View Full Version : Red Hammer
Was wondering if they were going to make existing game owners pay for this, or if it would be downloadable...

1.30 includes all the addons needed to play the Red Hammer Campaign.
I'm assuming that Red Hammer simply consists of one new campaign PBO file in the CAMPAIGNS subdirectory.

Well, I think they're doing things the right way, giving away new units and charging for the new campaign... new units are good, but they're not much use without missions to use them in, so I'm happy to pay a few quid for a professionally produced campaign to go with them (assuming it is up to the standard of the original campaign, of course).

So what we need is someone who is a legitimate owner and who's willing to put the .pbo-file online...or not, whatever floats your boat.

But please note that by this you would violate copyright law. We're not creators of Red Hammer here at BI Studio but the people from Codemasters that created the campaign want you to pay for it. If you don't want to play it, don't buy it - it seems to be pretty simple, isn't it? At the end, 5 GBP for downloadable version and 10 GBP for this, CD will all upgrades together and 64 page strategy guide from Prima seems to be good deal to me (but if you don't want it - just stay with all the free content we released for you last couple of months).

The download will be available in a few days I think. That's what I've heard anyway.

I DO get your point about the copyright and the price isn't bad but it's more of a principle-thingie here. We paid a good some for a game that turned out to rather beta on release. The patches were good and are really appreciated but it's the least you could do to prevent the communicty from switching to games that do have straight A netcode and fewer bugs.
The efforts on your part however are considerable and therefor I won't download anything that could commercially harm the companies involved.
Just try to see it from our side

Yes, but you do get what you paid for; they're not charging for the addons and patches, only for the extra campaign which was never a part of the original game. People don't complain about paying extra for new single-player campaigns for other games like Half-Life, so why should OFP be any different?
Oh don't be so cheap. What you're basically saying is:
"I've had months of enjoyment from Flashpoint and now another company is releasing another campaign I feel I should get it for free - and if I can't can someone who paid for it give me the files"
Well no sorry. I'm gonna buy it and I felt so embarresed when I saw that you had asked someone to post the files (in the official forum no less) and one of the games makers had had to read that.
I bought the game on day 1 of the European release and have NEVER been unhappy with it and whilst it did and still does have bugs I've never really considered it 'beta'.
Personally I'm amazed by the amount of free addons and direct support from bis. Be grateful for a great game and look forward to getting 30 campaign missions and all the patches and a strategy guide for a mere Ł10.
