I noticed that the rudders don't work in the helicopters. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah but in the PC version you could rotate the helicopter left and right in a fixed position without having to tilt or bank.

basically rotors are a set of wings rotating around a central axis and as with an aircraft you can increase lift by increasing the pitch of the blades.

OFP has worked with my Saitek game system, rudders and all, for at least 3 years. So it IS odd that Elite has issues - unless it's just an 'XBOX' thingy. -

i asked this in another thread, in the Commanders seat in the Bradley, i can't look to the left or right. i can look up and down but i can't look a full 360. i have to switch to the gunners seat in order to see what's going on.

If I remember right, the commander's view is limited in the real Bradley like this. Though you still have the vision blocks in the commanders cupola, right? ;-)

I heard somewhere that in the Cobra the faster you go the less the rudder works. I might have heard it from a Cobra pilot, but it's been such a long time since I was in the Air Cav, I don't remember.
I would like it if the OptiMatch selections would be saved and remain for the next time you go to the OptiMatch screen.

well the faster you move the more pressure on the sides builds up (as there more and more flow of air around you) thus you have to apply more force (lift) on the rudder to make it effective.

I'm experiencing problems trying to aim the gunner's station AT ALL (side to side OR up and down) while the commander is turned out in the M2 Bradley. Is this how it works in real life?

THAT was a nice extra on the pc version:
As a tank commander you always had the problem that the gunner wouldn't center the turret (or just hold still) when you were moving in a town with houses left and right of the narrow streets and so the cannon/tube/whatever-you-call-it would crash into the walls and the tank would hang all the time.
Now when you turn out in commander position, the gunner ALWAYS centers the turret (and it remains centered until you turn in) and you have no problem navigating through narrow obstacles.
That rather helped me ALOT!

So far, the only problems I've had are some random lock ups while playing system-link games (2 systems). There is nothing wrong with my network set-up as no system link games have ever locked up prior. Only OFP elite has been locking, nothing else does.
Being a fan of OFP for years on the PC. I got to say, BI did a great port, the framerate is a little low (looks like 25-30 range) but it stays smooth.

i know a glitch, and as im the sad sort whos probably only noticed this but anyway, u know the Sa-v80< or somthing like that (the resistance gun), its iron sight at the front has a circle with a small vertical line in the middle, like a smaller version of the mp5, but when you zoom in to look through the iron sites its just the AK iron site and there is no circle, just the verticle line.

In one mission I had to get to the extraction zone but my legs were broke so I had to crawl all the way there. One enemy soldier just runs about 2 feet infront of me from the right and just keeps running and didn't see me at all. Maybe he really didnt see me because I was prone or some bug made him incredibly stupid. But yeah I shot him in the back for being so dumb. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/pistols.gif

I've watched the Apache's gunners head model go to a very low LOD, shaped almost like a cement block. The block turned to look around, so I knew it was still the guy's head. It did it intermittently during the Air Assault mission.

At night, you can walk all over a Soviet soldier's back when he is prone and he won't notice.
Going down a not-too-steep-for-a-Humvee offroad slope in multiplayer caused both the Host (in his Humvee) and me (in mine) to die.

I lost control over my AI platoon. Only to regain control when i died as nbr 1 and respawned as nbr 3.
I suspect the embark into (2) jeeps which i had ordered just before. Perhaps the (AI) driver of the 2nd jeep somehow got my powers!?
It is possible that i did overlook something, but i tried nearly all commands with no posotive effect.

Initial cutscene showed one truck, then locked up as I waited in disbelief. We were laughing for a while about that... but it worked after a system restart when I started with the 'cutscene' that was now opened. There seemed to be a slight jerk when the truck started to go where the lockup had occurred the first time.
I played for a few hours straight, no other problems, lots of fun.

is it just me, or is the M21 and SVD a tad under powered for military grade rifles when compaired to the hunting rifle the resistance has? i was playing the sniping single mission and it takes a couple of rounds to drop somebody. w/ the hunting rifle, any direct hit to the body usually kills in one shot. maybe im just not used to the scopes on the other two rifles.

Military rifles are designed to injure the enmy soldiers, while hunting rifles is, of course, designed to down the target :-)

I use M21 a lot http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif love it in fact. I usualy make one shot one kills except from time to time if I get a shot that hit but didn't, almost like a graze. Even when I lead a running target most it usualy takes is one direct hit and down they go. If you really want to be sure though just try for head shots as they are always one shot kills.
I did however try the hunting rifle and while it has a low clip count it really does pack a punch.
I also have found that from time to time I have a clear shot and for some reason there is no impact at all, like firing blanks, very strange. And some times even leaves will stop a shot compleatly, just some of the time.

There is a collision detection glitch along the sides of the bridge. When you make contact with the edge of the bridge you get stuck and eventually fall off the side to your death. I noticed one other time where I got stuck in the Petrovice city in one of the two really tall buildings. At the bottom of the ladder I couldn't leave the building, only go up. These are minor issues as I'm absolutely in love with this game.

Every now and then I lose control of my character in multiplayer and it gets "possessed" by a demon player that assumes control, even though I am still viewing everything the character does through its eyes.

I was a little dissapointed with the way that the helicopters in this game are controlled. The main problem is the lack of tail rotor control. during forward flight, the tailrotor would not normally be used anyway, but during hover flight the tail rotor should control the yaw axis, (that is, the direction the helicopter is pointed)
As it is, at the moment, you use the same control for yaw as you use for roll. That is not correct. I assume they did it this way to make it easier to fly, but in my opinion, it takes away from the realism. Add to that the fact that when you use what SHOULD be the Tail rotor control, the helicopter rolls in the direction selected, up to 45 degrees and then moves REALLY slowly in that direction, that is just plain stupid and beyond any possible physics http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif
If this inaccuracy was corrected, flying the helicopters could well be a little more difficult to fly but they would also be MUCH more manoeuvrable.
Not sure if you care or not, I haven't seen any other objects like this, but there is a bush at I 7 on Nogova that is about 10 inches or so off the ground. Its at the 128 elevation marker area.

Im not for sure if anyone has noted this aparent glitch yet but while i was playing a LAN party game I had an AI as my driver in a M1A1 and I was the Gunner well anyway what happend was that when the abram started to move it started jerking real bad, like hoping back and forth and this would keep on untill i switched to the drivers position and drive for about 4 min. and then switch back. I first thought it was just a problem maybe in my xbox but then my uncle and a few of my friends have had this same problem. Its just a every once in a while thing.

1. When I am flying a helicopter and switch the gunners weapons to hellfires, he doesn't attack with them the targets I announce to him. With machine guns and rockets he does, so what must I do to make him use the hellfires?
2. I read somewhere that the vehicles/aircraft can switch on lights, but I don't find any action/button to do so...
3. When I complete one of the single missions I get a sign that the mission was completed, but I don't get such a sign when completing one of the instant missions...
4. After completing a mission I get my statistics for this mission and the score etc.. But I miss a possibility to view my statistics for each single mission completed, so I can check whether I am improving on it or not.
5. When flying the view is heavily limited due to thick fog. Any things to do to increase the view distance here?

I'm basing this on the pc version, as I assume it's similar in regards to these questions.
1. Hellfires aren't guided and therefore you have to aim the crosshair at the target before he fires.
2. There should be an option in the action menu to turn on the lights, maybe this is changed in Elite to reduce clutter in the menu? The lights are not very noticeable in the day though.

Usually to reveiew your past statistics you would have to go back to the main screen to select your campaign,it will show you the mision names,clicking them (or displayed near them) would show how many enemies you have killed,friendlies lost,etc.

You need to press Fire to tell him to fire once you see the firing position is good, the same way as you do it in the tank. You could also switch to manual fire, but this way your hellfires would be unguided. If gunner fires it, he locks it to the target you designated and they are guided during the flight.

You can use action meny for this, but only when it is dark.

That feature is in the PC version as well. You can change this by giving the civilian formations a West officer, then make this probability of presence 0% (I assume this basic functionality is present in the XBOX version) - watch the Russians tear the coppers apart http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
During one of the first missions in Resistance, the one where the base is overrun (I think its the third or fourth mission), the game goes to "Objective Complete" too early, while enemies are still around, and I kept getting killed while the Cut Scene was playing.

Oh, sorry. I thought Hellfires and FFARs were the same. I'm not very knowledgeable with weapons and from his description it sounded like it just wouldn't fire because he didn't have the crosshair over the target.

I'm currently playing the CSW campaign on veteran level, but on the start screen when I select my profile "recruit" level is displayed instead. I'm pretty sure I selected veteran when I started with the campaign, so why is it displayed as s different skill level and how can I make sure that I'm actually playing on veteran?

When you unplugg your headset mid game (actually remove the module) you get this funky noise. I've noticed this more with system link but have discovered it on xbox live as well. When you plug it in it stops, but occasionlly you come across some guy with it stuck on and this god aweful noise continues for about 5 secs.

try changing the "Hz" option in your XBOX , can't remember if it works better on 50 Hz or in 60 Hz but it works for me, now the game is much more smooth

I get that noise loading a mission, sometimes. I assume you mean the screechy digital noise that sounds like the computer equivalent of a phonograph needle skipping across a vinyl record?
I also get that noise in the PC version. I assumed it meant that one of the channels in my SB Audigy card was fried. Does the X-Box use a SoundBlaster card for sound?
I allso get the screechy sound when i start a game some times on the Xbox, intrestting to hear that you get it on the PC version aswell. must be something in the game code that was brought over when they converted it to the Xbox i guess. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif
I was playing the revenge single player mission and the mission wouldn't end I went searching everywhere for 30 minutes thinking that the enemy could have fled. Theres a kinda odd/funny glitch/bug I found or atleast it pertains to one area,in the Bomberman mission if you stand on the hill and look at the trees your shadow is elevated as its normal height but not on the ground.

hi Minduxx, go to the settings menu on the XBOX start-up interface, it should be under the "video" menu or something, I do use a PAL XBOX (I'm from North Italy), now that I think about it I'm not sure if the NTSC XBOX have the option to change the Hz http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/icon_rolleyes.gif

Theres a kinda odd/funny glitch/bug I found or atleast it pertains to one area,in the Bomberman mission if you stand on the hill and look at the trees your shadow is elevated as its normal height but not on the ground.
That happens all the time on the pc version too, when the sun is behind a hill and there are objects on that hill. I don't mind much though.

I overheard a player sharing a bug with glassairports.
Apparently the bicycle is quasi-amphibious. Try it out for yourself. I did, and it seems to be true.
It is hard to control, but you won't drown while peddling the bicycle across the water.
I thought the M2 Bradley was amphibious in the PC version, but maybe my memory isn't serving me correctly.

The M2 Bradley doesn't appear to be amphibious in OFP:E.
So...
Bicycle Amphibious: should be NO
Bradley Amphibious: should be YES
Neither is a game-breaker, but every now and then I forget that the Bradley isn't amphibious in OFP:E and I drive it to my doom.

I was writing about the game locking up on me during Mutiplayer. I'm hosting a game and so far at different times it would lock up. I narrowed a few down. First day I got the game and we board the 5-ton, As the truck started rolling it locked up. During MP once when someone was connecting. And about three or four times now when I'm controlling my squad switching between the map and the game, it locks up. All I can say is Patch. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/help.gif

SAME THING HAPPENED to me. Just my wife was watching and I was bragging about this was my favor game on the PC and this is why I got the Xbox originally. And it locks up... I was the first day the game was released. Oh this will happen more when you go on Live.

Run down a cliff steep hill like the one in the Resistance mission where you have to ambush a soviet convoy at the beginning,anyway...go prone and then crawl a bit and try to get up,you sink into the cliff for a moment,not really an issue but interesting to look at,heh.

Your NVGs shouldn't work in the day time. Like the real deal. I've put them on in the game in the day time and it shows a green screen. Well the real deal would turn off or would just show white.

I believe you can get daytime filters for NVG's. The lenses look similar to what your science teacher used to look at the sun.

Maybe you can get the filters, but according to what the USMC use in 2000. They will shut off at sunlight levels. And the game is set back in 1980's. I'm thinking it might have been something different.

I just had my first lock up last night but it was kinda wierd. Was playing The begining of resistance with the "!!!" profile and skipping the cutscenes.. So I was driving along and it fades to black like it's gonna go to a little scene but it didn't and i could still drive around. All the sounds were still going but I had a black screan. Was like that for a little less than a minute then went to the cutscene. Wierd. Then I was doing something els and it faded to the black screen again and wouldnt come out. I was playing on the !!! profile to see if there was anything different since no one knows what that one does.
I have found that while playing the camel dogfights a funny bug occurs when the opposing force ejects from a plane about to be shot down.
Here is how it happens?
your about to shoot down an AI (I'm not sure this happens with just the AI this is just how I notice the proble) the AI ejects moments before he is about to be shot down. As soon as he ejects (this AI is on the opposing side) the other team gets this message (both voice and txt) "Pilot board(maybe get in) plane at 50 meters"
This is odd because first of all the AI is on the opposite team so I shouldn't hear the message and secondly the AI leader should not be directing the dude to get back into the now blown up vehicle.

A couple of times I would give a order for my team to a waypoint all but one would go. And once and a while a special op soilder on my team would use his glock(silence) instead of his primary though out the whole mission while others including myself are using are primary(silence mp5). Ok, a bit late, but I've found a couple of "bugs".
1 - It's not possible to change the combat mode as a squad leader. Wtf?
2 - Sometime you can end up lightly wounded, but you can't heal or use the "injured" command. So you have to "wound yourself some more" if you want to heal. Wtf?

Ha dont get me started on glitches and bugs. Here are some that you will find interusting.
Say if you are climbing up a radar tower and midway a tank hits it and knocks it down you will float in mid air.
Once in a great while I will have infinite tow missles of the bradly.
I will think of more later but those are the big ones.
Okey, one more I just came to think about. Again it's not really a bug;
It can look quite funny when waves sweap over certain places, ecpecially when the tide is high. It's hard to explain it, but it looks very unrealistic. In real life the wave would die at a certain point, but in Elite it will keep going until it hits higher elevation. Those who have seen it know what I mean. Hopefully it'll be fixed in ArmA.

The only problem I have is that im getting a 360 and theyre not planning to make an emulator for this game! Im trading my Xbox so I can get Oblivion so I wont be able to play OFP:E till they make the emulator!

Be realistic guys, no emulator is coming. The big (hahahahaha) march update had only 3(!) new games bc'd.
MS has disappointed me big time is this aspect.

Ok I got a very serious issue atm.
OFP:e is suddenly not booting anymore here. I just get the xbox screen with MS text on it and xbox freezes. Now I tried some things and only thing that currently works is to delete the entire OFP:e savegame from the HD in the "memory" section of the xbox dashboard. But since you'll have to restart everything this kinda sucks bad.
I don't know if it helps but I found the "logfile" called default.RPT .
I don't think it is my ofp:e dvd since it still in quite good order only some faint normal scratches (no deep ones) which you have on most dvds.

How old is your Xbox?
Have you tried other games?
If its a few years old and you play the hell out of it (Like i do) it might be your DVD Drive (I had to buy a new Xbox two year's ago because i had to replace my original Xbox's DVD Drive, At least ive got two Xbox's now lol) Other then that i dont no, Hope you can get the problem fixed soon http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Try using the xbox dashboard and deleting your profile. I;ve had this happen before for other reasons. How many save games do you have?

Before I had 14 savegames and since it last happened I just started on had 4 savegames. It seems you can fix it by deleting the profile and re-adding the savegame folders. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
