I can't take it anymore! The intimidation by Bohemia and Codemasters! They go to work everyday but haven't told us anything about the SDK! Come on! I have spent about an hour looking for program or any other content related to editor Operation Flashpoint and I am going insane!
All I am asking for is a little news. Oh and could you update your site at least once a month? It has been over 3 months since any updates.
Now I don't mean to whine, but my appetite for the SDK is now my hunger!

A question answered by a question. Thats BIS to us http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard3/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Still need news on modkit.
Devil calm down.
You will spend all this time howling for info on a SDK and you might get a reply like this from BIS.
"There will be no SDK"
Then you will die of a heart attack.

In an interview we did with Viktor Bocan a while back he basically said there would never be an SDK as such, just alot of help files and small tools BIS have used to prepare models and maps.

I dont think BIS will give up the SDK as long as add-ons and extras will continue to make them money, as OFP is still hot property. Fair play to them.

After 4 years + making the game I wouldnt put out the tools for free so everyone can change it. Like they say just look what you can do in the editor eg campaigns etc.

Its torture from a modders point of view though :-)
A model import/export plugin for max wouldnt hurt for now...
if no SDK, I want WSS plugin/converter and PolyView or whatever they call it http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard3/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Questions assuming we dont get an SDK:
WHY would we need help files? And if so, for what use?
WHY would we need to PREPARE models and maps? We need to MAKE them. And to do that we need an SDK!
They will release the SDK when we all start spelling Czeck correctly in our whine posts http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard3/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seriously, I respect their wish to not give away the secrets of their masterpiece at such an early time. However, if they do plan on releasing a model and terrain editor, or converter, which they have implied they would, then I will be content with that, and would very much like to hear when we could expect it.
That way, at least the mod guys who already have a lot of work vested into models, can keep working knowing that it is all not in vain.

They avoid the subject a bit, don't they.
There are no news about SDK. We are still to busy with patches and general documentation to be able to think about releasing modelling and other tools soon.
We cannot not release any "model import/export plugin", as we do not have any.

Nobody. We did not use 3DStudio MAX for modelling.
They used a self-made program for it. Which most likely cost them allot of time and money to develop. Why should they just hand their hard work over for free? Mb like Unreal Tournaments level editor... put it on the game cd and charge extra.... just a thought

Good idea. The problem is that I believe its to late for that... But I would have gladly paid double expansion price if it had the tools on it. Think on all the money BIS and CM will not get now...

taken from the ofpeditingcenter Forum post by m79 , i think it's a great idea : "What if we nominate someone who is a well respected in the OFP communite , who also has contact with BIS , to submit a list of the most
asked for addons. We have a couple of people(I will nominate myself as one) put together the list from the players to give to the spokeperson and then He/She sends it into BIS. We would then have a clear channel to BIS and we would also find out what the chances are of us ever seeing the units/weapons in
an upgrade.
We could have say the 10 most popular units and 10 most popular weapons/systems made up from the submissions of the community. 1 list per player of say no more then 15-20 items.
At least this way there would be a list that would be the most popular wishes and we could see if it could go somewhere with BIS."
Exocet, that may give us some addons that we would like, but imagine if there wasn't a mission editor. We all know the freedom of it, and that is what we want in the models and terrain. Not because we imagine it could be cool, but we HAVE had it in other games. Games that have nothing like the possibilities of OFP. Getting 10 addons more will do nothing to quell the hunger of the community.
This game is about freedom, it's in the gameplay, it's in the mission editor. Not being able to have all the freedom it offers, is simply driving the creative minds among us, bonkers!
I for one would pay for these tools, and I know many would. Has BIS considered this option?

Voting wouldnt work because idiot population is so big.
Though if voting would be done from certain preselected group of units which would have been chosen by somewhat reasonable people.

interview with MArek Spanel:
.....There's no final plan's about the SDK - we will consider what tools to reveal to the community and how to best to it.....
Marek Spanel think:
Red Hammer = u$s......... house editor
blue screwdriver =u$s........... tutorial "how create a new sound"
yellow cutter = u$s........ animated gif editor...
Me, as a lot of fans, I´m able to pay for an expansion with new foreign units, but not for new misions with the same units.I can create new misions,i can download a new misions from internet totally free, why should we pay for an expansion with misions like the ones I make?

if most of the people that buy the game is stupid, so it´s a game for stupids, and stupids are the people who make BIS to earn a lot of money, not you!
"General documentation" about what? Can you be more specific?
You can also sell "SDK" (don’t know how you guys call it) thru Internet, or your site as download, like you did with “red hummer”. I sure there will be a lot of peoples who will buy it.

I think that voting system might work if only certain people are allowed to vote. For example only admins of OFP web-sites or moderators of big forums
As long as they just ignore all of this
'I want a Huey' and 'I want another helicopter for the West side that adds absolutely no new dimension to the game but it would be cool for my specops' or 'give us xxx new US vehicle because the Russian counterpart is more powerful' kind of shyte
what we need, as I have said a hundred million times before, is something that adds a new element of gameplay to OFP, such as fortresses and bunkers (so that we can have a decent defend/assault mission) or artillery or sidearms (last two are not ideas I particularly care for but think are good ideas for the reasons above) so THINK ABOUT IT all of you idiots of the OFP community
Maybe people want those extra weapons and vehicles so they can make realistic missions. Just because they don't fit with the original Op Flashpoint game doesn't mean they aren't useful for home-made missions.

why does everyone want the SDK so badly???
try and go to another games offical forum and ask for their offical tools so you could "re-design" their game

Alright, Bohemia site is OK.
But I mean, at least post some real game screenshots! Not beta shots. I'm not whining or demanding, I'm just saying that it's pretty strange to see this on the Codemasters site:
http://www.codemasters.com/flashpoint/tactical/shots/boats/russian.jpg
The interview with some Codemasters executive means nothing since CM didn't really do any work on the game, just published it.
Another thing, is I wish Bohemia would provide more support for the ever-growing fan community, such as perhaps an addons site or ANY kind of tools! Just anything you have lying around.
Furthermore, I like how your site is designed, it's very original, but update screenshots, please http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard3/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Also, why don't you answer some popular questions, such as what happened to the LST?
To busy creating lots of goody's for me and my missions which i never release cause i have no web space.
I guess they must be very busy working on the next patch (which everyone wants not just a minority).
Most dev. teams are only just in double figures so it's not like they're likely to have spare man hours.
It can be frustrating waiting for editing addons (how long was it before the editor button on their website worked!) but give it time and I'm sure it will all come together.
oh and about the lst, I'd like a FULL FAQ explaining all the little things like the lst, no side arms, the throw weapon command, etc... Just to clear them up once and for all.

I'm not saying I'm leaving the foumrs.. and I'm not saying I'm abandoning OFP... I'm saying... Ah, screw it, i don't even know what I'm saying anymore.. lol!

Man what a bunch of whiners. No wonder they dont replay who would want to.
Yes i too would like to see an SDK.
What i would like more is improved net code and more bug fixes. an SDK wont do any good unless peoble quit falling out of thier choppers for no reason.
And quit whining if they telease SDK Awesome. If they dont there is still a ton of untapped potential.

Hmmm, if they can't release a P3D Exporter well we should stop saying that we want an SDK, they won't be any =(.
Im using 3DsMax4 and I've found an exporter (p3d) for Max 3. So, I may try to export models but why would I buy an older version of 3DsMax .... ??
Hey I know this isnt the right place to tlak about this, but umm if they never release teh SDk, im almost 100% there are ways aroundit, or am i uncorrect.
