View Full Version : More powerful cinematic controls

The most annoying part for doing cutscenes is the lack of hight depth customization of cinematic scenes.  Even if you script your own, most tend to be very BUGGY and don't provide smooth transitions in camera scenes.

I think OFP 2 needs some sort of advance program or feature to handle cinematic functions.  Something simple enough for the very novice user to make cutscenes, yet powerful enough to do Official style cutscenes.

Maybe make program with a 3D environment that uses icons or example 3D objects to show what is being done through the timeline for the cutscene.  It knows how to account for Triggers and waypoints affecting the cutscene.  It's just a hollow environment that allows users to add and take away stuff for cutscenes, then see the result play out in the test environment.

It would eliminate the need for opening OFP all the time and having to switch to desktop and opening a text editor every time it doesn't work right or if you forgot something, plus it would allow manipulation of certain effects into the camera scene.

Anyways, this would make OFP mission makers a lot more involved and confident of adding cutscenes that actually don't involve about only 10 or 12 bland cutscenes that can't do very much.

That's my take on it....

I think you should be able to place and name cameras in the editor and then have a box where you enter camera location, height, target, camera type etc.. Like changing the settings on a trigger or waypoint in the editor now.

Also, we need camera waypoints. You could script the movement of the camera, and customize the speed of the movement.

This would make camera scripting a hell of a lot easier.

You already can do this but only via scripting

Yeah< I know, I use dots now, but if we are suggesting improvements to the editor, then I think cameras should be added specifically.
