I agree with that to a point. In NAM with all the brush and crap there a jumb feature could be very useful for a hasty extraction. Since in NAM most Soldiers could jump because they weren't always lugging around gobs of equipment.

Been suggested before.

If jumping was to be added I hope there are limits... ie if you are tired you cannot jump... plus do not allow non-stop juming to avoid being shot ect. It would be better to leave jumping out all together. It might be worth to add faster "lay down" and "stand up " animations. The ones at the moment a too slow. If you were being shot at and had to lay down you don't take you sweet time doing it.

Let people jump, but land in the prone position. Stops the rapid jumping, and still gives you a chance to get out of harms way quickly.

What we really need is vaulting, to allow you to clear low obsticals, such as low walls, fences, and such.

But it must be limited by the amount of kit you are carrying - more kit, less able to jump. Also, the vault would have to be "charged up" so, as in real life, you would have to take a short run-up (like 5 or 6 paces) before it would be effective. This way it stops the lame cheaters, and adds more realism to the game http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

yes, as long as you have to run beforehand or charge it up or something.

Could have jumping increase your exhaustion, and wear down as you get more exhausted... like if you just ran a click and tried to jump, you wouldn't get as much jump as if you were fresh from the get go...

It is not unrealistic to be able to jump.  Just need things (like the ones mentioned above) to discourage it.  If you get knackered like you do in real life and also can't aim straight no problem.

For me though I think Vietcong had it right with the ability to step over or vault (as mentioned above) logs and similar.  Fortunately in OFP1 the maps were designed so jumping was unnecessary but those damn Ghost Recon and Raven Shield games just taunt you with low obstacles.

Not sure if I actually added anything new there http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif

What about climbing like in Rouge Spear, where you could clear low obsatcles. I liked that, but of course they took it out of Raven Shield http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/mad_o.gif . So what you do is walk up to an object and either climb it or jump it, climbing would be quieter and better for spec ops missions, but you would have to sling your gun. Jumping would be quicker, but people around you would hear you and it would tire you more than climbing.

i would also prefer that kind of jumping, it keeps the game realistic.
