View Full Version : CONSOLE CRAZY...
Man i havent been on this forum in ages!
I just wanna say this; With Console games, graphics matter!!!
I'm working at GAME at the mo, and i see the people who buy console games... Morons. Trust me on this, If Flashpoints (XBOX) Graphics are not good compared to the compition, then this game will sink like a rock!! These people are idiots, good graphics are the only thing that matters to the majority of them... They'll see the graphics and go 'Shit' and bring it back; because most of them havent the patience to scratch deeper and appreciate the huge open landscapes that lend themsleves to one of the most NON LINEAR gaming experiences they will ever have...
-I had heard that BOHEMIA were totally redesigning the engine for xbox, but i have heard that it has been scraped now?? Is that true, and if so why, and if true- why has it taken so damn long to port to xbox?
-Also is the Xbox version going to have all the expansion packs?
Also I'll say to BOHEMIA- I own all the Flashpoint Campaigns for PC, and being that it was the first game i bought for my PC
years ago and i still play it and love it to death-- Please do a good job in porting it to xbox-- and please dont go the RAINBOW 6 route! Did anyone play that sucker?! the developers thought they new what 'Console Gamers' Wanted, they changed the whole basic idea of what was good in the game-- and u ended up with a boring game that was more linear than MOH!!
Please do a good job becease my only gripe with Flashpoint is that my pc could never run every level SMOOOTH... i have to turn the graphics down, and i hate that!! With XBOX SLOWDOWN should be a thing of the past...

BIS does'nt look at things competition wise. Only the community does.
Quote[/b] ]then this game will sink like a rock
Never.

Yes they did redesign it. XBox contains a few little bits of the OFP2 engine inside. No, if you heard it was scrapped, it's a rumor (and never believe them until BIS makes an announcement about it)
It took such a long time to port to Xbox, because obviously porting is not as simple as one may think. While I don't know the technical details, I could imagine creating a huge battle enviorment on a console was a big challenge. I don't think BIS gives a crap about how long it takes them to make a game.

Yup, but not the Red Hammer campaign. Everything else will be there.

They already did ;)

never will

yes I did

The way I see it:
-Porting the game to Xbox without and graphic improvements may worry people of slow down
-But they made graphics improvements, meaning XBox had more than enough power to handle the game at even better graphics.
So no worries on a crappy game. Just get used to not having custom addons to download http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

@<hidden> We know none of that. We can only speculate until the day some of us get around to sampling.
@<hidden>: Your partially right, but only partially. Consoles have been around a long time. Graphics alone do not define what all console gamers will and will not tolerate. Nothing can.
Also, as far as I know, in most stores, "Shit graphics" does not pass an acceptable excuse for the return of a console game. Besides, they're not that bad to begin with. If the texture and model quality gets beefed up to resistance standards across the board (islands). There's not alot to complain about. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Well it's obvious NO publisher would dare publish a crappy bugged, choppy slow, horrible setup game. Unless of course your the publisher of Gods and Generals.
WHICH IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!! EVER!!!

Sure we can only speculate. But I look at it this way =
If it's BIS, NOTHING can go wrong.
WOW! That guy registered July 2001. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif

I'll feel rather betrayed and disappointed by BIS, silly as that sounds if "Making a good conversion" entails giving the shitbox version, features that current OFP players would really want.
I don't mean graphics. Graphics wise, if you have a powerful enough pc the visuals do the job.
I'm talking about gameplay/engine limitations.
All I know is I'd have to supress a strong urge to firebomb the BIS offices if I see/hear about OFP: Shitbox having features like multiple turrets, or the ability to shoot from cargo proxies with your guns when the PC version doesn't have them.
Or screwing PC gamers over with OFP 2 by trying to make it as cross-platform compatible as possible and inadvertantly making the game horribly inefficient at resource usage/allocation on the PC like *coughmorrowindcough*
That's just my opinion however.

What's wrong with giving them more? It's a newer engine, so they'll have less limitations. The thing we'll still own them on is community addons, I dont think the Xbox version will support them and I dont think it'd be all that practical either as the hard drive tends only to cache things that aren't game saves or mp3's you've ripped to it.
If anything, It'd be nice to have a new official addon pack which if nothing else just beefs up the old models and textures like Res did, only to a higher standard like we've come to know and love from most recent unofficial addons. Oh and maybe some new engaging missions for single and multiplayer.
He has a point about console gamers mind you, they tend to go for games with "uber graphics" and crappy gameplay (cougheagames). Why do you think such games are high in the charts?
