wow, I was just about to say how great the new troops looked and then a view of the cannons! Great work!
Now whoever said that the CWMOD make low-quality or even average-looking units is invited to kiss my back.
Great work!
http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wow_o.gif please release it soon. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/xmas_o.gif
EDIT: By the way... are the cavalry sabres working now?
Nice screenshots! Great job. Cant wait to try them!

By the way... are the cavalry sabres working now?
We didn't do sabers, no.
I believe the Napoleonic mod have working sabers, but we stuck to the revolvers fired from the saddle for close up fighting...

it's a pity.

Hey everyone, I love playing this mod at lan partys and such over here, doing a great job.
Just had one question, will the "briefing taking the ammo off of soldiers with muskets" bug persist through the next version? Have you fixed that? Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I just wanted to check.
Thanks

@<hidden> BadAss
Sorry, but Pickett has retired from OFP.
Quite deservedly, as he has worked hard for this mod since its begining.
Now Bigus_Dikus and several other talented people are in charge of the missions.
@<hidden>
We have cheated the usual OFP 10 clip limit, by giving a man over 60 individual rounds, each reloaded separately, through several config twists. It works ingame mostly, but messes up briefing.
A safe bet is putting an ammo wagon in missions, and you can rearm there...

All the generals together:

Nice. Will they be able to use swords?

3 of the 6 were killed or wounded in action during the Civil War. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
But you are right, with the possible exception of Stuart, none of them fought personally. I'm just being a nerd anyway, dont take me seriously. The mod is outstanding and I cant wait for the new updates.

Well...actually I wouldn't mind swords one bit, but it does take a whole lot of modifying to make it look good.
1. What type of weapon would they be? Rifle or pistol? That would determine the set of anims they'd use for walking, standing, etc...and neither set looks too convincing for a sword...
2. Ok...just the sword attack anim shouldn't be a problem, but details such as...would the sword handle still be visible from the scabbard if a guy held the sword...
...so, after considering all the fuss for a rather minor improvement of the whole gameplay experience, I just didn't want to get into this. Of course if one of you wants to do it, feel welcome.
For a fighting general, such as J.E.B. Stuart, his favourite handpiece the LeMat revolver is available, and he knows how to use it http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif

Thanks for explaining. Didn't know if they fought upclose or not.

Here's a couple of rebels in coats.
First pair in regulation CSA coats, and second pair in captured Yankee coats, and pretty damn ragged too (something like the poor fellas of Hood's Tennessee campaign).
http://www.petrov-petrov.si/~triglav/CW/Coats.jpg
Shoe detail from the ragged rebels:
http://www.petrov-petrov.si/~triglav/CW/Shoe.gif
Anyway...you've got a couple more days to come up with any uniform requests or suggestions you'd like to see (that don't take too long to make, or would delay the release...)
Poor rebels, broken shoes and cold weather = not nice, not nice at all. Luckily, dead yanks don't need their boots so...
merry christmas,
is this still getting released b4 christmas>http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif?http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/huh.gif

Well, on my behalf everything is ready, I have nothing to add, but I am still waiting for final products from a couple of contributors. I'll wait till the last moment, but otherwise should release it sometimes these days (as 'before christmas' didn't mean 'before christmas 2006'http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif...

Hey fellow soldiers!
I wish you a merry christmas! Keep up the wonderful work - looking great so far!
Yours,
Longstreet
P.S.: I was wondering are some of the maps (f.e. Gettysburg)getting redone too? Just to get rid of 'em "new style" houses (with TV sets and stuff) in there and some trees and bushes still hanging in the air (f.e. on Little Round Top). I've even seen some grass stuff that is looking good while roaming around - would be a nice touch to add making the environment even better looking). Ah well just a few thoughts here ;)
Don't worry, you still have 11 hours for the release in my timezone!

Yeah guys...sorry for the delay...but there's a bunch of small details to do when you're releasing stuff...
README files (which noone reads anyway http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif ),
updating the CWMOD page with new pictures and descriptions (which noone reads either),
packaging, folder fixing, last minute fixes (though I'm sure the moment when we release I'll be flooded with bug report mails...), etc.
Anyway...last year we worked hard to get it out by Christmas, but it ended up coming out on December 28th.
I'll do my best to be before that date this time, but as I also have friends & family Christmas obligations I cannot spend 10 hours daily working on this...
I'm sure you understand.
Merry Christmas to you all! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/xmas_o.gif

WHAT? You're not working over christmas? Friends and family? Huh? Your best friend is Oxygen, stick to it!
http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif
Ah well, merry chistmas. As long as you'll include the classnames of the guns and units in the readme, me is happy. And oh yes, I'm too lazy to un-pbo the mod and check it out myself.
Triglav
Dec 25 2005, 20:08
Oh man...adding all the class names for all the men and weapons and ammo will take me another couple of days work...but I can see why this could be useful for mission makers.

Dec 26 2005, 16:57
Sorry, this might be asked before, but I don't want to check over 100 pages, so will there be a new campaign or continuation to the old campaign in new version?
Triglav
Dec 26 2005, 17:10
Right now it's not there, sorry.
Pickett who made G'burg Day 1 has retired from OFP.
When v.1.2 is out, y'all are welcome to make missions and campaigns and put them up for people to use.
Laahustaja
Dec 26 2005, 17:36
That's a pity but I understand. I'll also hope that there will be lots of campaigns and missions for this great mod! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
...err sure, but are you yellow-livered scums able to hold a yank brigade alone with a revolver?
Triglav
Dec 26 2005, 19:55

I'm able to hold them with a toothbrush! A used one too! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge2.gif

There are missions for the Chickamauga Island. And when the new stuff comes out I will make more. I may even start a whole campaign for the area battles, don't know yet. and the reason I made the Chickamauga area my family fought and some died in the battle and I know every inch of the battlefield because I have been there many times and lived up the road from there.

Our website has already been more or less updated with the new stuff.
Go check out and read up a bit on the Units in the Addons section, the Weapons, the Artillery.
I've put weapon and ammo classnames in there, but don't have time to put unit classnames, there's simply too many of them...
Also lots of useful info int here on how to use bayonets, how to make cannons fire cannister, etc.
Well the units' classnames aren't really as important as the ones of weapons (and the script inits too), but they'd be nice for scripters I bet.
OH MY DEAREST GOD, I went to the downloads page and saw a nice red text "Click 'ere to download" and almost got a heartattack, then noticed it was not a link... Argh!
Well thanks for the classnames, and a headache for lookin' at those new guns.
Thats a lot of units. Cant wait till release.
bigus_dikus
Dec 27 2005, 21:23
Umm.... I thought the bayonet was no longer scripted?
or am I wrong?
bigus
Triglav
Dec 28 2005, 06:13
The use is not scripted.
Fixing it is.
So the laggy soldier-looks-for-enemy-to-attack script, multiplied by the number of soldiers in a battle, is no longer slowing up gameplay.
BTW...CWMOD v.1.2 has been sent to OFP.info tonight.
Expect it posted there anytime now, which will effectively mean it's released.
