E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) Will be going on from 14 - 16 of may. I thought we could use
this topic to discuss and gather all the information we can find, particularly about OFP2. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Codemasters will trail Operation Flashpoint 2 at its E3 booth (#746, South Hall)

According to one gaming site only the Xbox version of OFP has been shown on the booth this far. It was supposed to have had some improvements that OFP2 has added into it but to me it looked worse than resistance. Flat ground, etc.

I was briefly at E3 and I heard that a video was shown for Flashpoint 2, but I did not see it. At the CM booth, everything seemed to be about American Idol - big, big line to even get close to the booth. I didn't have the time. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

But I did get to see the new US Army Stryker ICV out front, as well as a rocket-launching robot. They were cool. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It seems that "Gamestar", a german PC Magazine interviewed Marek Spanel a few hours ago in LA - here are the infos. Source (http://www.gamestar.de/news/pc-spiele/action/12625/).

I try to translate http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Operation Flashpoint 2: Informations
A playable version ofp OFP 2 wasn't shown on the E3. Instead of this fact, Marek Spanel talked to us about the following details of OFP 2: OFP 2 featuring 2 campaigns: in the 1st you will play an american GI who will fight first in Vietnam, later in Africa - campaign's primary goal will be the action. The theme of the 2nd campaign will be an invasion of Jugoslavia - campaign's playing goals here are more the tactics and roleplay elements....For the OFP-modding-scene BIS will release early enough tools so that them can rebuild scenarios in vietnam, africa and central europe. Only a "remastered" Graphic Engine will be used in OFP 2.

here the original in German.

Operation Flashpoint 2: Infos

May 16 2003, 13:06
guys, open up malden and compare it to Nogova. The difference between OFP2 and OFP1 will be much more than that. I recall Marek making statements that they were going to be working on use of pixel-shaders and would improve water rendering. You can bet these guys have a few tricks up their sleeve.

The most important part of an engine is the gaemplay. OFP1 had that almost completly setteled, aside from clipping and water. I'm sure they will dramatically improve that.

I dont think the UN were in Yugoslavia in the 70's, infact, i dont think there was an invasion of Yugoslavia in the 70's, so its probably a ficticious campaign, I just hope we get to play as the Ruskies, playing as small resistance-type militia gets boring after a while...

Ficticious campaigns...i would appreciate that (how it was in OFP). BIS has other things to do as scrolling history books forward and backward to don't miss anything who really happened in history etc.

I'm sure that BIS will find a good solution to improve the technical details of OFP 1 and Resistance....let's hope to see the first screenshots during this summer.

I think Yugoslavia was one of the more neutral countries during the Cold War - not quite free, but not quite behind the Iron Curtain. I know for a fact that there were Soviet warplans dealing with an invasion of Yugoslavia.

anyways, in ofp.info interview, Marek stated that screenshots will be available in summer. so i guess they will focus on Xbox for now, and improve from it too.

Rugby is great to watch but slightly insane.

In Rugby season i cannot count the times where we get called out to fly some bashed up player to hospital with critical injuries. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

But i have to admit they are a nice way of getting flight hours, not exactly trying to hover over a pinnacle in 13 knot winds (we are not stupid and fly a crosswind, always head into the wind). We just come in, hardly have to do a wind gauge and put it in on a square mile of flat grass, pickup the guy, rev the engines to impress the croud, and swoop out looking cool!

For some reason i'm ranting about how cool rugby injuries are http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif
