To Mods: I hope this isn't out of line, if it is, just delete this and let me know in a PM please.

Alright, So I bought my copy of OFP:E as I've been anxious to see a xbox version of OFP ever since it has been announced. As some of you may be aware of modded xbox's, you can copy games to the harddrive, and then access the drive on your computer through FTP. I was curious to see if the structure of the game was still similar to the PC version, so I checked. After seeing that it is, I wondered if the OFP:E stuff would work on the PC... After about a hour of playing, my conclusion is...nope.

Maybe they would if i did some editing to the files, but I wouldn't know where to begin. I do seem to be able to replace the islands...but they look an odd color and aren't textured in some areas. I UnPBOed the data and data3d pbo's to take a look at the new soldier models (as i think it would be cool if BI released a new patch with these upgraded models&#33http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif but Oxygen wouldn't load them (no suprise, as i doubt they would have been MLOD) and ODOLex wouldn't open them either. So it seems the .p3d files have changed slightly. Texview opens the .paa and .pac's just fine, and from looking at a few config's they seem to be similar. I would assume that the reason the .p3d's couldn't be opened would be the new graphical enhancments for the game.

So I guess the whole point of this is....

BI, are there any plans to release a new OFP patch with these soldier models, so that the loyal PC community can enjoy these too? Or could tools/info be allowed into the community for a talented person to port these soldiers?

P.S. I love the improvments in this over the original game. They both have pro's and con's, but this game makes me believe that ArmA will be the answer we have all been waiting for.

They wont waste time with a patch for PC. But just wait for Arma and it will be fine

Yeah I figured a patch would be unlikely, but it wouldn't be hard to do. Obviously they have the tools required to open and edit these files, it would most likely take less than a hour to convert the soldiers for use in OFP:R. I'm not positive about writing the executable to create the patch, but it probably wouldn't take long either.

Thats kinda why i threw in the "could tools/info be allowed into the community for a talented person to port these soldiers?"
