I don't have a Xbox or OFP on Xbox, I can answer your question tho.

No fricken way can a console game playing the same game be better than PC, especially since we are comparing military simulators.
Xbox being a stripped down PC at that!!

If you want a preview of OFP on TV I can use my TV-Out from my PC

The Xbox version is a newer version of OFP, so it does look better and have more features, AND there would probably be more online capabilities with Xbox Live, however the PC version has many user made addons to make the game look and feel much better.

It's really up to you, OFP GOTY is only $9.99 in most stores so it couldn't hurt to try it on the PC first.

My thoughts on OFP:Elite Xbox compared to OFP PC:

Xbox version Pros:

- more detailed models
- more interactive environments (birds, grass, insects)
- more special effects (normal mapping, HDR)
- more consistent performance (no framerate drops)

PC version Pros:

- higher monitor resolution
- more precise input (mouse + keyboard)
- a lot of user made addons, mods (and some missions and campaigns as well)

I think the singleplayer gameplay is basicaly the same in both versions, and it is therefore quite hard to say which of them is more "fun". There are some gameplay improvements in the Xbox version, but nothing dramatic (even the fact we were able to transfer the gameplay with no significant cut downs can be considered an achievement).

However Elite can be considered a lot better in the multiplayer area, benefiniting from optimized netcode, join in progress and simplified session user interface.

having both i will say its both yes and no. the models and terrain look ALOT better on the Xbox than on the PC especially the soldier models they look great and more life like. i think the west spec-ops would have looked better had they didn't put the strange scarf around their face and instead just have spec-ops faces covered in face paint. but over all i think it depends on the quality of your PC. my PC for instance is a piece of crap. so my Xbox version of the game looks and plays 100x better than my PC version. there have also been some nice changes done to alot of the levels. like the mission were you have to escape from prison after your A-10 crashed. and they also put all the new vehicles like the BRDM and the M2A1 in the CWC and Resistance campaign, before they were included in the Red Hammer expansion, but they were never really used in any of the campaign missions which is one thing i complained about. and the controls are perfect. you can now lean left and right which pretty helpfull when in towns. but flying is kinda difficult. especially when it comes to flying the jets. i love to strafe enemy takes w/ my nose cannon but i find it to be almost impossible to keep my plane steady long enough to keep my sights on target. another disadvantage is you won't have the long view distance you have on the PC version and the mission editor is very basic. and you don't get to have the equal number of units you could place that you could have in the PC version. but somebody supposedly managed to somehow port a PC map to the Xbox, but that could be just a rumor. and of course you addon's. but in my opinion, though we have some nice addon's but hardly any good new campaign's to use them in. and lot of the mod teams seem to be calling it quits for now. so i won't be missing the addon community that much. since OFP is a old game, the price for the Xbox version is actually at a discount price so my suggestion is go ahead and get it if you have a Xbox. i thought it was well worth it.

Let us know what you think especially because you have played OFP on PC.

Sorry for the attitude towrds consoles, I only know 2 people with a Xbox, most have ps2's, I know this is changing.
My nephew doesn't hardly play his Xbox and I am sure he would like OFP on Xbox as he has played it on PC.

My oldest stepson currently runs the roads too much and doesn't have a PC but has a PS2 and Xbox and brags about the Xbox
Altho OFP:E isn't his kind of game, now that I think about it would make him a good christmas present

I didn't orginally buy OFP for the MP playing, features of Xbox version fixes some things that I hope the PC users will get soon too.

And altho I didn't buy OFP for MP gaming, odd that I MP game more lately,I just bought BF2 yesterday and am having fun kicking butt even tho I tried the demo and said NO

The most impressive change between PC vs Xbox is that the environment is much more realistic. Its great, you have

- stronger colors
- winds (trees / grass)
- dust from helicopters
- new / detailed objects
- waves at the shores
- new sounds (for instance chickes at the farm)
- animals (insects)

You haven't tried it, my friend.

Yes, OFP:E on X-Box IS more fun than OFP on the PC.

Ever get aggravated trying to connect to a multiplayer game in OFP on the PC?  Well, NONE of that aggravation presents itself on X-Box Live.  Furthermore, the multiplayer experience is enhanced by voice comm (combat efficiency if you have a good leader and people who follow orders or realistic chaos if you've got people all broadcasting on the same channel, talking over each other, information saturation) and your Friends List makes it easy to get a game going.

Except for the Box-determined low resolution of the game, the graphics are a MAJOR improvement over OFP on the PC.

I highly recommend it!  Just when I think I've detected a bug in this game, I realize that it is really a game feature that I didn't initially understand.  I've played for a handful of hours, now, I think and I haven't seen any bugs, yet.

And I've found aiming amazingly EASY!

If you own it on PC I don't think it's worth it really unless you are already paying for live and want some extra games for it.

So far OFP:E has not shown up in compatibility lists, guess we will find out for sure when some board member gets his hairy pawns on one. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/yay.gif

Don't underestimate the fact that ofp:e on xbox is solely controlled with a gamepad. That is the biggest draw back for me. To play an fps with a gamepad is really hard. You are a lot slower with aiming than on the pc with a mouse and there is no option to alter the sensitivity of the analog stick on ofp:e. You really have to try hard to get used to it.

Well, a local reputable game magazine review said it was quite good, especially one of their PC-fanatics who hates gamepads went ahead and ordered one for just HALO. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

I thought colision detection is fixed too? On PC OPF i must have goten myself stuck on furniture and home apliances a million times...
There is also the shaky feel and glitchy movement (very noticeable when we strafe run).
This is important stuff! Tell me it has been fixed and will never be back, please..

If you can play tactical shooters with a gamepad then its a must buy. If youre a mouse-look only gamer with a good PC just get the GOTY and start downloading all the amazing content before trying this or you may be frustrated. I played for about an hour last night night and couldn't finish "Steal the car" without getting killed. I have played this mission many times on PC so it should be easy but nothing seemed to work and turned off the console bummed out. I dont think I can play tactical shooters with a gamepad. I did finish Halo singleplayer but Halo AI isnt nearly as deadly as OFP. Turning around looking for moving targets is very slow and awkward. I am used to being able to turn my head and look both ways fast before moving but you cant do that here. I would be curious to know what the default field of view is in Elite. I usually play with a headset so the poor TV sound didnt help the feeling I was wearing blinders. The AI can use all the oretty new grass textures all to well and I got flanked and shot from behind alot trying to stalk. The low resolution and detail also made it seem washed out at times but that may be the TV. Despite all that I think this is a great deal for the xbox. The game really does look fantastic and there seem to be alot of little new things for the PC fans to enjoy. I usually only buy racing, action or sports games for consoles so i knew it would be very hard for me to play but maybe it will get easier if I go back through the campaign first. I am also going to put it on our HDTV and test out some better sound. The weapon view does look great btw. 3rd person view doesnt add anything for me is this version however. I cant wait to try Live MP but I want to get better before I go on. Overall I still say buy the PC version if you have a good PC and want to try OFP but dont buy an Xbox just to play OFP unless you are already a gamepad pro like my younger niece and nephews. Hopefully it will be playable for X360 eventually as I will have that setup on my hdtv on launch day.

As I see it, you have to completely change your tactics on ofp:e when you come from the pc version because of the slow gamepad movement. Gameplay gets really slow for me and I still have to get used to it. That's not a drawback for me but more a new approach on Flashpoint - I have to be more patient in missions and more caution is needed. The easiest missions like "Steal the Car" are now a real challenge.

OFP Elite takes the lead, but only for the moment. It has an updated engine that is better than the engine of OFP Resistance.
Ones Armed Assault is out (if this day will ever come http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif), the PC will take the lead again. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/nener.gif

Funny, I beat Steal the Car on the first try in about 2 or 3 minutes just shooting the two guards by the car.

Yes, you can "mouse-look". Squeeze the left-trigger and then look.

I find it amazingly easy to aim for a console shooter, though sniping is difficult because the A.I. are so jumpy.

I love sniping. Fist thing I do if there are any weapon crates around is look for a sniper rifle. I'm not too bad at leading even running foe now.

I prefer the M21, but will use any in a pinch....

Cheers...

Naah... buy Elite instead (even if you don't have XBox), because it will mean more money for BIS wich means more games from them http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Well I just rented OFP:X today, and I have to say wow, and aww. The graphics are sooo much better and the no-clipping in buildings is great. The controls take some getting used to but after 20 some minutes you'll get the hang of them. What I done like is the mission editor and no splitscreen. Cant really do much in the mission editor if your pretty new, besides placing a couple squads. In my opinion, the voices from PC are much better. But I would go with PC, gameplay over graphics, I choose gameplay
