View Full Version : BIS, heard anything from MS about 360?
Has anyone from BIS heard anything from Microsoft regarding 360 compatibility. I really think Flashpoint could definitely benefit from being run on the 360 system. I'm not even sure if it's BIS's responsibility or Microsoft's. Any comments?
I was looking on xbox.com game list and I couldn't even find Flashpoint: Elite on there. Is it possible that the people that are creating the emulators don't know about Flashpoint?
Thanks.

Its microsofts responsibility... But I assume that BIS should be negotiating with microsoft about the matter
//EDIT,
Microsoft surely knows about OFP, because, as a betatester, Microsoft invited me to play OFP back in the 1.46 days using directx9 beta.
Dont know if they got mad at bis for changing to sockets, though... ,lol http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
It's completely down to MS, nothing we can do unfortunately.
Only advise I can suggest is to contact (backcomp@microsoft.com) MS and plead for 360 compatibility http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

I have a feeling that Flashpoint isnt really a concern for MS, since there isnt even a section for the game in their official games forums...
But Pro Fishing Challenge gets a section???
I have mailed them to address this.

Onderwerp: Operation Flashpoint:Elite
Dear devs,
Operation Flashpoint:Elite is a kind of miracle on Xbox. This incarnation of the magnificient PC game Operation Flashpoint on console is a treasure. The only true war sim on console. Something to be proud of. Not only BIS and the gamers but also the Xbox platform, to have this title in the catalog.
I am sure that i speak for all OFP:E gamers when asking:
*** ***Please, could you make this title backward compatible?
A lot of gamers are put off by the spartan gfx without realizing that ai, freedom, immersion makes it up 10x. You as devs must know that the Xbox is not only the gfx processor but the 'thing' in total. CPU, GPU, Soundchip, HDD, Controller, TV, Xbox-OS, XBL, the OFP:E gamesoftware, a sofa and a happy gamer (did i forget something?:) ... This total ensemble of hw, vision/sound and gameplay makes for a truly immersive war sim experience.
If Armed Assault is released in 2006 on PC and making an impression on the gamers community then many will realize a kind of ArmA-Lite is/was already available as OFP:E on Xbox (perhaps not all of the gfx but certainly the gameplay).
It would be good to see OFP:E available as backward compatible Xbox game on 360.
(and it wouldn't be a stupid idea for Microsoft/XBOX360 to keep an eye on ArmA. I'm hearing BIS is looking for a publisher. Now, what impact would an ArmA:360 have on the hard-core tactical fans? ... Massive i think. Perhaps not the GR:AW impact but it would certainly standout from what any other console platform has to offer on the tactical/sim segment)
Best regards,

The publisher/developer must request a forum at the xbox site. AFAIK MS will create a forum if requested. Since in this case both the publisher and developer have OFP forums I don't think they would want another. Whats most troubling is MS hasn't even acknowledge that OFP is an Xbox game. Its not listed in thier game catalog, nor do they have one of those brief Title sites like they have for every other game.
Of course I would like to see OFP 360 compatible since it would bring in even more players. I'll send a letter as well

I have a question...
Let's say MS goes through with making the OFP:E emulator, would I be able to play online with the Xbox 360 Live service? Or would that only work on regular Xbox?

I'd think you should be able to, just like you can play Halo 2 on a 360 over Live. I'd much rather see OFP:E 2 or AMA instead of an emulator for OFP:E. Mmmmmmmmm massive draw distance and 60+fps please thank you. Plus I keep hearing about funky stuff about the emulation, how it doesn't work right, is hard to do and games don't run as good on emulation as they do on the original box.
I don't doubt the 360 handles XBox games oddly... I think backwards compatability was the last thing on their minds.
Ok.. so I just got XBox 360 today... yea it's as awsome as they say it is.
I tested to see if regular XBox games work on the Live service with XBox 360 - and behold, it does!
So if anybody was interested in OFP:E on XBox Live, does not matter what console you want to play on. Only thing you gotta worry about is MS making that bloody emulator. Which I'm sure they will do eventually.
