View Full Version : Small but nice victory for OFP:E

I have said before that i was the only OFPE player in a clan of 20+ GR players, mainly because of them migrating to 360 hardware (but with no games:)
Some of those tried OFPE. You know, the quick look with after 1 hour the conclusion 'bad looking, bad playing game'
Only 1 good friend kept on playing OFPE even while he bought a 360.
Anyway, most 360 players are fed up with the wait for GRAW. And my constant praise for OFPE bugged them. One who thought nothing of OFPE finally said 'Hell, you should be a sales man. Your stories of OFPE intrigue me'
'Well join me in a co-op' (own mission where the battle rages on in M1's, Mech squads, M113's, Shilka, Cobra .. the lot:)
He finally did tonight. Guess what ... he had to admit it was fun. Better than he thought it would be, more tactical, a true co-op game. Of course we muzed about the gfx, but it didn't seem to bother him much:):)
He said that OFPE shown and explained by ppl who already knew the game was a big plus.
Of course i let him be the gunner in a cobra flown by me. Never fails:):) Let him take out T72's, ground troops and let him 'eject' ... 'Wow a parachute' and than pick him up again. But i also explained rule nbr 1 'When you hear shooting press Y and go prone'
Anyway, i showed him the works and he was converted.
He won't stay on OFPE like me. As soon as GRAW arrives he will play that, but i'm sure that IF ArmA:360 would be a existing game he would be stuck on that.
Anyway, i thought it was nice to tell you this story of converting a hard-core non-believer.
Cheers.

hooray..... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
i like the way BIS presented OFP:E it was more aimed towards the loyal fans http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif and getting the game more out there to everyone. i am gunna definitly pick this game up. even though ive been playing ofp on pc for 2 years, i think this will be well worth the purchase as i am a anything ofp related junkie. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif
can someone tell me if theres splitscreen or not? if there is that would be kinda cool. if not Xbox live ftw!
No split screen sorry http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Good job Max. I have converted 3 so far and have 2 online for future purchases.

this is the way OFP convinces people. not simple screenshots, you have to see it in motion to believe it.
Pointing people the way to the OFP Videography thread might help too.
We all get used to the "no frills" graphics, it's the AI intelligence that draws us in.

I have the same problem with my team. We have about 4 or 5 who have commited but some of them are still on the fence.
I must say the replay potential and attention to detail (not graphical) was what hooked me.

My favorite part is that they keep killing me. This game is hard. Ghost Recons were just too easy after awhile.

Some AV material to 'convert' non-believers hahaha. Anyway, it's nice to capture your own work and make a small movie.

Finished:)
OFP:E Lighthouse Trailer (45MB)
It's cool (but i'm subjective). It is from a video cap i have made of a self made MP co-op mission. This time i was play/testing so the rest of my team is AI, commanded by me. Mission took 37 mins. After 10 mins i was already on my own and wounded, but scored still some sniper and law kills.
But still, the hero dies in the end.
Mission Note: Destroying the Shilka is/was essential for the mission because backup 2 Cobra's arrive soon. Shilka was destroyed in time but a Hind eventually shot down both Cobra's.
Have fun.
Hosted on my own server so don't complain about upload speed;)

Nice video maxqubit. If you havnt already, check the OFP Videography thread (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=33;t=40722). Although you cant script scenes, you could still make a good storyline video, maybe have AI do most of the work and then film the action as a Civilian??
What did you use to capture it, a link with your PC or just a Camera filming the TV?
P.S. You wasted that LAW at 4mins 40secs, you're supposed to blow a fuel station up (and any other highly explosive object) and every possible opportunity! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif If i'm not mistaken, that Depot the URAL was in also has a Repair Depot right next to the Fuel Station, thus giving twice the satisfaction for the price of one LAW.

I just sent this game to a friend and he played for the first time last night. I put him in the gunner seat of a PBR and thought nothing of it until we came under fire in the middle of the ocean from a Kamov. I was screaming all kinds of fire orders at him and swerving the boat left and right to avoid the incoming rockets. It worked for some time until I saw a big rocket that turned heading for us. It was all fun but a hell of a baptism for the new guy. He loved it.

Hotshot.
It is even worse:) Analyzing the video made me realize my 3rd kill is a TK. Some AI guys advanced more quick than i had expected.
Yep, and i wasted some LAW's and bullets ... which is just the big fun part of OFPE. Being on limited ammo, having only a very few possibilities to make the kill, stress and wasting a golden opportunity (making you go 'OMG, now they are on to me'http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif.
OFPE ... tense, every single run:):)
PS: Vid cap with Xbox connected thru s-video cable with capture card on my pc
