View Full Version : Things I've noticed
I've noticed it takes a long time to switch from map back to player mode. Is it just me or is this slow? That damn receiving box is highly annoying, what am I receiving ? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Helo's slide, trucks sometimes slide. I thought we fixed this along time ago. Where I've noticed this alot is in the MP mission Capture the Base "siberian base?" The helo over to the north of where you start is on a hill and as soon as the mission begins the helo starts sliding. I've noticed this also with jeeps although not as much.
The other thing thats higly annoying is when playing MP missions and your dead in the seagul and your teams are slowly being picked off, the mission ends where the players are in the seaguls but the last person just shot is stuck in a cut scene while the others are on the mission debreifing.
edit: Still love the game though http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

First you are downloading the mission, after wich you:
1. load the island
2. load the mission (Ie unpack, make it ready to play, etc)

You are loading textures and models which had to be discarded so that you can view map. In comparision to single player, game cannot pause while you are doing so, because the game goes on and you are receiving updates about other playes and sending updates about you and other units simulated on your xbox.
I assume that the amount of objects and textures in a OFP:E island are the highest ever in a xbox game so it's not strange that it might take long to load.
This is a common problem with many new games on the PC scene. The loading times are increasing. I guess if it continues like this we'll soon be back to the time of C-64's when you could go and have a cup of coffee and a biscuit, and once you returned the game had loaded.

This is not what we are talking about now. Loading times in OFP:E are very short, even compared to the PC version, mostly thanks to the completely overhauled object management (streaming + background loading).
What hoz was concerned about was the time the game needs to switch back from the map view when you use the map during the MP game.
Thanks for the info, I know not to check the map while I'm being shot at.

I wish the Opti-Match settings would be saved, so that they would be automatically set the next time I go to Opti-Match. A very small complaint, really.

i have one problem in the Bradley. when in the commanders seat, i can't look around to the left or to the right in both 1st and 3rd person view. i have to switch to the gunner's seat to be able to look around.

thats how it is on ofp pc I think? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/confused_o.gif
I think you can look around with the left trigger pulled in and then move the right thump stick.

I don't think you can even with the left trigger pulled as it's been tried and doesn't work. It's a bit frustrating.
Best way is just avoid the commanders position in the Bradley.
At least till some one comes up with a solution.

It would also be nice if you could make a Friends Request from the Statistics listings by highlighting a name and selecting them.
In the pc version you have to "turn out" to be able to look 360° in commander position (as far as I know).

I didn't try turning out actualy, probably as the enemy were shooting at us, I will however check that out. Thanks...
Cheers...
As far as we know, the Bradly commander turret cannot rotate in real life. You should be able to rotate in all other tanks / APCs though.

Suma, I've been experienced what might be a related issue. I can't seem to aim the gunner's station either side-to-side or up-and-down while the commander of the M2 Bradley is turned out. Is this the way the Bradley works in real-life? (I don't know...)
It only becomes an issue when the commander is A.I. and he can't respond to your request to turn in.

OK, sorry for the misinformation. I was playing the old Heavy Metal Mission recently and I thought the Bradley would be the same as the Abrams in terms of turning out in commander position. I tried the Bradley now and it doesn't work 360° for the commander.
On the PC Version you can go to Tactical View [NUM .] for a 360° view.
