Hi, I have a problem. I have made terrain and added th textures of runway. When my aircroft takes off, I start autopilot, my aircroft doesnt land a runway but flies to left down part of the map (always) to land on sea, (there isnt the runway) Of course the aircroft explodes.
Thank you for your help.

Just having the runway textures on the island is not enough for AI and autopilot.

It also needs to be configured in the config.cpp for your island.

Take a look at the commented configs from BIS.

Search for "ILS". Also IIRC it only works for E-W runways, not N-S?

It only works on N to S not E-W.

You've been away too long mate http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Also sometimes tends not to work well if the textures aren't there either. Tried it one time and the runway was too short and didnt have the textures so the planes didn't have enough momentum to take off.

But since Im assuming you have textures that shouldn't be an issue. Just thought I would throw it out there.

...just make sure the texture names are longer than 8.3 eg:

runwayA01.pac
runwayA02.pac
runwayA03.pac
runwayA04.pac
etc

If you use anything less eg:

rw01.pac

OFP's game engine will treat it as another 'dirt' texture.

Actually you know.......I've placed an ILS direction and ILS position on a nice flatish piece of grass and managed to land with autopilot.

I don't know if it would work with an AI pilot though......I'll have to experiment.

Actually i wasnt especially clear was i...if you want the Game to reat the runway textures as a smooth surface you need to make sure it has more than 8 characters in the file name.

But it will work on any bit of flat ground.

The problem isn't landing the problem is the AI getting enough speed to take off. I think it was just because it was too short and not definded as a runway (I was using the forest texture from Res).
