Also, will you be buying AA?
I think there will be a few left over players... but as you imagined, they will likely buy Armed Assault eventually...
Do you think OFP.info, and OFPEC and other awsome fansites will support Armed Assault? Or will they make completely new webpages for AA?

Well said, i agree as well.
I doubt i'll be getting AA anytime soon, because my computer isnt exactly to the high spex of the computers nowadays.
But i'll definatly get it, as well as "OFP2"
well i think everyone who still plays ofp and did so for the last few years will definately buy AA. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif and that's what i'll do.

im running VBS1 on a 2.8 1GB ram GF4 Ti4200 and AA looks very much like vbs.
Any way, i think that AA will replace OFP1, but many of the OFP1 things will survive in AA http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif

I doubt there will be many people moding OFP1 after AA comes out. That means there really will be no point sticking around it.
As all the old stuff is supposed to work with ArA it will be the same situation as with OFP:R - as soon as it's out most people will switch. I hear there are still some people playing OFP 1.46 - but the community as a whole will just move on.

I know people from other forums that don't even have Resistance yet, so I reckon OFP1 will live for quite a while yet http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

i agree
if its a stand alone product i think the situation would be similar to il2 sturmovik scene where they have il2FB , il2ACES(exp.) and pacific fighters (stand alone) which can be played on its own or installed as part of a merged install to get the benefit all all 5 disks worth of game.
the il2 comunity like ofp having a strong hardcore following, most of the servers online quickly changed to the merged install version and if you only had PF you'd be pretty hard pushed to find a decent game going online.
i think this could be good for BIS as we(OFP'ers) would all get AA and if its stand alone any newcomers to OFP scene will probably at some point see the need to get the back catalogue

I think nobody will play OPFR anymore, because ARAS will have all OPFR content (xcept RH, it sucked anyway) plus more and new oficial content on a improved, better looking and more optimised engine, backwards compatbility for current addons and MP JIP http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif , also better compatbility with current hardware (sound and graphic problems)..
I think we will get to know each other better in the MP battlefields too.
ARAS = dream come true http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif .

Ditto. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
Plus, I'm wondering, but taking into account the pix that demonstrated OFP1 working under AA engine, I think CWC and OFP:R will somehow be "integrateable" in AA, so probably CWC and OFP:R will never die. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Fuck OFP1 (do it gently though, it's been my pal for many years http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif ). Everything can be converted anyhow. So BIS say at least.

If AA is compatible with OFP1 missions (which I'm sure it will be) then Red Hammer can easily be played or converted. It probably won't come with AA though, RH is made by Codemasters, so you'll have to own it from before. I know at least the artillery scripts won't work since they don't even work with 1.96 right now. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
edit: Oh yeah, and it's better to forget about OFP. Games like OFP are not fine wines, they do not get better with age.

But RH actually sucked bad, i think BIS should (maybe they will?) make a real soviet campaign of the same quality standard of 1985 and resistance (ok, more like 1985 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif ).
I'dd rather play Retaliation campaign any day...
HOLY SHIT!
AA has join in progress
so screw OFP1

I don't think there is any other game that has that many addons and takes that amount of space http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
Which is actually good, and it also prove that OFPers are very creative. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

make completely new webpages for AA?
That's the course of action I will take at least.
Well, it won't be just for ArAs of course... rather for all games made by BIS.
The way I see it, if Codies push ahead with OFP 2 and a new developer I for one will not be a part of it. And then my current site (Flashpoint2source) will have a misleading name... so I have gotten myself a new domain, and will make a brand new site from scratch!
(You can check out this thread (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=13;t=46496) for more of my plans - I would very much want some input or feedback on this decision.)
What I will do with Flashpoint2source? Haven't decided yet... I will let it live for a while, and see what CM does with OFP 2... but if CM hires a new developer and makes a shitty game I will let the site die with the game... http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/sad_o.gif

You could wait until somebody wants the domain and then sell it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif
Or you could make a big banner that says "I don't support Codemasters", something like that.
Anyway, I thought that the domain name "flashpoint2source.com" was kind of cool. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I think what happend with OFP when OFPR was released will also happend to OFPR when AA have been released.
It won't be completely abandoned, but the majority will move on. Looking forward to something fresh and new on the OFP-front.
Hopefully its as backward-compatible as they say it is so all addons and missions can be copied over.

Just imagine this, if they have improved/optimised the engine so it can run Nogova on 777mhz and 64 mb ram with decent performance imagine how much of a improvement ARAS will be compared to OFP:R, now imagine all the original content will also be there, can you say no to this? I just know i want it now http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif .

i just wonder about other things.
will mods like invasion finish their stuff for resistance, or will they rework everything to get ArAs quality, will we anyway be able to reach ArAs with the existing tools for editing?
questions over questions
I started archiving addons and mod files the minute I heard about OFP2. I will always maintain an OFP:CWC -Resistance game folder.
OFP is a "simulation" that when compared with even the most modern military "game" can still hold it's own and beats them all when you start listing features. "New Features" listed in the johnny-come-lately games are standard in OFP:CWC since way back in 2000.

OFP1 will certainly die eventually, its only natural.
But that death will be a hole lot quicker and painless only if AA has all that OFP offers and more.
Too many unanswered questions at this point such as similarities/differences or even the unlikley event of compatability.
EDIT (sort of)
just read a bit more about AA and it states that it will support community mods, wich is unlikely to be anyone but us, but thats still an assumtion.
Seems AA is the 'next' OFP and they will realease a new game, presumably built ground up and not compatable a year after.
OFP DEATH DELAYED!!?? http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/rock.gif
