It's a long time since a had a look at OFP2 website.
It looks like the context and time of the game have changed from the sixties to the modern days US army liberating the world by killing civilians under tons of bombs in the name of freedom and the greatness of the USA... (at least, this is the impression given by the website)

I'm not sure it is such a good idea to switch to modern day US army...

I'm pretty sure that a lot of peoples (myself included) will not care a dime for playing the part of a modern US special force.
How in the world should I be willing to play the role of an US soldier freeing the world by kicking the ass of thoses supposed to be liberated? Well, if I'm an american, I would be probably most happy to play such a part. But the fact is that a large part of the world is not american yet (myself included) and as such, don't care a dime about America (unless being under a rain of B-52's bombs)
Please, tell me that OFP2 will not be such a game as the one I'm seeing through OFP2 website. A lot of peoples (myself included ***http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif ) don't want this kind of game, that should be designed for an US audience. America rules the world through terror and murder, everyone can see that since the collapse of the Eastern Block, but I don't believe in a game allowing us only to play the part of the U.S. aggressors.
At least allow us to play in the camp of the oppressed (I mean the peoples being oppressed by the US military), so that we can have a game that could be at least moral from each point of view:

-Give the US players the possibility to play the part of the US army to thoses who want to free the world in the name of american liberty.

-Give the other players the possibility to fight against the oppression of US imperialism and will of hegemonia.

This way, everyone would be happy in both camps, and everything will be for the best in the best of worlds.

mmmhhh... Or perhaps this is a scheme from BIS to motivate the 3rd party designers to create their own game content in order to free ourselves of the US domination in the game? ***http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
Look at Cold War Crisis: we could play only the americans, and this was such a great frustration for the non-U.S. players. And this frustration is the reason why so many peoples wanted to create new addons, as soon as tools became available. This is this frustration that gave the thrust for all theses new addons to be created, and this is all theses new addons that made the success of OFP for such a long time. Where it not for all the addons released, OFP would be dead a long time ago.
So, that's it... I can see clearly why OFP2 looks like it is going to be a game about US special forces. It is only to ensure it's success by generating even more frustration in the hearts of the addons makers and players that want something else than playing the part of the lackeys of Bush administration. ***http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

Well, let's go back to work, addon creators... We have already started to free ourselves of the U.S. domination in OFP, and we'll have to do the same thing again for OFP2. Of course, we'll start playing the part of Bush lackeys in OFP2, even if it's painfull to us, untill we have the possibility of choice given to us again by our own work.
This is a pity that the game devellopers don't want to give us the choice in the first place, and that we'll have to create our own game content in order to get the game we want.

At least, let's expect that a lot of the bugs that are in OFP will be corrected in OFP2, so that us, addon makers, will have more freedom to create the game we wanted and that BIS denied us so far for ... marketing reasons ?

OK, I finished my speech. Now it is time for the Bush lackeys to start a war against me as I'm a free man that want to be free outside of american grasp.

God bless the non U.S. dominated world ! ***http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
