) templates. A pity.

I would love to port over missions but my technical knowhow is strictly limited to motorcycle mechanics and diaper R+R. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif
My apologies if I offend anyone...
The whole concept of this game has been tossed out thanks to individuals who continue to host: Recruiting(all they do is talk nonsense and never apply thier concept), LIFE (as stated before nonsense), border patrol(one sided match) and Bigfoot. The hardcore groups of people who use to play this game (Mature) have left and found something else to play only leaving the imature to play with.
To sum up this message:
"Mom and Dad have left the building leaving the kids to tend to themselves."

Well, it is now a year since the release of Elite.
With NO DLC whatsoever (except for the excellent but small mod group, on modded xbox only) , NO backward compatibility on 360, on a system of which most hard-core gamers already migrated to 360 long ago (me included) and with the much better looking ArmA coming soon ... what else did you expect?
Now, BIS should learn from this (perhaps they already knew but weren't in the position to do cause of the BIS-codemasters breakup) and get the hell on with a ArmA/360 version with enough DLC support, etc.
There are enough mature gamers out there, but yes, they WILL play RS:Vegas and the butchered-beyond-belief GRAW and BF's etc, if they don't have the chance to get going with ArmA.
And, BIS/publisher really really really should aim for a 2007 release, the sooner the better.
Some massive titles are coming towards 360, and they sure aren't all that bad. There is even talk that the supposed PC ubershooter Crysis is possibly coming to console. Now then, you could say that EVERY important shooter eventually comes to console. ArmA better be quick, pretty and not dumbed down, with a full blown editor and some DLC support (in fact atm i couldn't care less about mods ... if the mission editor is ok there is already infinite replay value and mods can come thru DLC) ...
you've a winner you've only have to play the card.

Just had to respond to this as I mostly read topics. I am moving to the 360 mostly because of this border patrol and LIFE (Horrible game) with the fellow 223rd Company. Find a great group of serious players and stick with them, thats all you need. Private games all the way! The way I think of life and border patrol is these kids are wasting time of there life doing the same things over and over for month at a time; try out new game types and experiment around. Isnt Flashpoint a game to let your immagination sore!? Unfortunatly that dousn't apply to these people.
Regards, Mark.

Would someone please fill me on on this "border patrol" and "life" nonsense. I have no idea what you are all on about. I just play as realistically as possible.
Pop in your OFE go to optimatch and scroll down the list and you are bound to find: Border Patrol, LIFE, and and some type of recruiting (which amounts to nothing). It puts a blackeye on OFE! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif

That is exactly it, sadly.
Just thought I would point out that our tactical gaming clan, TSOG, is preparing to return to Flashpoint Elite after an extended hiatus of half our members to GRAW on 360. We're looking at some longer term linked missions, played realistically, and most likely will be open to those players still around that we trust. Like you NAX http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif Anyways, hope to see some of you guys back in game once we are in full gear. We've played a few warm up missions and do not yet have an ETA on when will be kicking things off. If you are curious you can read more about our clan here:
http://www.tacsimopsgroup.com/
The posts about upcoming Flashpoint missions will be in our yahoogroup messages though:

coop is def the best way to go if your with decent team players. does anyone know how to make mixed convoys ie; trucks with armoured vehicles etc? it only gives you combined platoon as an option!http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif?

Put say... a T80 infront of a truck and put them both on safe. They should combine together and make a convoy, have a few missions like that with alot of trucks and T80's and they combine perfectly.

Thanks for the vote of confidence HEEGZ. When are we gonna play again?
Vehicles on safe or aware will try and stick to roads. They will hesitate to pass each other so it can be used to create some rather interesting convoys. I have seen them pull out to make a pass and sometimes it goes horribly wrong. But for the most part it works fairly well. Make sure you put them on hold fire or never fire if you want them to stay on the road. If you put them on engage at will they will break from their waypoints to engage targets.
Another tactic that works well is to get a large group of soldiers near, say, 4 vehicles. Have the group approach and issue several get in nearest waypoints. They will usually be able to figure out how many people to evenly man the vehicles. For instance................
Create 6 soldiers. place 2 or 3 jeeps nearby. Give the group of 6, 3 get in nearest waypoints. They will usually pile in both jeeps and man all the guns. Then you can just give them one waypoint as a group along with your desired formation and basically have a convoy. Use the column for you typical convoy. Try it with 12 soldiers and you should be able to get 6 vehicles going in a perfect formation with a single waypoint.

Thats pretty cool. Will be using that method on my next maps with convoys. Thank you NAX. Would it work with choppers as well?

cheers boys sounds good , will try it tonight. this game kicks the arse out of any other known war sim on any console. i have also tried; combined platoon get in nearest on safe column into an empty t80 auto, that has to be unlocked via that cheat thingy. this gives you a 5 unit convoy cos the officer gets in to the empty t80 auto.if u know what i mean!!!!
just continue on safe, column and they will have thier heads poking out! bloody russians!

Another one i love is ; empty ural, with 12 russians get in nearest on it and then put it/them on GUARD, and the truck will assist. Are thier any other cheats for ofpe xbox besides the 4 profile ones like the unlock content etc?
Also how do u get enemy troops to lay satchel charges and blow them cos yhey just seem to lay them and they dont explode?

I have never tried it with helos before but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I will try it next time I sign on OFP. I'll let you know how it goes.

Ok. Gave it a bit of a go and it seems there are a few limitations doing it all as one large group. You will have to stick to low occupancy vehicles for one. They will tend to take every seat in the first vehicle if they can, meaning all 12 units piled in one chinook before getting into any other. I parked 4 of them and issued 4 get in nearest commands. 11 of them piled in the first one and one jumped out to pilot a second but none of them went for the 3rd or 4th helo. Same with 5 ton trucks. But it does work well with jeeps and maybe the auto tanks as they only require 1 character.
If you want a large convoy you should stick to assigning multiple units to certain vehicles and just keep them on safe or aware. The cool thing about those behaviors too is that when they spot an enemy or come under fire they will turn off their lights and button up, otherwise unbottoned with all their lights on.
Now I gotta experiment some more and see just how large of a convoy I can make. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/icon_rolleyes.gif

Hahahaha, how many hours i spent fiddling around with this stuff.
Anyway, try this.
- 12 soldiers
- 4 empty trucks
- GETINNEAREST - UNLOAD - GETINNEAREST - UNLOAD ... etc.
The GETINNEAREST will make all to board the first truck, the UNLOAD will make all but the driver to disembark, the next GETINNEAREST will make all who disembarked to board the 2nd truck ... etc.
This is NOT failsafe but it does seem to work sometimes
Also if you use LOAD in between the soldiers seem to remember which vehicle to board.
Yes, and the SAVE/AWARE/COMBAT - HOLDFIRE stuff is also influencing these things.
...
Anyway, be prepared to spent a lot of time on this (but i always thought it was big fun, this designing/playtesting)
(Make sure to check out the Tips and Tricks and the Mission Editor thread!!!)
