Yes, the part with the oak trees looks like game2, it reminds me of the E3 woodland footage. And the chopper in the video was also seen on some game2 pics from E3.

And the plane part, damn that's just insane. ~5km viewdistance http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif

I didn't understand a word, but i'm pretty sure i've seen a t72 (or a t80?) at the beginning of the footage with a mounted HMG on the top of the turret. Multigunner position?

Scenes where player is shooting enemies in first person were definately from ArmA.

Rest of the scenes where we could see Huey helicopter, T-90 and that funky fighter plane were probably from Game2.

well that was something
the ArmA stuff starts at 15:00 and ends at 19:00... 4 min long.
there was no mention of Game2 at all, so im guessing that was all ArmA, as the Game2 engine looks diferent, and all the screen shots we have seen on game 2 have been in the desert. i only got one complaint.. the footage is a bit dark and hard to see, i have been trying to save the stream so i can edit it, but i have yet to find the link so i can save it.
oh and another point the suports this all being ArmA footage- Game2 still has 2 years of development to go, if not more. so there is no way that footage of the chopper and the F35 can be from Game2.. if it was, then BIS has been lieing about the progress of Game2, and that its alot farther in its development then even Armed Assault.. just my 2 and 1\5th cents.

That's not true. Some Game2 screens are from grassy green island http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif And most of the footage is from Game2 (Huey, T-90, F-35), so there's mention about this game too.

I like the rest of it; the forests and undergrowth seem particularly nice.

Not sure about the soldier at 9:37 that appears to be using techniques form a 1950s exercise film as part of his PT program though.

Well, poor Ondrey, there wasn`t enough time to do something with his hair before going `on the air` probably...
or he just finished his shower and had his car window opened while driving to the studio to dry his hair somehow...You can actually tell the wind direction by looking at him...

I have to show that pic on ofp.info to my mum and tell her my hairstyle isn`t THAT bad as she thinks...

Anyway, someone has a ofp/Ondrey-only version of the video?

oh, btw...did I mention you have gangsta hair Ondrey? Kinda sexy http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

the V22 raptor has those kind of "double" 2-D vectoring nozzles.

US plane, main role is semi-stealth anti-fighter plane, I believe.

So, we still just have to wait until E3. The only armed assault footage there was still from that same old tech demo.

However, the Game2 footage was promising. Ok, that's an understatement.

It is actually an F-35 Joint strike fighter, a plane that is due out in service ~ 2012. Later in the video, you can identify its characteristic single-engine configuration. Also, I recall seeing renders of the F35 in previous game2 previews.

That's only an interim upgrade 'til we take delivery of Joint Combat Aircraft (F-35B JSF). However, it's been reported that we're having a bit of strife with the Americans over access to the secrets surrounding the technology of the aircraft that might result in us not buying the aircraft if we can't service them ourselves.

This is getting off-topic though since the F-35 bit in the video was from Game 2, not Armed Assault.

Nice to see some more ingame footage of ArmA but Ondrej's hair was the best part of the show. Is it possible for anyone to create an english transcript of it? Looked quite interesting.

Then started shots from Game2 (1st scene is from the forrest with DETAILED sign) except last (gunfight in a street is from ArmA).

Not saying there isn't a Game2, it just seems like the Game2 screenshots from a while ago are starting to look more and more like ArmA.. Probobaly because there hasn't been many new Game2 screenshots, orr *Conspiricy music* the "Game 2 screenshots" were acctualy just up to date ArmA screenshots?

Anyway, thats my rumour starting done.. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

Yea I kinda agree. I think the current ArmA is what Game 2 was suposed to be, while Game 2 turned into "Game 3".
I disagree. The central elements of Game 2 were the Role-playing and new engine. Arma has neither.

Just because the soldiers in Arma are dressed in desert camo this doesn't mean that Game 2 never existed or that Game 2 has become Game 3.

Armed Assault is a vastly improved OFP but it's not ground breaking. A true OFP sequel has to be as innovative as the original and this is why Game 2 with it's RPG elements is the only true heir to the throne.

ArmA was supposed to be an engine upgrade of OFPR, and it wasn't much. However, BIS tend to add more and more things from their technical arsenal into whatever they have.

ArmA definitely got more stuff in it then what was initially planned for, but Game 2 still has other stuff that distinguishes itself from ArmA.

I would like to see a "Script Library". This would be a folder that you could place all the script's you collect. You could give them a short name such as "ParaSup" for parachute tesupply. Then in the mission editor have a drop down box for scripts and select the one you want. This way it would add the information to the mission and save you from having to place copies of scripts in each mission, the editor would do this for you. Something like this would save time for mission builders.

For me OFP screen shots look fine but when you blow them up in another window they kind of loose there texture a little bit because of how big the picture gets.

I personally think that the games are going to take quite some time to release they say in 2006, but maybe both games will be released in 2007. We really don't know, just how ever long they test the bugs and gameplay but hey no complaints, I can use my time wisely with OFPR and other versions.

Hopefully soon as possible though. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

I guees the "current" build with the new units is unplayable so they used another one.

well, it looks like armored vehicles still kick up dust-storms when driving on asphalt surface... and soldier animations and movement dynamics seems unchanged. this doesn't sound like a whole new game, merely the good old flashpoint we all love with a facelift in the graphics department.

With that said, It is generally known that animations will be added in the final stage of development.

Also, there have been PLENTY of improvements visible for generic OFP extremists, weapon limitations for vehicles classes are gone, multiple gunners are possible, sounds dont pass trough solid surfaces, cloud system is completely reworked, unscripted ambient life is present, the entire engine is made with today's hardware in mind, it can run with half the recources another game would use, etc etc.

Trust me, there are ALLOT of "under the hood" developments, unless you've read all reviews you cannot comprehend what types of improvements have been made.

Advocatexxx - there are a bunch of things you should know about arma before you complain about how certain stuff hasn't been improved on, what you probably saw was an ancient old tech demo, this thread is all cluttered so i understand why you won't read it all but there are tons of things in it about arma, its just that the OP doesn't update the first post with footage we already have of the game.

The sudden hostility towards you probably is 'cause what you said back then about arma being the sameold ofp with just the graphics improved has been already discussed somewhere between pages 50 to 80.

Best thing you can do is search for "armed assault" on ofp.info and check out what's what.

How do you know that sounds will not pass solid ground?
When and where and how did you see that?

I wonder if BIS has taken care of the sounds in the game in a better manner than in OFP. This was one of the weakest point in OFP and only after the famous Dynamic Range sound update (I think by Satchel) the game has got the ambiente that it needed!

That it does..I remember on the mission to sneak out of the russian camp at night (resistance I believe) and when I had that darn hind chasing me I could notice from my home theatre that sounds would change when I would look in certain directions, all imersive and what not,so I decided to test the theory and trot around, avoiding the ruskies that outnumbered me by the hundreds or so,I have to admit its things like that that make the game so great, also seeing the trees blow in the wind from the chinook was great too,not to mention the flares causing the area to light up in the color of the flare or the lights on the towers doin similar. It was all good ^^. Though the AI still had their moments,on the mission where Armstrong gets onto..eh..I cant remember I think its...Malden? The chapter with all the armored strikes and what not. Anyway, the first mission of guard duty, I remember them saying they were sending in a special forces team...so here comes this UH-60 and I'm watching it,and I see this one specops guy jump out,go flying and slam into the hill and die...sadly funny http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif But the game has immensly improved and I'm sure sound for AA is something a few people are forgetting about. Such as hearing insects in bushes, ambience, and so on and so forth, blah blah.

I'm betting the waves will also be dependant on weather http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif,if its like OFP:E anyway,to give an example...set the editor to have sunny or clear weather, the sunniest, the water will for the most part be calm and still, set it to middle and the water will have some movement, however set the weather to stormy and the water will have waves splashing back and forth, the most active water level. Another thing I think is wind..I messed with the weather a bit and the scripted blowupable gas station that would cause smoke to be released when destroyed...anyway I noticed that upon different weather setting the smoke would rise higher AND would change direction, the height I am certain of but the direction,I could be wrong, best tto get somebody to test it as well.

I hope they give those CTIs a more realistic flavour then the arcade RTS immitations, like establishing/capturing beachheads, airfields, landing zones instead of building factories, etc. With lots of amphibious and air units, indirect fire, with only a few tanks, as it would be in real life when you try to capture an island. (capture, not "glass" - that would be the most realistic).

Thats actually old news. We've known for some time now that ArmA will support HDR. Being temporarely blinded by light is what HDR is first and foremost about. Check out Far Cry and Chaos Theory if you have a SM3.0 or 2.0b capable card.
But still, its nice that ArmA will have it.
Hopefully they will push that focus effect a little further and maybe we will see the same light and focus effects you get in Tomb Raider Legend. Very atmospheric, especially when you look through the binocs and it focuses on objects in the center of the screen.

Of course, but IMO, in ArmA it could mean the difference between (virtual) life and death, you could build your whole tactics around the position of the Sun. If you approach the target with the Sun behind your back, the enemy would have a great disadvantage. I like it! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Greetings,
I am really happy about this, this turns out very nice. The new pics look great, the only 2 things I didn't like was:
1) The Textures on the trees are WIP I guess(the grey one looks very odd for example)
2) The Grass:
While it looks nice in most pics now,I guess you will have to find a way for it to always match the actual ground-texture.
Grass on Bright (http://firingsquad.com/media/hirez.asp?file=/features/armed_assault_interview/images/09.jpg)
On the midday-summer-noovercast light setting the ground is lit up
really brightly, while at the same time the grass on it actually remains "dark" which makes it look odd (to me and some other people at least).I figure since the ground texture is supposed to be "grass" as well, you might want to match it with the actual grass objects on it(color and lighting wise) http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Great to hear "Multiple Gunners" made it in.Thanks for that.I am wondering tho if limitations for individual classes have gone as well(i.e turrets on Planes and the likes).

Hopefully you get the AI as good as possible in the remaining time, because thats something that could make this game perfect or frustrating if you have that lovely engine, but a very dumb AI.Good Luck http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

I take offense to that, don't make me have to get placebo in here. As I said, that's pretty offensive, and downright rude. What's wrong with me spending a lot of time looking at the ground? Maybe I just have a greater attention to detail than you do.

Indeed....

FiringSquad:When the time came to start work on Armed Assault, what were the development team's main goals?

Paul R. Statham:One of the main goals was to retain the fundamental gameplay of Flashpoint, the impact the game had for those who played it due to its many levels of immersion and scope. The next goal after core gameplay is really about how we can look at creating an interface and command system which allows the player to concentrate on fighting with the enemy, not fighting with the UI or menus, we have to look at ways that we retain a deep level of command and involvement with the game world but doing so in a way which was as streamlined as possible. Further areas we wanted to look at improving were the layers of realism the game offered. Of course it's a game, not a military simulator, but because we're developing a game doesn't mean we have to develop it for chimps, so we worked hard to increase the level of realism by adding and tweaking features such as: accurately simulated recoil, ricocheting bullets, ambient wildlife, HDR lighting, bullet kinetic energy, multiple gunners etc. et

O.O awesome

Hekezu
Apr 29 2006, 07:06
Oh yes, the screenshots look fantastic! But graphics isn't all what I'm looking for, and I'm not alone. The new interview finally confirmed some things the community has wanted for at least 3 years, like multiple gunner positions, new animations (perhaps even new animation system?) and bullet's kinetic energy.

Can't wait for more screens and videos. Now we have to hope that BIS can finish the game and get a publisher they deserve.

How long before the release of OFP BIS and CodeM released OFP demo and Resistance demo? I would like to get exact dates because I can't remember them. I hope the same will happen with ArmA but I'm worried about the publisher issue, will they allow BIS to release a demo before the game is finished?

I mean the demo was the only thing why I bought OFP, and it was released before OFP was released so it got PR machine moving and a real fan base created, both strongly before the release. I still remember custom demo missions! Oh the joy...

Maybe we will hear some news at E3 about the publisher/release issue.

Fair enough Kyle, the situation you showed is a extreme situation tho which I would not call the norm. The same situation applies if you have single "grass-bushes" grow on an otherwise rocky undergroud. Then it is perfectly fine. But it seems to me that generally the green ground-texture is supposed to represent grassy underground and the 3d-objects are just there to enhace it.And in that case(which should apply to most of grassy areas) I strongly feel grass-object and grass-texture should match.

While we talk about the fancy 3D-objects,I hope you can define how much grass or rocks(seperatly) you want on a given underground(just like you can define "roughness" now).

Or the windows in OFP:E at the wright agnel X.x I was in one of the misions which I forget the name ironicly...anyway it was one with the...oh yeah,Clean Sweep, they really changed em both. anyway...in the first mission if you approach one of the houses right the sun will be reflecting to a point that the window looks pure white X.X. so I highly doubt lighting is an issue,hmm..looks like they have graphics and sounds covered,gameplay...well thats a given http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif. I wonder how far the physics go..I remember in OFP:E the mission where Hammer in his M60 knocks down something..on PC it was a tent,in OFP:E its a stack of barrels that are knocked over...I was thinking this was a cutscene special..but later in one of the resistance levels I remember stealing a BMP and I apparently hit a fuel barrel..it started rolling around without anyone doing anything, and even more,it was on fire while rolling. So I think we have a LOT to look forward to,but to each their own.

the only graphical issue i see from the screenshots is that the buildings can't keep up with the vehicles and soldiers, in terms of lighting, textures, and also models. To me, they look a bit like cardboard replica of real buildings and stick out a bit. Hopefully they'll fix that.

http://www.armedassault.com/william/photos/base/04.jpg
http://www.armedassault.com/william/photos/base/05.jpg

it just appears they don't have the same awesome normal maps, reflections and HDR lighting to them as the "moving objects" have. Same would go for some of the trees.

But other than that, it's all great news. More than great actually.

orange juice
Apr 29 2006, 12:19
it should be possible. Basically a normal map is just another texture layer, only it determines a lighting surface instead of color, amiright? So yeah, normal maps on roads, trees' bark, rocks, walls, and everything else, in the same quality as on the soldier models, would make this game look so goddamn awesome.

I just can't imagine how great it will look like in two or three years of intense modding.

Hm, i guess one thing they are currently working on would be smoke, dust and fire effects, in other words cloudlets. In the older screenshots that stuff didn't look too great, and i think it would be very distracting to have those dull effects in game right next to these new awesome models. We haven't seen much smoke and explosions in the more recent screens, so i believe it is highly likely that they are improving vehicle damage/ damage effects right now. also bullet impact, which looks quite pathetic in good ol' Flashpoint

Would be nice if they included some missions you HAD to do..nothings worse than people trying to pilot a vehicle only to quickly crash,to enhance realism it would be nice if you had to go through some kind of training course to qualify to use a vehicle..or am I one of the people that are too into that they make training missions with empty vehicles in many landforms to practice on in a helicopter or so? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif

I'm not sure if the US still has the air cavalery units, but they were/are mixed helecopter/infantry units with their own dedicated UH60s and gunship support. The aircraft bore the same insignia as the troops.

I'd like to see ranks on the uniforms, it would aid in recognition of other players/AI and would be yet another detail which adds to the immersion. Even better though possibly not too easy would be name tags on the uniform http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif

Why wouldn't it be? BIS have no need to fake Armed Assault pics with other engines. Its just your over-active imagination making you see things you want to, rather than what you actucally do.

Yes, the hangar is from VBS1, and thats about where it stops. VBS is BI's property so they can use any of the content at their own free will. This has been discussed over and over and over, with the same conclusion.

Inoffizielle Operation flashpoint 2 - unofficial Operation flashpoint 2? I don't wanna sound meticulous, but where do they get their information from?

Max Power
Apr 29 2006, 19:30
Regarding normal maps on the ground:

It certainly is possible, but it would make more sense to put a simple bump map on there with maybe a specular map. This would achieve a similar effect without having to meticulously model a patch of ground in high definition. You can convert bump maps to normal maps, but needless to say they lack a lot of information you would find in a pure normal map, and the effect is very similar. I believe bump maps are less resource intensive aswell.

Strange they are using ACU now and the US ARMY decal on the Blackhawk isnt there, i also recognise that hangar and maybe the air control tower from somewhere else?

I scaled it down and added a bit more brightness.

[img]http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f308/supercatpoop/edited_04.jpg[img]

Im not so sure if this last one really is from armed assault.

I agree with DM + if it is VBS2 like you think than why they post the screens in William Porter's Blog site makes no sense

That's exactly my point: ArmA is ArmA, Game2 is Game2 and OFP2 is OFP2. Why call ArmA "unofficial OFP2"? Those are two different games, and they are that for a long time now...i don't care what Codemasters will do, i care what BIS will do http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif Sorry if i sound too excited, it's not ment for you TiOn3r

Well, first of all, from what I can see, the machineguns in arma and in Ghost Recon are different weapons between the two screenshots. The one for Arma is the full sized M249 SAW, and the one for Ghost Recon is the paratrooper model.

Secondly, the are being viewed from different angles under different lighting conditions. I'm sure the yellow light being case off of the muzzle flash has much to do with the dynamic appearance of the GRAW model.

Thirdly, the GRAW weapon model seems to have a slightly higher poligon count- but the ArmA model seems to be slightly more proportionate to what I've seen of (replica) M249s. (My friend owns one and I shouldered it only last night).

Finally, what you are seeing in the ArmA screenshot may not represent a feature/ graphics complete engine or game model.

Oh, and nice photo Sanctuary. That picture is so close to the model's virtual angle/focal length/perspective that it's crazy!

that screenshot for ArmA may not represent a feature/graphics complete model.

We would call ArmA unofficial OFP 2 on account of the fact that it's using a brushed up OFP engine, whereas OFP 2 may not. A better monicker of ArmA might be OFP 1.5, as the developers have stated in interviews in the past.

IMO, if they wanted to relate it to Operation flashpoint in any way, they should've said: "Armed assault, from the developers of Operation flashpoint", or something like that, but i guess people (gamers) who don't know the whole story will get confused anyway...

Thinking I'm not going to refer to OFP at all after ArmA's release. It will all be relative to ArmA, it will be my new unit of measure. Screw 1/10 of an inch, meter, angstrom... It's .5 ArmA, or at most .99 ArmA but nothing larger http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

I reckon its better if they dont refer to Flashpoint as people may just think its a rehash of an old game and wont be interested in it, where as if they think of it as a brand new game they might gvie it a chance.
Fans of Flashpoint will already know AA is a thunderballs version of Flashpoint anyway so dont need to publicise it for them (us).

On the M249, i reckon AA version looks better than GR one. GR m249 looks more like a Flame Thrower.

This is the replica he has:

http://steelhawkairsoft.com/ca249.html

It's all metal (except for the composite parts like on the real thing like the stalk and grip). It's actually very close to the weight of the real thing, if not slightly heavier.

And why would you want the para version? They issue the full length version to grunts for a reason. You take the para version, I'll be on the other side of the field with the full length heavy barrel version (in the game). Be sure to yell really loud when I'm filling you full of holes, because I'll be outranging you by quite a margin. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Seeing as how the M-249 SAW and the Para are the same basic weapons, firing the same ammo, just with different barrel lengths... oh, and considering that they're both MACHINEGUNS... someone with a SAW facing off against someone with a Para at any distance between say 100 and 500 meters would stand equal chances of killing each other. They're both light machineguns, anyway.

What gave you the impression that the SAW would somehow triumph over the Para in such a situation, anyway?

Max Power
Apr 30 2006, 07:47
Range, accuracy and controllability... also sustained fire rate due to the heavier, longer barrel heating up much less quickly than the para version. I doub this is modelled in the game, however.

Also, damage at all ranges with hits by the full length version will be slightly more than the damage done by the para version due to the m885 round's tendency to fragment at higher velocities.

It's a light machinegun. The range/accuracy/control isn't going to change dramatically when you cut a few inches off of the barrel. The weapon is ineffective or only mildly effective well before the barrel's shortened length comes into play.

The only valid point there would be the "damage" being higher for a longer barrel at closer distances, but even then we're talking about maybe 20-40 yards of extra increased effectiveness. Maybe 50-75 if we're being extremely generous, and even then, unlike a rifle where you're only hitting the guy with a shot or so every time, an extremely easily controlled LMG like the 249 or Para is going to put a lot of rounds on target at your average engagement distance.

So, in short, you're exaggerating the difference between the two weapons. Congrats for knowing that the barrel is shorter and that M855 fragments at "high" velocities (above 2700fps, to be precise), but to jump to your other conclusions based on that is erroneous.

one of the really cool things about the HDR lighting we have in the game is that bright lights such as sunlight or explosions affect how well you can see the world around you, what that means in practical terms is that if you have the sun in your eyes, and you're about to ambush the enemy you put yourself at a disadvantage due to your decreased ability to see.

The difference in muzzle velocity between the minimi and the para is on the order of over 100 m/s.

There has been much discussion on the effectiveness of the m4 on desert terrain, given it's relatively poor terminal effectiveness.

YES, it's light machinegun. They are used to provide accurate firesupport to point AND area targets. Range, accuracy and controllability are very important. And this is still to say nothing about the issue of hot barrels. If the para version was teh hax0r in conventional military situations, they would chop all of the barrels off of every weapon they had.

But my point is this:
I know we will have dynamic weather (trees/bushes moving depending on the speed of wind, aproaching of choppers..)
Its really nice to have grass moving with the wind and all.. but i think the grass is too big or something is not right there.
Maybe it needs to be changed somehow;

That moving grasses annoy me a bit and i believe it will annoy all regular players after a while.
As you can see in the movie Le Port (link above) there is almost no wind and the grass is always moving. The same think happens in "Plastic" ArmA (non official movie), the grass will "dance" all the time.

would be nice to control this movement of the grass or configurable it.

By "desert terrain" I'm guessing you meant to say long-range engagements?

I'm quite familiar with the M-249 SAW, believe it or not. Not in the "Well, I read this in a book, and played a game once where it did blah-blah...", but rather in in the "I've fired them 'for real', and I ran a simulated range that had them featured" sense.

I'm not trying to get in a discussion over how various types of machineguns are used in various combat situations.. that's beside the point. My gripe is that you went and took something very small (minor difference in barrel length) and then tried to appear "weapon-wise" to another forumgoer by acting as if that minor difference would make you "triumph" in a theoretical SAW-vs-Para fight.

I'm calling you out on that. You can quit with the armchair-commando "But if the Para was the greatest thing ever, THEN EVERYONE WOULD USE IT, duh!" stuff whenever you'd like. It's irrelevant. You're acting as if the Para is noticeably inferior to the SAW, and the simple answer is... no, it's not, and it's certainly not in the way you said (implying that one would easily triumph over the other in a versus scenario).

Too picky to worry about, and grass you see isn't always as short as in peoples lawns,it looks more natural being a bit long, and having the grass move in a bit of wind is better than having no movement at all or spending hours trying to code it,unless they do the weather controls again where the grass would lightly blow or in stormy weather, blow hard just like trees..hm..wonder if its also possible to add a flash in a general area when lightning strikes,if not,ah well. Although enviroment is great and all, weather was one of the contributing factors I liked alot about OFP,there was no "one type weather" bs.

It is noticibly inferior to the SAW in terms of muzzle velocity, and the para is noticibly superior to the SAW in terms of ease of portability and probably handling in a CQB environment.

I'm relying here on the opinions of several primary sources. I'm not about to cite them all, but one such man is named Kevin Dockery. Do you believe that scholars must have to conduct every experiment that has ever been done in their field over the course of history in order to know anything about their respective field? Come on. Your opinion on this matter is no better than mine if all you've done with your machinegun is point it down range and pull the trigger on paper cut outs/burned out cars/watermelons.

I wasn't saying that the SAW is better in every scenario. I was saying that I think I could use the superior terminal performance to my advantage in a para vs. SAW fight. Obviously this scenario is idiotic, and I meant it as a passing comment to illustrate the strength of my preference based on what I know. You seem to be the only one holding on to it with both hands. If you wish to provide me with some evidence to support your theory that minute differences in performance don't make any difference in combat situations, you may PM me. Kthnx.

-It seems to me that what everyone around here called "hardcoded CTI" is actually some sort of proper large-scale war going on.Well,if that is what they mean by that 12-hour mission thing. And gosh am I happy about that.Money,Factories were like totally silly.

Quote ]They are opting for 10km ViewDistance for a 3.0GHz machine setup

if this is true, and i really hope so, i bet it will be great with artellery
Nevermind artillery! We may finally have realistic weapon ranges for atgms!

10km view distance sounds awesome http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif.

I also hope that the 20 seconds "living time" for missiles etc. is removed because that is the main problem with artillery in current OFP.

Yea they could improve rockets a lot. Shoulder-fired rockets have a minimum range where the rocket doesn't explode, would be nice if you are trying to shoot at a tank far away but an enemy pops up from around a corner and you lob a rpg at his head without blowing yourself up.

Top left: version spotted in the most recent (28 april) screenshots

Top right: Model from a early build that previewers are allowed to use. Note that the soldier doesn't wears the ECU camo we saw on the "recent" screenshots.

Bottom left: Game2 model that has the "Raptors" emblem. (http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics2/OFP213.jpg) Also has a mirror that's missing on the other models I believe.

Bottom right: Same as top right.

...voila! the mystery is solved.

Well all very informative http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif How does one tell the difference between a "Humvee prototype" and the one in current service though? Which ones are shown in those images? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/help.gif

That 10km viewdistance might be the limit. In OFP you can set the viewdistance to 5000.

The goal was ~2km as default. About 6 months ago.

It would be nice if someone from BIS could confirm that everything in the new preview is true.
