I got it a week ago, while my friends told me not as it is "garbage".
But it is the best game i have played, why isn't there much people who like it?

I think part of the problem is because it's quite unlike any other console game, unless you're familiar with the PC version it takes time and effort to immerse yourself and get the most out of the game http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

It is a sim. But because warfare is more complex than racing or soccer, this sim requires even more dedication to master it.
Furthermore gfx put ppl off. The gfx in OFPE are ok (sometimes even amazingly beautiful) but most ppl must have an excuse not to play this game. Gfx is an obvious, albeit imho a 'wrong' excuse.
In the end it is: Do you really want to play a true war sim in all its aspects? If yes then OFP:E is the ONLY contender. While not perfect it is way beyond what any other (war)game has to offer
So, don't mind your friends. Most of us are in the same situation. If have 25+ GR friends. For a long time i was the ONLY to play OFP:E. Now there are 3-4 others who have (partially) seen the light:). Anyway with 360/GRAW they also will go. I myself will certainly continue playing OFP:E and will check ArmA on PC ... and yes, i probably also will 360/GRAW:)

Yea its a shame how many people out there hold graphics over any other quality in a game. I my self use to be like it intill one day i gave OFP a try. And i havnt looked back since, OFP is one of the best games i have ever played. And now days i find my self let down time and time again by newer games full of 'eye candy' but extreamly lacking in original content, gameplay, length, and replaybility. Sadly most other people see pretty graphics and go 'OMFG THIS GAME ROXERZ' yet fail to see how much it actully sucks when all there doing is pointing, and clicking, then moving down endless corridoors to enemys that take slightly more bullets to kill. (hell thats what it felt like in quake 4).
And these same people find it hard to cope with an enviroment OFP presents them with, wide open spaces, freedom of choice and movment, no clear cut way to win, being forced to think, squad mates who arnt just there for secenary, and no rambo heroics. Ironicly these are the same people you see on countless forums complaining how 'unrealistic' a game is, or even worse on forums for game mods saying 'GOD DAMMIT THIS IDEA I JUS WROTE WILL MAKE THE MOD 10 TIMES MORE REALISTIC!!11' or 'Pleas3 d3vs maKE teH game UltRa realisticz'
ah well, atleast us on this forum have seen the light http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

The first time I put this game in my xbox i thought my xbox was going to explode. I never seen such an ugly game in my life I thought. Then something happened, I think it was mission 6 or 7 (the one were your by yourself and ya have to make to evac), this was by far the hardest mission up to that point and it took me about an hour to finish (that hour counts as completed time not all the times i died and had to restart http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif ). During that play time the weather changed, day turned to dusk, I killed one person (I think), and I was truly scared of dieing. That one mission sucked me up into this game and I'm glad it did because this game has so much to offer.
Because of this game I'm now a member of TSOG, and have met so many cool people in the xbox live community. The point is I think too many people wright this game off with out giving it a chance which is too bad because it's there loss.
*Side Note* I also just picked up the GOTY PC version of this game also.

I never even got the whole point of getting to love this game.
Everyone just have to love this game from the first minute the play it, and 9 out of 10 actually will only not all will find this their taste I think.
About 5/6 years ago i went to a friend of mine who just had a new game. We were playing about 20 different games a month till then. We played the first mission and both got sucked into the game. We didn't even knew that we could make our own missions untill later.
The game felt so immense and the mission where you have to get to evac was te most terrifying experience in my live. It actually cost me over 6 hours to finaly complete it on pc.
But i have to say that with the new voice actors in the begin I didn't felt the real OFP sensation right away, but it al came back about 3 or 4 missions later http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Did like the cut scene where you get a bit more background about the resistance story (never noticed that one before, or maybe it never was there) when you finished the saboteur mission (where you have to destroy a few tanks as black op)

Ah yes, After Montignac, or something like that. I remember playing that mission with the PC, it is the mission I remember most clearly. That was one of the few missions I was actually afraid of dieing in. I remember stealing the UAZ and being deathly afraid while doing so, driving to the evac, and just before getting there being shot by some damn T72. I was furious (I banged the computer table quite hard, earning me a scolding from my parents http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif ), but when I finally collected myself, I realized my hands were trembling from fear of dieing.
I have never looked back since.

Yeah, i am still stuck on that mission, i spent 3hrs http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif (without restarting) wandering in woods. This mission is what i like about the game, it is a do-it-yourself (free to play how you want) level and i saw the effects of the day.
P.S: Got any tips for that mission

The way I did it was to steal the UAZ and drive to the evac (In the PC version, there is a UAZ east of the woods). Be careful of the T72, though http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/icon_rolleyes.gif
I can't understand how so many people don't like this game. I have had so many experiences that I would never see anywhere else and seen things I will never see in any other game. The freedom alone makes OFP much better than anything else out there.

This game is probably one of THE best games ever released for the Box. I loved this game on PC and still love it. This game offers such a high degree of freedom in everything you do. While it is not the most accurate in flight physics or totally accurate with the vehicle weapons systems, it is the meshing of the air, ground, and sea combat that makes it shine. And being able to make your own missions is simply brilliant. It gives this game such replayablity (have no idea how to spell that correctly...lol). Online co-op with other players that like to play the game the way it was intended is awesome.
Any serious players out there that like to have fun while playing but still take the game seriously fire me off a friends request. I've played with Naxasta and some of the IDF peeps from this site and they are all great guys. Lets get out there and try to convert more people to our great game.
I am an admin on another game site that caters to older, mature gamers. Not sure if I am allowed to plug it here, so if I can't then any admin please correct me. The sites name is FragRaceandGame.com. We have our own OFP area and the peeps that play from that site are awesome. Filmacs, Richrotors,Cybertwin, Xyonics and several others are from that site too. Take a look at the site and if you fit the criteria for membership (ie. an old bastard like us...lol) sign up and I will make sure you have access to our private OFP area. We discuss missions we have made and set up game events.

Right on Flex. I am having a grand time with F.R.A.G.
This game is the best. There is not anything around that even resembles competition. I used to make fun of my friends for only playing one game all the time (Black Arrow) and now I am the biggest violator. I just don't want to play anything else. Every other game since Flashpoint is boring and shallow.

There's no better wargame on the xbox - period. I just hope that the developers will continue in supporting consoles with their games despite all the folks talking bad on this gem of a game. The 360 and even more the PS3 will have no problems with AA and Game 2 I suppose. Please don't let us console wargamers alone... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/xmas_o.gif

Most people only like what they have played before--or 'new' games that are just like the old ones they have played. So when they play something as different from their usual fare as OFP, they just can't handle it.
The gfx are also obviously a big turn-off for many people. I personally have never cared as much about gfx as gameplay though.
Also, there is really just a taste difference. Some people like games where it is all about fast reflexes. You see something, so you press this button. In FPS, this translates into killing something every second, flying around the screen like a crazed rabbit, etc etc.
Some people like games where you have to think more than react. OFP is more like this: it's not about how quickly you can dodge incoming missles and pump 300 rounds into the next enemy; it's about how cleverly you can position yourself to complete the mission. If you never fire a shot, you may have done the best of all.
I'm not saying you're "stupid" if you like the first style. It's just a different type of game, but both are considered the same genre (FPS).
---------
To be fair though, it would have been nice if the campaign had started out a little faster. In lots of reviews I've read, the reviewer gave up after the first few missions, without getting into any "real" missions. Something for BIS to consider for the future, I think.

I think that is not the right way, everything about the CWC campaign is perfect in my opinion.
You start as a rookie training on some island without any knowledge of anything outside the military camp. You get a few QUICK training rounds and then suddenly you're in the warzone, you are following orders and try to liberate a town, wich (as it should be for a first mission) is not that hard to do. But after that you have an other liberation mission (wich can make you feel like you are going to have to play this the entire game) but then you suddenly, after having a way to easy liberation, have the barrel of a russian tank in your face.
Well I don't know about you, but from that point I felt my heart beating in my troath. Then some simple easy missions and suddenly, big attack wich leads to defeat and you're the only survivor in a big forrest on a island you don't know.
The Campaign is good and after 2 missions you allready have the good sensation. But people have to be open for this kind of experience and some just are not.
But this makes most of the people who do die hard OFP fans and Elite gamers.
And after a while only the serious players will be on live and you don't have to bother about some anoying little (mostly US) kid that screams troughout the whole mission.
And please BIS try making the next version also available for more platforms other then PC, X360 and PS3 just give more costumers so why not?
Oh and there are keyboard and mouses available for xbox and x360. Only I don't know if they are compatible in OFP:E, probably not.

One of the first missions had me stuck in a forest for an hour terrified to leave because of a Hind D that really wanted me dead. I had this horrible feeling he would see me if I attempted to leave. He seriously loitered for an hour looking for me. I was totally immersed and thuroughly scared. Loved every minute of it and have been hooked ever since. That was about 4 years ago. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/help.gif

I personally can't understand why people say the graphics are bad! I think they beat anything out there right now.
I mean come on! when I played americas army and people were saying the graphics rocked! I borrowed a copy from a friend and started training.... It was raining...... and the rain looked like a meteor shower ......literally!!!!!http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif??? Was that
realistic.....I think not. This game like it or not will be a sleeper hit ,when everyone is playing BF 12 or GR 15 I'll still be playing good ol OFP:Elite.

I don`t think that the XBOX 360 will have a problem in handling ARMA or Game2. The only problem i see is the different cpu architecture of the PS3. Porting the future games to XBOX 360 will be easy. But for the PS3 there is no way to simply port ARMA or Game2. There must be complete different versions for PS3 i`m afraid.

Yep, that may well be the case but the question is: will BI bring another game to a console after all this talking bad about Elite by console players?
I am living in Germany and here it seems that the game is simply ignored because folks don't understand it as what it is - as a sim, or - even worse - they don't like real simulations.
I do really hope that a company that can wait 3 years or more to bring a game to a specific console so that it really works as a 1:1 copy and actually is even better than the game on pc will not listen to those bad talkers, but you never know...ya know...
