3D Ironsights. Oh Em Gee.
A Harrier!!!!
I can't wait for dynamic campaigns and CTI in multiplayer. It will be as close as possible to game 2 with destructible buildings. BIS I love you. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif

looks very like ofpe and nothing like game2 (the videos fro hrej).
all in all i think the mainstreamers will love, what is after all ofp with nice graphics.
42mins to go until its comptely downloaded http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
looking at the lcd moniter pictures it appears to be very like flashpoint in that it swings alot from beautiful to fugly as regards to looks(think combat photo thread v ingame flashpoint) http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Those 2 vids aren't anything special since it's footage of helo flying. Very short and helo is flying too high to actually see anything special.
Screens were much more interesting IMO.
FPS is great though all the time. Dunno what monster machine is running that.

Aug 23 2006, 18:03
Yeah. For those of you that haven't downloaded the videos yet, don't get your hopes up. They're both very short, and show very little.
Cool, yes. Worth getting extremely excited over? Nope.

Sure the guys hands still dont hold the minigun http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif but im sure they will fix that, however look where it is firing and notice the impressive looking bullet impacts rather then the farty small brown dust http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
but better then nothing...
The grass looks so fluffy http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
Where do you see bullet impacts?
Average Joe
Aug 23 2006, 18:15
Along the Road and on the side of the building just as the minigun cease's firing, look closely http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Gaaaaaah everytime the download starts it cuts me off within 1 seconds and i end up with a corrupt download, damn it that we cant have other mirrors http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif
Screens look nice though, the forests reminds me of the screens of Game2 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
There's a big brown stain on the right building, but it was there before he starts firing.
anyway, I believe you, I'm just to tired to see it.

+- 1200 bullets per minut

Update 15:30
Here some facts BIS confirmed and that i saw live:
- the smoke effects do look as good as they appear on the screenshots
- multiply gunner positions f.e. 2 Miniguns in the UH-60
- a working collision model
- buildings are now destructible
- bigger groups (more than 12 Men)
- Bullet-Penetration
- Leaning
- hold your breath to aim better
- etc.

You can bet that BIS is not showing old trailers on GC. It was mentioned that they'd have a new build ready then, and the trailer will most certainly be based on that.
As with any development project, there are always uncertainties/risks, so you can never be sure you've made the target date, until you've passed it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Aside from the sound issue (which is not game related at all). and those minor animation quibles, I absolutely loved the trailer. BIS has defintely raised the bar up from OFP's production value levels with excellent music and even better graphics. Probably will be having (another) dream about ArmA tonight. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
- dRb
P.S. Extremely happy to see some fixed wing aircraft (especially a harrier, as it is the most practical plane for small ground-attack role) as well as the amazingly sexy 3d ironsights. We asked and you delivered BIS!
Just look at the smoke - it's definitely a new trailer.
The jumping between slowmotion and fastforward is surely on purpose (maybe some Matrix fan cut it together).
I'm also convinced that the sound is not out of sync - the shooting and the explosions are just cut in as ambient and not directly recorded out of the game.
EDIT:
I forgot to say - It's a great Trailer - I love it!
I love the trailer, especially the Harry. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Because it woulkd take another year to model all the "rooms" of the houses and it ´would make the game more laggy. At this point, the Geforce 2MX user are going to cry! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

Nothing like the public to really test a game for bugs. Beta groups are very small in comparison and I am sure they will not find everything.

Awsome trailer, very well done http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/notworthy.gif .
One thing that still bugs me in Arma is the USMC harrier and cobra, the usmc/usarmy mix cuts down the authenticity of the game imo.

Oh, but please DO upload it... some people here made their own trailer composed of footage from multiple movies... I'm sure that is you only FIX a movie nobody'l complain http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif .
All right, here it is: synchronized Version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqy1IBRxfKM)
Unfortunately, the quality was somewhat lowered by youtube, but hey - the audio is in place. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

One thing that still bugs me in Arma is the USMC harrier and cobra, the usmc/usarmy mix cuts down the authenticity of the game imo.
You don't ever get the US Marines called into assist the US Army because they have a faster response/deployment? I thought that's why the US Marines existed?
We know that not all character/player models have been finished/revealed yet, so I think it's entirely possible that in the final game the storyline will be that the US troops on the island are re-enforced by Marines.

Nice video and music.
The environment is really coming along. Some of the close tank moves were very realistic looking. The sounds were much better (accept some later tank engine sounds). Of course the smoke is going to add a new feature to the game.
This is THE game that sets the bar for ANY first person shooter that thinks it's trying to be realistic. (from what we've seen)

Sounds good to me. As I pointed out there do apear to be two different models for US guys, One with his sleves rolled up the other has his sleves down. Also I've only seen the Bull insignie on the long sleve guys.. prehaps they are army??

Very nice Interview,Great Job.
I like the stuff about the AI a lot.Hopefully that taking cover stuff covers Survivability-decisions as in "Uhm,there are 4 T-80's coming at us,we better hide until they are away"(If they have no AT). Good to hear the Flight-Model has been improved somewhat, the OFP ones often made helicopter operation different than they should be. Hopefully again the AI takes use of that new FM and takes care not to crash into other people http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
And on the trailer: Although I don't like the new smoke at all, the graphics are as good as you would want them for the OFP sequel. Large Viewdistance, a world populated with many objects and the best of all: Rather not that much shiny and glossy and funnily colored http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif . And the animations on the vehicles make it look like there is a improved vehicle simulation on all of them. (Emphasis on "Make it look like").
Anyways, hopefully we will also get some new information on the editing part(Especially if the current ArmA scripting list is final) http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Whoa,I love the way the M1A1 moved...it looked like just like they do in real life, something about a driver and gunner doing seperate things seems to give that effect. 01:39 really looked great, the gloves and whatnot, though I'm not sure if thats how a 50cal sounds, but they know what their doing.
The enviroments look great, the vegetation and realistic grass with that detailed ground look terrific.
The humvee at 01:09 looks terrific and blends in so well with the ground,The ocean looks great and judging from the images, the ocean and inlets have different textures to them which is great.
I also think I can hear the treads moving and squeeking on the M1A1,not just the engine,I sure hope so..it would add soo much in the sound to the beauties that are tanks...

I was noticing the incredibly "jumpy" animations too. I hope they get changed to more smooth animations closer to what we saw in original OFP.
Apparently, it takes a completely different posture compared to original OFP to hold an M4... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Also, that AT4 that guy is holding doesn't really look a lot like an AT4 when it zooms in... the sights aren't supposed to be on the side like that.
Edit15: Heh, it would appear it's a US soldier is just friendly firing that tank. If you look closely while the camera zooms in you can see he's wearing digital camo.

Im fairly sure it is an AT4. That or a javelin but if you pause it a second or two before he fires you see him with it on his back and that is what makes me think it is an at4.
EDIT: Its an AT4, the sight is on the side:
Picture (http://z.about.com/d/usmilitary/1/0/r/G/at4.gif)
EDIT 2: Maybe he is trying to "protect" it somehow. You know creating a smoke screen around it or intercepting another missile with an incredibly well placed rocket.... Okay so he is friendly firing it. We noticed that a few pages back though and I thought it was a guy with an RPG originally but its not.
AFAIK the bad looking animations were a result of the video be re-encoded to Divx. It runs at 1.5-2x speed so everything looks wrong.
It's the transitions between the animations that suck, but Placebo did say they're being worked on in the latest interview.

It seems you are correct http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/notworthy.gif. Here is a picture of my AT4 sight...
Something for maybe someone to note is that one's right hand is barely visible (it's not holding the front of the launcher) when you're looking through the sights.
The below pictures (the top one is basically what you should see) illustrate:
Also worth noting is that, to the human eye, there is very little blur on the sights and the launcher, and when there is, it is mainly on the rear sight and only on the rear sight, and it's barely noticable.

- If you look into the sun or move into a darker room, your eyes need to adept to the new situation
- The rotor of the choppers adept to the speed
- The wheels of planes and shoppers (You will fly planes in some missions) have amortisseurs (bablefish translated)
- The island is really large (ok, we knew that before http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif )

LMAO! Yeah wooden planks discribes it well http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
But not every anim is odd. They modified nearly every anim in a better way than it was before. The "hit the dirt" anim was the first anim that really impressed me... very authentic. And today it was the disarmed running (Time: 00:48).
For those who think its because DIVX. It's not. This issue exist longer and were already discribed in earlier threads somewhere.
An other thing thats a bit bemusing is the "Fleshcolor" of the soldiers models. It has to be a bit more brighter or fady imo -however you like to say. Its a bit flamboyant or even "pinkish". Look at a real picture or at your own arm and you'll see what i mean.

You can see that they are changing the speed of the game in the top left corner, not often though. One example is at 01:42 (look close). I don't know if it matter but just something I saw.

The video was nicely done but too fast and difficult to follow. The need to replay many times means it would be better if the video was slower and longer and at normal speed, but a brilliant presentation all the same and a perfect 'teaser'!
The latest screenshots show fantastic attention to detail from the abundant vegetation to rust stains on the lighthouse to dirt and damage on APC's and the realistic faces of soldiers! The smoke is looking awesome too! This is gonna be one really fun game to play! I take my hat off to you BIS! ....Keep up the good work! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Update: If there is said save-function for MP,will be able to save mulitple savegames for one mission and re-load those multiple savegames again.I am not talking about a "Quicksave"-type of thing, but rather having 1 mission that is being played by 2 different set of players. I also figure its the admin that can select the Savegames then. Sorry for the waffling if the save-game in MP thing ain't true

I guess BIS did this to fit more action shots into a smaller video.
Its just an effect and nothing more.
Other thing...
I just want to take the chance and say what i said few month ago to all of you "I-don't-need-graphics...i'm-playin-for-gameplay-guys".
I hope you've learned your lesson. If the people wouldn't (and probably as a main scenario in this case - the publishers) said anything about the graphics and had been statisfied with the status in the past, you'll never get this version of ArmA you have today.
Those who cheers the loudest today about the look of ArmA now (and it still isn't a crysis or HL˛) would ate the whole cow yesterday.

BIS you skivey sneaky buggers! I LOOKED and LOOKED and could not find one-single-example of the grass and weeds appearing as the 'radius' around the viewpoint moved. That's when it hit me. It was happening, just it was blending in sooo well, I didn't notice... Until I saw a bush @<hidden> 0:26 on the left side of the screen, off in the distance, just behind the soldier fading in so slick I needed to watch several times to confirm. Great job!

According to this german interview (http://www.pcgames.de/?article_id=499542&page=1) (page 2), you can command over 60 soldiers instead of 12!
But 12 were already giving me soooo much problems.... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

... I LOOKED and LOOKED and could not find one-single-example of the grass and weeds appearing as the 'radius' around the viewpoint moved. ...
Somewhere about the middle of the video when some northern Sahrani (I assume) troops run toward the camera, half in a wood half on a plain, there is some flickering green pretty close to the camera position. (can't tell you the exact time as I don't have access to the video right now)
Some walls still colapse in segments when run over by tanks - I am not sure whether it's a wall made of concrete or metal segments, but it looks odd anyway.
All those explosion are almost a bit too much Hollywood style - once in a while a vehicle just breaks down or the crew is killed by a hit, they do not always blow up in great clouds of smoke and fire.
But that's just minor stuff which in no way affects the overall great imppressions left by all the new information, screenshots and videos. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/notworthy.gif

You´ll see first team members 1-10, hit F11 or F12 and you will sie 11-20 and so on. You can controll each unit or you make color squads (red, green etc.) like in OFP + OFP:R.

Quote[/b] ]The mappers in OFP:R had one “problem“ with the editor if they used a lot of units. The waypoints in mass battles have always been a confusing thing. Will there be a possibility to give the waypoints of each unit a unique color and will there be similar little helpful things or will the editor nearly remain the same? And will the number of applicable groups and units remain the same concerning their limit like in OFP:R or is the extended engine able to handle more AI controlled units?
Quote[/b] ]Markus Kurzawa: ... .Also the capacity of 64 groups per side is the same. But you can control more the 12 units in one group. In the mission you’ll control the units 1-10 with function keys F1 to F10 and if there are more than 12 group members the F11 and F12 keys will show the previous or next ten soldiers.
64 groups, each group can have more then 12 units..
... lets say "only" 20 (lets not get too excited), that means 1280 units per side..
this sounds interesting..
only question, will it lag? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif
If you put down to many units it obviously will http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif . I for once hope that company-sized engagements are feasible.
I for once like that the 12-man-group-limitation has been broken. Not that I will use it to act as a platoon leader,I will wait for Community-made command engines for that.(With the new UI with new User-Input control those should be sweet), but it seems to be very useful for technical purposes and static AI based opfor and for different Squad-Organizations that need more than 12 man http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif.
If I may come back to my questions about the "ability to save". It would be interesting to know if PC Games made that up,misunderstood that or if it is actually true. Being able to save in MP without any savegame-bugs as well so Script-Data isn't lost has huge mission-design implications. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

I mean, lets say I'm commanding a rifle section - for simplicity lets say a Viet Nam era Australian rifle section.
Pressing F1 selects my scout group (2 men)
F2 selects my gun group (3 men)
F3 selects my rifles group (5 men)
If i want my gun group to lay fire, I simply mash F2 and click on the enemy, then I hit F3 and click on some bushes to the left to move my rifles group around the flank.
Same thing could work at platoon level.
F1 - F3 for my rifle sections
F4 for the support section
That's what I was hoping for, instead of what we have in OFP which requires several buttons.
Just my $0.02
Nice interview.
Disappointed to read that SpecOps won't be given higher attributes / tactics to differentiate them form normal soldiers. One of my bugbears about OFP was how when I set an AI specforce attacking an enemy outpost they always got cut down instantly.

Is it just me, or do the vehicles in the latest trailer seem to accelerate from standing to a very high speed almost instantly? See the shot of the two hummers on the hill (one reversing) for example.
Also, it appears to me that the target of the two M1s in the last tank scene of the trailer is being propelled rediculously far by being hit by the M1s.
I was hoping that Arma would really forfil the wishes of the armour users in OFP, but it seems we will not be seeing that, I wanted more than the BF2 experience, personally.

60?? Well I hope the AI has improved a helluva lot (which it sounds like...supress and flank... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/inlove.gif ) Because with 12 in ofp1 I had a hard time commanding them and keeping them all alive.
Something I wonder though, if you create color-coded groups I wonder if it would be possible for AI to take over them and have them do their own thing. Of course, you could recall them back at any moment.

I wanted that in OFP. It would be so much easier to have 'team red' act as a complettely seperate group untill you call them back.
...actually, i gues you could do it with some slight scripting...say you split off 5,6,7 and 8 to be team red. You could get 6,7 and 8 to become a different team (say, bravo) and have them follow number 5 around. this way you would only be responsible for one man. Ha ha! That's cheap...flaming and discredit me and ppl who share my opinion as a "whiner" shows it. But you're outing yourself as someone who eats everything he gets on his table.
Fact: ArmA wouldnt be this like if noone said anything. Do you seriously think someone do more (Time is money my friend) than he must? On what kind of parameter should BIS measure when not on them who will buy their product? It's very easy to follow... Everyone statisfied = End of development. And sorry if i break your dreams but BIS isn't your personel friend- BIS is a company wich try to make money in a material world. If you're too young to understand this intrust yourself to someone who can help you out.
The result proofs what is possible and they even added VBS1 elements into it. It also proofs that fellas like you were and are wrong with your opinion. It's 2006 and of course they have to change their strategy. And they did well. If you are now pissed off because you have to change your old 800 Mhz into a new standart, i don't really care. I just wonder why ppl like you are in the ArmA-Forum at all? OFP gives so much - even for your 800 Mhz! So why leave? If you give a shit about the realism and the look of a game so stay at OFP-CWC..we are fine with this decision.
The Rest of us who enjoying the technolgic possibilities wont shut their eyes. We will criticize like we did. And because BIS is down with the com they will hear and decide wich critics are constructive and wich are not. People like you aren' good for BIS. Sorry to say that. But its simple. If there noone who pushes you to the limit, you'll never find your limit.
I try to get the best from BIS. And again....we can be very thankful that BIS is listen to the com.

When do you think a gold status will be near?
Jiri Rydl: That’s hard to answer. Maybe in 2 or 3 months. I know we said this also at E3 but there was a lot of new developments at the last months. So Yes, maybe in 2 or 3 months.

Seems you've got confused. A german publisher has sign Arma for distribution in Germany, Austria and I think Switzerland. Another has signed for Polish distribution. Another for the Czech republic. I think there may be one or two more ... so a total of 4 or 5?
No global publisher has been signed and this now seems unlikely to happen. BIS will sign with regional publishers instead.
BIS are also planning on distributing the game online, though what system they plan to use has not been stated.
Woot! There will be rabbits and cheep in ArmA http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif (From the Esports interview).

Where does that leave the North American market?

lot of great news and excelent video ... but ...
what made me bit "sad" was no plans about walking in vehicles (yet there is addon which allows this in VBS) and weapons "modular" system ...
but i hope this can appear as part of "updates" or "addons" or "bonuspack" in future ... BIS should open donate4feature campaign to fund these http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I'm not too disappointed that we can't walk in vehicles. I can see 90% of people (including myself) spending an hour in the editor walking around transport aircraft in flight, thinking "cool" and then moving on to actually playing the game.
The weapon thing would've been nice, though. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif
* We will NOT have thermal sights, the game DO use HDR lightning, so it can be modable.
* Weapons can be configured with different configs. For example silences
* We will still be able to use custom faces in both SP and MP
* Ironsights is 3D
* TrackIR will function for both soldiers on ground, but it is also implemented for crew members in vehicles.
* Inventory is incriesed and it is made easier to use it while in combat
* Ingame voice is implemented in Armed Assault like in OFP, but will also work using sockets (not directplay - red).
* Flightmodel is greatly increased, and BI is calling it "semi-realistic" - so you can easy spot a "newbie" among more experienced pilots.
* The sound engine have been redone. Soundwaves can get blocked by obstacles such as hills etc. Sound-speed is still modelled of course.
* Wound-textures and injury-system is still the same as OFP(so far).
* Island size is above 400 km2 - Terrain will be very different on different locations on the island.
* ArmA is based upon the same engine as VBS2
* We will probably see a new ArmA trailer later on.
* You will be able to 'chop' down a tree
* Artellery will be available - Paul doesn't know how, but he sure knows it's there http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
* You can have thousands of soldiers in a mission on the same time

Liked the trailer and official screenshots, but two things really bugged me (this is visible on 61 screens at gamesfire.at):
1. Water still looks like ass. I know that's because it is one of the fundamentals of OFP engine, so nothing can really be done. There are giant waves on rivers, which means that they are once again just an extension of the sea, which means that nothing really changed much.
2. THERE IS STILL NO PROPER WIDESCREEN SUPPORT!!! The demo was displayed on exactly the same screen as I have at home. And it is painfully obvious that there is no native widescreen resolution - just streched standard ones.
Don't get me wrong I can get over the water issue. I don't really care much about the water, but the widescreen support (or lack thereof) really bugs me. This is one of the reasons I stopped playing OFP since I've got my widescreen. It just looks wrong. I've been playing OFP from 1.00, but this issue can prevent me from buying ArmA. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif

I thought it was possible to play OFP wide screen by simply altering the FOV values in the config. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif I've seen this in a thread somewhere for sure! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
PS. I believe from the last interview that they are still working on the 'water meets shore' textures and anims. The water itself though is probably alreade done.
That and adding some parameters to the shotcut. I don't know if that really worked though.

Where does that leave the North American market?
Well unless a North American publisher shows interest in publishing the game, I'd say you're screwed. Blame your own games industry though, it's not like BIS are refusing to sell the game over there. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Quote[/b] ]Where is the statement it will be distributed online also?
In one of the interviews. http://www.ga.com.ba/clanak/514.html
Quote[/b] ]Tenga: If BIS don't manage to get a publisher, are there any backup plans like online distribution?
Paul: We have plans for online distribution irrespective of the quest to sign to a "box in shops" publisher as many people have embraced the online distribution system and we would like to think we encourage freedom of choice as much as possible.
The new water is more than fine by me. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I hope they include watersplash effects when bombs or whatever else is falling into the water. Such a feature woud add lots of atmosphere in beachhead missions.
The GC video shows it different, but I hope they will change it.
Horey ... more interviews mean that game is closer and closer to coming Gold...

Hello all,
I noticed in one of the video's supplied by th OFP.INFO crew in their recent interview that there is quite an interesting feature with regard to the 'water issue'.
The video in question is the 'Boat Trip' video (can be downloaded from ofp.info). Once you get past most of the video presumably explaining the transition of water from deep to shallow and showing the waves in action (there is no sound btw), you will notice at the end that before the boat drives up the rock on the shore ( ! ) the the view pans down below the boat itself, revealing TRANSPARENT WATER. This surely will bring about a new emphasis on gameplay and a new theater for battles to take place in. Though the question remains, will transparent water allow us to swim, and from previous posts it has been stated that it is not a planned feature, but we can always hope that their plans change and they do decide to add the ability.
Just an observation, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before.
I'm really impressed with the quality of the transistion between OFP to ArmA based on the screens and videos to date, but I believe 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating' so shall save judgement till release, but I do feel the active community has influenced the shape of the new game somewhat (even if it was by a small amount). Though there are lots of things being identified as 'problems' there are far more important and beneficial advances in the games funtionalty which make it very appealing indeed.
Will be watching with interest.
A quick question: Is anyone able to tell me if the Harrier has realistic flight (STOL/VTOL) capabilities? Has this been mentioned? If not it may be worth asking, would help a lot of addon developers out and may bring about the possibility of a VTOL craft being developed (V22 springs to mind) http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif .
Cheers guys,

sweet new screens and video on bis site. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif
i just saw this wonderful building in the background of this pic,
http://ofp.gamepark.cz/news/pics3/ArmAofpinfo3.jpg
and really just would like to hope that bis can make it enterable http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
it looks pretty big compared to old ofp buildings, just the wide scale and all. I like much that water can be transparent when its not so deep. No more hiding in the water from the A.i's maybe? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif Something i used in a few of my missions and just fooled with is when you setup group link script or something and then have the a.i chase you next to a beach and then you run down in the water and they refuse to shoot at you when you go down in the water enough much. but staying under the water for to long is not healthy either so http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
checked all the vids now, nice waves btw! looks like real ocean waves now. Also anyone know what the description field in the mission editor is used for? Do we type in more code there or is it like comments or something? Also anyone noticed that the list where you choose man , car ect was a bit more larger than in Ofp without addons? Maybe means we got more goodies in the original game than we got with ofp? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Yep! Hopefully swimming and snorkelling will be a possibility now! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
With regards the Harrier hopefully STOL/VTOL will be implemented as this is already part of the heli dynamics.

Hmmmm, i think we have a problem here.
Do you remember placebo telling (on radio interview)that it is impossible with nowaday technology make all building destructable.
As i understood there will be only few building in towns destroyable (bigger towns more of those bulding, smaller - less).
Maybe it will be some efect of debris falling when taking direct sabot/shell hit but after dust sit down we see same building intact but with "black" spots on it. And other building in town (special one) without 2 floor http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
So i suppose it will be just in that way, it is really hard to imagine all town buuilding destroyed, without roofs, 2 floors, holes, etc .. nice, but imposible even with fastest Dual Core intel duo cpus.
just my 2 cents... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif
Added: ohh after smoking one cigarete and making some thoughts i think that we will be able to destroy all OPEN buildings (with rooms, etc) wich, as far as i remember from ofp) where only few in town (and as placebo mentioned, will be only few in arma aswell) CLOSED buldings, i suppose, will have some effects: bang, dust comin up, some debris falling (maybe disaperring after awhile and when dust clears we have nice texture on building...

Cheers for posting the screen capture Red Kite http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/thumbs-up.gif .
RE: STOL/VTOL - I was interested in any knowledge circulating about fixed wing aircraft and their capabilities. Any clues as to if such a capability was planned/mentioned, even as a passing comment?
@<hidden> Commando84: the large building has a sign on it. Looks like it's A I R P O R T, so I'm guessing (duh! I'm so clever! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif ) that it is an airport terminal...
Looking forward to more news.
