View Full Version : Wind
"The Partisan"
When they poured across the border
I was cautioned to surrender,
this I could not do;
I took my gun and vanished.
I have changed my name so often,
I've lost my wife and children
but I have many friends,
and some of them are with me.
An old woman gave us shelter,
kept us hidden in the garret,
then the soldiers came;
she died without a whisper.
There were three of us this morning
I'm the only one this evening
but I must go on;
the frontiers are my prison.
Oh, the wind, the wind is blowing,
through the graves the wind is blowing,
freedom soon will come;
then we'll come from the shadows.
Léonard Cohen
Weather systems would be nice, especially a little weather editor in the editor where you can create cloud cover for lack of aircraft support and fog and rain fronts to produce atmoshere specifically in one area, also it could be given times to rain etc.
Yep, I wish the wind will affect bullets and rockets http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

But then we will have to know the current wind direction. i guess this could be done by looking at a flag pole... but thats not your avarage equipment in battle http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Maybe the trees could move in the direction of the wind... (this would probably eat alot of cpu usage though)
I think to have an effect of snowing would be cool also. Imagine trying to complete a mission in a snow storm, it starts with gentle fluffy snow flakes then turns into a blizzard, everything is affected by it, mainly visibility and view distance. Helos and aircraft wouldnt operate properly, if at all.
There have been some great user made snow maps, but the atmosphere was lost without the falling snow feature.

Or you shoot a tracer bullet and see how much and to what direction it gets affected, and then you adjust your following shots after that. Or you lick your virtual finger http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I forgot commenting wind ...
it will be nice when wind takes effect e.g. in montains when u goes to edge or top and wind is against u .... u can fall etc...
things like dust storm, snow storm, trees branches break from wind, cars and especially truck cars affected by side wind, gust wind effect, etc etc http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
i want a better rain effect + sound http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Or, in heavy wind, make a howling sound that is louder at one ear than at the other.

Or if we have animals, like a lama witch i sugested in another thread, we could see the the wind direction by looking at his fur.
Why the partisan? Cause it's for the poetic aspect of the landscape with a wind effect.
For physic relates to ammos, I'm not sure it's not necessary.
Imagine the sound of the wind in halo drop, or when prone in elephant grass, or in the silence of the snow in the trees...
