View Full Version : Old OFP Xbox trailer
I found in our archives this April 2004 Operation Flashpoint for Xbox Trailer (23 MB) - never released (ftp://www.flashpoint1985.com/xb1985/1985cwf_trailer.wmv). Despite it shows the game at alpha stage it's worth seeing if you want to see how the game runs on Xbox.
It was never released due to some very complicated issues the game faced back then http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/banghead.gif

I'll grab it if for no other reason than I seem to hoard game videos. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Very well done, would have been a shame not to share it with the public, i say do a remake and put it on the website next to Placebo's movies http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif .

That's funny, Marek, because (at the risk of being psychoanalyzed) I dreamt last night that you were showing me some future generation of the OFP engine.
The weird thing was that we were IN the engine, or at least "residual self-images" (a la "The Matrix") were. ***First we were in some city and all of the lights were off, like a Hollywood movie set with no actors and no extras. ***Various lighting effects were playing across the buildings. ***Then you pointed out the heavenly special effects. ***Shooting stars and other unknown but spectacular celestial displays.
Then you wanted to add in some squad members or something and made some changes in the editor (which showed up in front of my face like a GUI). ***
The result was that we wound up in a snow-covered terrain. ***You got highly ticked-off and screamed the "F" word (I didn't expect you to have that kind of temper), but I just laughed, because to someone who hadn't seen the engine, the snow-covered terrain was impressive, looking very much like anything I saw in Alaska. ***You started stalking off with a submachinegun in each hand. ***
Then I woke up.
Who knows what you were going to do with those submachineguns. ***
Be kind to your team-members, Marek! ***Don't threaten them with submachineguns! *** ***http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rofl.gif
WOW! That trailer kicked-a55! I like the MP5SD sound and the high rate of fire it seemed to have. The talking troops were cool, too.

Anyway, I can't get this to download right and I have no idea why it just says cannot connect to remote server. This also seems to happen when I try to download the really really old version of OFP from the bistudio site. Any suggestions?
EDIT: Nevermind Firewall Issue, although it only seems to happen on the BIS server.

The shooting star effect was very realistic, so it was subtle. ***Nothing in yo' face.
Who knows? ***Maybe a future B.I. game will be so realistic that it will seem like you're in the game?
Sometimes I have deja vu when I experience things that I once dreamt.
In any case, OFP:E has been on my mind a lot, lately. ***Still don't have it here in the States, you know.
Yeah, I didn't see any issues present in that video...

Please edit your previous post rather than making a new post 1 minute later, it makes the forums look messy.
cool vid. With the black ops running around the buildings is that the AI or is it Multiplayer ?
I am about 99.99999% sure that is multiplayer because of the way they move.

am I the only one that is seeing a disturbing trend here?
The video was made by someone named Novak, and it had black ops(?) in action.
In US, a journalist named Novak wrote article about a covert CIA agent named Valerie Plame...

RalphWiggum, don't let the Matrix get to you, man. If the mail isn't addressed to you, don't open it. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/whistle.gif
Personally, I'd pay just to watch a whole machinima movie using the OFP engine and some professional-quality addons.
Thanks for digging this one up for us, Marek.
