Obstacles: minor enemy fortifications located at grid-Eb67
Cover and Concealment: forest located due east of LZ should offer good initial concealment. ***After leaving this area darkness will be the only concealment.
Observation and Fields of Fire: forest and highpoint located east of LZ should offer good observation of the approach to hill 125. ***After secured hill 125 will offer good observation of the adjacent valley.
Key Terrain: Hill 125 located at grid- Eb67 southeast of the town of Sainte Marie will be critical for observation of armor located in Sainte Marie
Avenues of Approach: SF squad will insert via Blackhawk Helo to LZ located at grid-Dc61 east of Sainte Marie. ***The squad will then proceed on foot to secure Hill 125 located at grid- Eb67.
1. SITUATION
a. Enemy forces.
Hill 125 – ZSU-23 Shilka, Infantry squad.
Sainte Marie – Mechanized Infantry Platoon with MBT support.
Chapoi – Unknown force size but enemy does hold the town.
b. Friendly forces. There are no friendly forces currently in the AO.
c. Attachments and detachments. N/A
2. MISSION. Who, What (task), Where, When, and Why (purpose).
The town of Sainte Marie and Chapoi are both under the control of enemy forces. ***In addition mechanized AA located on hill 125 has prevented air operations in the area. ***The assault team will depart Malden airport at 0530hrs and insert via Blackhawk helo to a LZ located at grid-Dc61. ***The team’s objectives are as follows:
1. Secure hill 125 and destroy ZSU-23 to allow AH-1S Cobra to enter the AO
2. Identify enemy armor located in and around the town of Sainte Marie and direct gunship fire.
3. Sweep the town of Sainte Marie and eliminate any enemy presence.
4. Sweep and Hold the town of Chapoi until all enemy resistance has been neutralized.
Tech Note:
You can play this mission two ways:
1.) Use a human pilot(s) to fly the insertion and Gunship birds
2.) Edit the insertion and On-Guard AI objects and change them back to a Blackhawk for insertion and a Cobra for on-guard. Both are located at the Malden Airfield. I have them set to a single AI soldier so that the waypoints will not be removed.
