Longhorn should be release LONG (I think late 2005) after OFP2 is released.
Besides games that was made for Windows 95 could be played on Windows ME too, so I don't think that should be a problem.
EDIT: Linux and Mac is another story.

Have you thought this through? I don't think Longhorn will be incompatible with everything released six months before it?
edit: Woot my postcount is the year I was born, 1987 http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif Not long to 2000, like it matters anyway. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif

will it be windows longhorn compatible?
Q: Will my current applications still work with Longhorn?
A: Yes. Microsoft has even pledged to retain DOS compatibility with Longhorn, though it's currently unclear whether DOS support will be improved over what's available today in Windows XP.
Also, ther is already beta versions of it out today. So developing ofp2 "for" Longhorn wouldn't be an impossibility. However, I do not see any reason to do so.

I think Longhorn has been pushed back to 2006 so Microsoft can put more time into their feeble effort to secure Windows XP.
