I have my computer playing mp3s when i play, and i often like to just create a mission with nothing but a chopper, a clear summer day with the highest visibility in 1985, and my computer playing iron maiden, van halen, eddie money, flock of seagulls, etc. etc. : ) i love this game.

Suma, enable custom soundtracks for the 360 version!! put radios in the vehicles!! : )

The sound of the chopper is enough 'music' for me:)

Playing music is not that common in military verhicles - at least not on their way to the front. That's something belonging to american movies.... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif

Actually, theres a video about showing an american vehicle shooting armed "soldiers" in Iraq during the night. It made a huge debate because they were hearing metal rock over the radio, killing people that had allready surrendered.

Also there was the Michael Moore documentary with US Abrams crews connecting players to vehicle radio and listening to "Burn Motherf****r".

I remeber seeing in a documantary a soldier who said that they are hearing Let the bodies hit the Floor from Drowning Pool, when they re driving around in Bradley

Listening to e.g. Hard rock/Heavy metal while killing is understandable. It is much more difficult to e.g. relate Bach's Inventions to killing.

Listening to Bach while hunting down the enemy would have a 'Hannibal Lecter' weirdness surrounding it.

But then Vagner seems to go very well with airborn assaults on small fishing villages in Vietnam http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif

and Wagner is even more commonly associated with the scene you mention http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Yep, but Wagner is your Classical Heavy Metal:)

Everybody knows 'Air' of Bach (perhaps not the title but for sure the melody, it is used often in modern music). Say, a M1 Abrams gunner is listening to this during the action. That's weird:)

Actually, listening to music in the vehicle is common if someone on te team brought along the equipment to do so. Additionally (I was in electronic warfare from 1988-2001) we used to jam "enemy" frequencies using Metallica, Iron Maiden, Storm Troopers of Death, Method of Destruction etc. Whatever we had available and might be considered annoying to the "enemy". Of course if it were an exercise and we were jamming friendlies in the course of the exercise, they often enjoyed it...Go figure. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

It's like a finely tuned V8 or the new Harley V-rod. Those machines are all the music you need. The sound of the turbine on the Mi-17 is just plain awesome.

Interesting, when I was in the Bundeswehr we tried to have a radio with us while driving in a truck to the "front" ( it was a maneuver day) but we were told in a VERY loud voice that this is strictly forbidden, because it distracts you from the things going on around you and from obeying the orders correctly. American movies and american soldiers are different... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Your average grunt is allowed some amenities. Our more elite squads would never try such a thing for precisely that reason. They cannot afford to be distracted.

And because this is about OFP:Elite there's no radio in the game - there you have it! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/xmas_o.gif

Hi Narcotic,

I am sorry, but I don't play on Live, don't have broadband where I live and to tell the truth there were no games that made me wish to have Live anyway. OFP:E of course is the only exception, but as I said I don't have access to the necessary broadband connection here in my little german town http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

game on!

I go with NAX. Starting up a heli never fails to give me the shivers.

The whizzing of bizon bullets pumps up your adrenaline level.

And the sound of Shilka's firing indicates mortal danger.

...

Believe it or not ... i am a relaxed type of gamer:):)

For me it's all about the A-10. The girlfriend hates the relentless turbine sound but I am in gaming heaven flying that thing. The sound of the 30mm and watching them impact the baddies is truly a sight. Watching the Shilka fire strafe my wings is just good old-fashioned plain awesome! Finding the eject button and trying to find some altitude raises my heart rate every time. Parachuting down next to the Shilka that just took you out of the sky......priceless.

I am a devout music lover but it only distracts me from the experience. I think Marcos has watched too many Iron Eagle movies. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
