Looks good, but the bloke shouting out orders sounds worse then current OFP, the way the sound changes so much but the other voice in the 1st move seemed to talk OK. The cursor seemed to go red when on an enemy which didn't seem very good also. Looks much imporved over OFP1 graphically, think even the antennenes on the Jeep were bouncing about.
EDIT: Looking at the movie again, the lightning seems better. When the guy with the weapon on his back moves about in the 3rd movie, the gun is lighted really well, with individual bits shining. I realise this is in PC OFP as well, but i dont think to the extent of Xbox OFP.

I agree about the voices. They are bit "lame". http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif
And it doesnt really sound as if they are talking via radio.
But the sound and graphics are amazing. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
I hope ArAs will be like this http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
EDIT: Im pretty sure that its possible to deactivate that red help thing in veteran mode.

Well... its hard to tell because the movies and pics are of a very low quality but the voices are very weird http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif , and crosshair autoaim is http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif too for me, i like the weapon sounds and the ruskie soldier models, the trees look better, atleast from close but it seemed to miss some of the bushes i like to hide in, i wouldnt trade it for my precious PC version and i also expected them to improve the looks of buildings and vehicals but i guess they did a good job considering the xbox low specs, i dont know if this game would have been capable of competing with xbox GR2 though, but we havent see enough of it to judge yet.
So far and with all honesty i cant say they have a winner in their hands, i expected some more drastic changes to this version.
Oh and the guy playing steal the car was a terrible shot, even with autoaim, i hope those were GS people and not Placebo http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif .
well there are two possibilites to see the vids http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/xmas_o.gif
a.) watch the stream (not required to be a paid member)
b.) the are cool tools like net transport (google), which can download streams ...
(how2: open stream page: right click - properties - path for download - copy paste - add this in net transport - you will get a html file - open that one with text editor - copy the mms link again into net transport - happy downloading http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif )
Looks good, but the bloke shouting out orders sounds worse then current OFP
I'd have to agree with you there, they will probably work on all that later down the line hopefully

Maybe i was wrong when i said it will be good on xbox http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif
This sounds good though http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif ( From Gamespot )
The copy of the game we have now seems relatively full-featured in that there are options to edit your personal profile, to enter the single-player campaign, to play single missions, and to enter system link and Xbox Live play, although we didn't explore these too much. (However, it's worth noting that even this far ahead of the game's launch, there's already downloadable content, and XBL scoreboards are up and running.)
But dont worry BI because i will still buy it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Hmm yea, in the second video the voices nearly sounds like a computer voice. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
looks good, but I must say the voice acting seems kinda crappy.
It seems like a giddy-surfer dude who is out on the beach, not an elite soldier who is in the midst of combat and seconds away from death while commanding a squad...its kinda cheesy. I do like the idea that the radios are gone though. I think though if you get too far from your squad it should automatically switch to radio...that would be a cool feature.

Hopefully Bohemia will spend some time tweaking the game for the console audience before it hits shelves. This article is bullshit, they treated the game like if it was counter-strike, i would have tought better than this from gamespot , its a simulation of War, its as close as you can be to being a real soldier ! if the player want to play counter strike they will buy counter strike.if they want intense war simulation, they will get flashpoint xbox. meaby you should send a game copy at other gamers site http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif

Yea the guy was talking like it should be Halo like or something. Its amazing how people cant deal with one shot on kill... or haveing REAL style of play in a REAL LIFE WAR SIM. The consol audience is a bunch of whinners... they all need there god like games where you take 345 rounds and are still kicking, or being able to run around jumping and still hit people from a 1000m. The writer of the gamespot article must never have played FP, and dosnt know his a** from a whole in the ground when it comes to the words WAR SIMULATION.

Cool bangs and booms, lots of shooting and killing is what the terrible world want. At least thats what gamespot thinks.
Quote[/b] ]However, fighting in and around buildings can be annoyingly difficult in the current version of the game, especially since you can take only three or four hits before you die, even on the game's standard "recruit" difficulty.
WTH... What did you expect from a realistic game?
What is annoyingly is the arcade mode you have in your head. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif
Quote[/b] ]Although your teammates and officers will attempt to give you bearings on enemies, by calling out the type of enemy, their distance, and their location, it can still be difficult to distinguish your enemies from the foliage and bushes that litter the areas around most houses, leading to some unfortunately quick deaths.

I absolutely HATE gamespot reviews and previews. I noticed that there is a trend with their staff to write things like they did in the ofp preview...they seem sometimes ignorant and kinda unprofessional, taking score away from game reviews for entirely stupid reasons. I find it very annoying, and thus look to ign or gamespy or reviews and previews.
But onto the point, the videos look amazing...some gripes are the m16 looks like a low-detail lod and the voices are shit (sorry BIS). I would like to see a good explanation on how the new interface and control works, which is something I have been curious about. From what it looks like you still have to scroll through the action menu which could get extremely annoying in a console game. Another thing is the character animation seemed really outdated. In addition to some of the old anims, when people talk they look like robots. With the technology available, would it not be too hard to give the characters some life and facial animation while talking?
One fear I have right now is a averagel console gamer is going to see outdated animation and people talking like robots, cheesy voice acting, cheesy animation, and will turned away to miss a great game. The game should be polished a little, IMO.
One thing am I curious to see is the new resistance. You see them briefly in one of the preview trailers, and they look cool...also the new AK should be nice.
almost all gamespot preview and review are stupid IMO, so as long as it keep those CS kids away i would be happy
anyway for now the thing i hated most is that radio, its
sucks, and the old one just worked way better then that
edit: the anime........well yes they didnt looks good http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/ghostface.gif
isn't it amazing, CWC scenes now featuring units with VBS heads ... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif ?
I agree the voice synthesizer needs some correcting, the "Oh no 2 is down" seems to come from two different people
in the "hatching out plans" video, did you notice the right guy's running anims seem to be different from the left guy's? He seems to carry more fat around the waist area. I wonder who acted out those movements IRL for motion capturing http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif
It's a pity the XBox version will prolly remain limited to the CWC settings. Some extra desert or jungle settings could easily attract thousands of other players. I think most addon makers would gladly sign the agreement to see their Afghanistan and Vietnam islands ported over to XBox.
some gripes are the m16 looks like a low-detail lod
There was a bug that crept in last minute before we burned the press CD's which meant that the weapons all displayed a lower LOD.
One of the voices is a placeholder, listening hard you may detect the subtle hint of a Dutch accent, we used one of our designers in recording the placeholder, other voices are WIP and will be tweaked to create a more natural flow to the speech.
The Gamespot screenshots seem quite low-res, certainly don't compare to the E3 screenshots we took ourself, perhaps time/technology limited them somewhat, but we greatly appreciate Gamespot providing such quite in depth coverage, hopefully that will continue in the coming weeks/months on other websites and in other magazines http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

I contacted the Gamespot reviewer about his article and here is his answer, explaining better why he thinks that the game is too difficult:
Quote[/b] ]Well, I apologize if you found the article disagreeable; I probably could've stated things more clearly. I don't have a problem with a game being difficult or realistic, but the problem with OFP on the Xbox is that the controls just feel really muddy at this point in the game's development. It's difficult to move around corners with precision, which
is what often winds up killing you while you're fighting in town. The problem with kills that result from lack of a tight controlset is that the kills often feel as though they come through no fault of your own; you just got killed because the controls wouldn't let you react in time to respond to the threat that was presented to you. This is more frustrating than challenging. Unfortunately console controllers just
aren't as precise or quick as a keyboard and mice, and games that come out on consoles, even ports of PC games, have to take this into account, and I'm not seeing that OFP is doing so beyond the autoaim.
That said, the game is still a few months away at least. If they can whip it into shape (and the graphics especially could use a lot of work) then it might turn out to be a decent choice for console gamers, but if you have a PC you'd probably be better off waiting for OFP 2, which looks like it'll be a lot better.
that doesn't make sense at all
it's very clear from the video that he is playing "Steal the car" like an absolute beginner, like myself on april 14, 2002. It took me some time to realize that this is a tactical shooter, I admit. Playing OFP involves scanning long-range horizons, making decisions, checking areas. You can't just walk up to the houses and hope that the enemy is scripted to fire only when you are in a comfortable position to react. It's weird to see that the enemy walks past him, it even seems that in the Xbox demo AI has been dumbed down a bit. On day 1 of my OFP experience, it was like bullets were coming out of the blue, it takes some time to notice that enemies are actually running around, anticipating your behaviour, taking positions, and then OFP becomes uniquely thrilling.

i don't think its a big concern. this could be fixed just by tweeking the sensitivity on the analog sticks which is a option usually available on most 3rd and 1st person games.

For me this will be the best xbox game by far and the reason i am getting http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif at some game sites is because they are not doing there job ie showing ofp xbox game to the gamers they rather show Halo 2 MP maps than a new game.
At the moment there is only one game i play on xbox live now and its Rainbow six: BA, so this is why i need ofp to hurry up and come out so to bring xbox live back to life http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
I know i do go on sometimes but its only cause i love this game. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

hey x flashpoint x you should try out ghost recon 2 on xbox live, that game is heavy on realism, maybe not as much as operation flashpoint but a hell of a lot more than rainbow 6

Also can someone tell me how close the mission editor in the xbox version of operation flashpoint will be to the pc version, will you be able to get similiar results?

http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rock.gif GR series is good but, with GR2 all realism is finish, only graphic is good!
http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif gr2 = arcade, not simulation!

That depends on the room you are in, if the settings are changed to first person only and no launched explosives then it becomes quite realistic, your welcome to join me in a GR2 room one night and i'll show you how good the game can be.

I was asked some questions about the mission editor on Official Xbox Magazine USA's forums, maybe the information there will be of interest.....

Woot woot! I knew you would find a Publisher fairly easily, any publisher not wanting to publish these games would be morons! Of course, we don't know yet, but I have more confidence in this than anythign else ATM.

Cheers placebo, much appreciated. I know whether or not a demo is released in official xbox magazine will have more to do with whichever publishers are chosen for the game, but is it in the developers minds for this to happen.
ps i have a friend who runs a xbox website called-x-Xbox Game Zone-x- which mostly caters for realistic shooters (ghost recon, black hawk down) who would be very interested in receiving a preview copy.

Looks good, im not really sure about the voices, they sound more like Robots then anything else. What i mean by that is the guy saying each word, either low or high after each other.
The sounds of the weapons i prefer in this also, they sound much more realistic.

as you sayd, they where in different "volume".. some higher than others..
in OFP they are perfect.. but i hope they redo some of the Xbox version for ArmA
edit: listen when he says. "Oh no, 2 is down" its like
OH no, 2 is DOWN http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif as sayd above. i hope thyey fix it for ArmA http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I think someone from BIS already said that the voice in the video was recorded only for that demo. It's a dutch guy iirc.

One of the voices is a placeholder, listening hard you may detect the subtle hint of a Dutch accent, we used one of our designers in recording the placeholder, other voices are WIP and will be tweaked to create a more natural flow to the speech.
