*cough* have you all forgotten? *cough*

You get up to a silly fence and then what? Blow it up with a nade when you're on a stealth mission? Ugh! http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

We need wire cutters and the ability of AI to follow through such narrow openings. The latter is a general AI problem with OFP.

While we're at it, how about electrified fences and electronic sensored fences that detect contact?

year that would be cool then then need for enginers would be big.

Why are engineers even there? They're just normal soldiers who have a different name!

Great idea. These are the kind of details that would make OFP2 even more legendary than the first part.

engineers in OFP1 have mines, thats how they differ to normal soldiers.

The way we interact in the opf worlds aint the best, we cant shoot and destroy objects, bullet holes dont show on walls, trees, etc, i dunno if this can be implemented and it would kinda feel SWAT3/Splinter cell kinda feature, ya know tactical cqb http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif .

Great Idea Avon http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Just to add to it: i think we should also have security cameras
at let's say the checkpoints http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif that way if you don't take out the camera on a stealth mission and the guards who are watching see you they will send troops to the checkpoint to take you out! http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

No one's stopping you from making great engineer missions. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Wirecutters are appropriate for anything from the average Joe to saboteurs.

Indeed, tools like wire cutters would be great. Especially on proper maps when the objective has security fencing (barbed wire) all the way round the perimeter (unlike the airfields on Malden and Everon)

It would add a new dimension to the game, as who wants to charge up to the main gate all the time??

Wire cutters would be a great feature, as the thicker the fence or the more barbed wire it has the longer it takes to cut through. That way you would have to do "proper" black ops missions, not just blasting in rambo style.

Another thing that could be useful is lockable doors, that way we might be able to use the MasterKey for its intended purpose http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Let the engineer run ahead and if he gets blown into orbit, its pretty certain that you found the minefield! Is this not how you're supposed to do it? http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I like that idea avon. I bet the electric fence part could be scripted by one of us.

I think (maybe someone said this) there should be a normal fence but once its cut the enemey is alerted to that part of the fence. Perhaps this too could be done by scripting.

I will like an ai engineer unit to put up fences, make trenches, built bridges/bunkers/towers/roadblocks etc ,ingame. that will be cool for CTI type missions.

And they are also able to disarm the mines and pick them up
They also have binoculars by the way...

Bangalores would by the way be a nice option for opening a barbed wire obstacle.

Come to think of it, the M9 Bayonet, coupled with its scabbard, makes a wire-cutter!

Uziyahu--IDF
Jun 9 2003, 04:06
M9 Bayonet (http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-Product%20Spec?ONM9,)

The hole in the blade is looped around the peg near the bottom of the scabbard and wire is placed in "lip". Blade + Scabbard then are used like scissors, severing the strand of wire.

Sad thing is that the M9 Bayonet pretty much was issued hand-in-hand with the M16A2, fielded around 1985 or so. M16A1's had the older Vietnam-style bayonet. I'm not sure if those double as wire-cutters.
