any problem with us giving technical problems here instead of email? so far im up to the defend the base mission after the helo thingy, there seems to be a recurring 'missing addon sebnam_nv' but the mission still works, other than that its very good, the mission with the helo was pretty hard, i couldnt take out the t54's and ended up failing :/, the next mission the M60's are obliterated and the t54's come storming in, i think it would be a good idea to switch the M60's with the nam pack M48A3's as the reload rate on the T-54 is realistic (cant remember i think i put it around 6-8 seconds) and the BIS M60 has a reload rate of 15 seconds, not good for the americans (incidently the M48A3's reload in the pack is about 4-5 seconds i believe), other than that great work, its about time this was converted http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ill post any more i see as i go through http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The SEB Nam Pack&#39;s readme says that in MP there may be addon missing messages because OFP&#39;s editor did not identify everything when it built the ADDONS declarations.

Well, I discovered this problem when first testing out the campaign. I got errors about sebnam_wp. So I manually added that to all the MISSION.SQM files. Now I&#39;ll do the same for sebnam_nv. I&#39;ll fix this soon in V2.1 of the campaign.

Let me know if you get any other missing addon messages.

Anyone else getting the shit shot out of them on the second mission while in the helicopter. I&#39;ve only made it to the ground (alive that is) one time out of six or seven tries.

I think this part could be tweaked. The stupid helicopter needs to land faster and stop flying over all the soldiers.

Otherwise i&#39;m glad its been converted to use the seb nam pack. Good work.

Well, I got the campaign working thanks to Eviscerator, but I ran into a problem. After I complete the second patrol in the forest where you discover the enemy base to the west of the base it starts you off on a mission to capture the base. Well, I tried. Right after it loaded I got a "mission failed" notification and got sent to a POW camp. Didn&#39;t get a chance to do a thing in the mission, it only lasted a few seconds. Might be isolated since nobody else has reported it.

i havent got that far, im trying to survive the helo landing on the second mission, ive only seen it land once and then i didnt have enough laws to take out the tanks, i agree with Bronski this could use some tweaking, maybe making the huey land further away, and maybe only one t54, or two t54&#39;s and put 90mm recoilless rifles in the crates (and on a couple of the teammates), looks like converting to the nam pack 2 may be harder than it first looks, good luck avonlady http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Is there a way to get rid of the tanks ammo for its mg? That is what is tearing me up. Maybe set a countdown on a trigger so it sets its ammo to 0 so the helo has enought time to land then the ammo is set back to full.

The helo needs a chance to land. Maybe mess around with the units skill level. That would probably help. Sometimes its like you are regular army going up against special forces.

I&#39;m still glad it was done but i think it does need tweaking.

FSPilot
Jan 20 2003, 23:02
How about we get rid of the tanks entirely? lol
maybe I&#39;m just nitpicking, but the VC and NVA didn&#39;t have a real tank force.

Eviscerator
Jan 20 2003, 23:31
The VC didnt have a tank force, but the NVA certainly did, and they used it on many occasions, mainly the tet and easter offensives

Bronski the easiest way to survive that is to just not get on the helicopter http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif  It lands waaaay too slow, and does multiple slow circles over the tanks which = death unless you are really lucky.  I think I managed to jump out and not die one time.  Anyway, just not getting on the heli moves you on to the next mission. Even if you do manage to get on the ground in one piece, your law isn&#39;t going to scratch those tanks.

I have to agree those VC or NVA whatever, tanks are way too strong.  Besides the fact my law can&#39;t even scratch them they totally destroy the M60s.  Unless I am missing something, the M60s have to take them out because the AP soldiers (I don&#39;t even think there are any besides me) with the weak laws sure aren&#39;t going to do it.  I&#39;ve hit the tanks with a law in the back, the treads, underneath.. lol it doesn&#39;t matter.  They take no, or next to no damage.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on it.. I like the campaign so far despite the few querks.

Bronski
Jan 21 2003, 01:00
Is the next mission you get the defend the base one?

If so, what advice do you have for that one?

In regards to the tank force they should be removed since you are fighting VC on that mission, not NVA.

Virestar
Jan 21 2003, 01:22
The defend mission is next, and I haven&#39;t beaten it yet due to the tanks so.. no strategies here. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

There is really nothing you can do but "weather the storm" as you are given no units, you cant get in the tanks and all you have is an ineffective LAW.

Yep. tweaking it needs&#33; I tried the 2nd mission, and had the same results.

This is obviously because the helos in the campaign were changed from armored Blackhawks (that didn&#39;t exist in 1969) to Hueys.

Suggestions? I&#39;m thinking of changing the Huey in that mission to a Chinook. That should hold up more like the original mission.

Comments?

You could just reduce the # of tanks and take away their MG ammo.

Just my suggestion. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

It&#39;d probably be easier to just have the helo fly close to the tanks then immediately turn around and land.

theavonlady
Jan 21 2003, 08:21
OK. I took away the tank&#39;s MG ammo. I reduced the tank&#39;s skills to minimum and their armor to half. I switched to a Huey with a little better protection (door - do not open&#33http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif but removed its rockets and MG ammo because that messed up triggers when it fired on the tanks when spotted.

Now, I&#39;ve managed to get the helo to insert. However, while all the grunt&#39;s disembark, the squad&#39;s commander for some odd reason doesn&#39;t get out and the chopper flies to the next waypoint with the commander still inside. Idiot&#33; http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Anyone have an idea what&#39;s wrong? http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif I&#39;ve placed the unpacked mission files here (http://www.filefront.com/?filepath=/theofpfaq/missions/02.AirPatrol.zip). That&#39;s a major overhaul. The terrain is completely different. Village, mountain, jungle locations don&#39;t correspond.

Might as well just rewrite the whole campaign from scratch&#33;

Version 2.20 is available for download from the HOT NEWS section of The FAQ (http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/).

===================
Summary of Changes:
===================

2.20. Second mission, Air Patrol, was unplayable because helo was always destroyed by enemy tank gunfire. All MG type magazines removed from tanks to allow helo to reach insertion waypoint, with squad alive.

2.20. All tanks skill settings reduced to minimum and armor set to 1/3 to give player and AI a reasonable opportunity to destroy tanks with multiple LAW rounds.

i think the defend base mission might need some tweaking (3rd mission in), at the minute the T-54&#39;s slaughter the M60&#39;s and M101A1 and the explosions of the tanks kill nearly all the troops, leaving me with three laws to take on 3 t-54&#39;s and aboiut 3 squads of vc, not fun http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif as i said earlier switching the M60&#39;s to M48A3&#39;s will probably fix this, i just did a quick test on flat land with the M48A3&#39;s vs T-54&#39;s, the outcome was 3 T-54&#39;s destroyed, one badly damaged, 2 M48A3&#39;s destroyed, one badly damaged, so they are pretty evenly matched but of course with the inferior crewmanship and other factors the americans are marginally on top, but, in the mission the M48&#39;s would be sitting ducks and the T-54s come over a hill with lots of terrain to hide behind, so i think it would be balanced http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

edit: just tried 4 BIS M60&#39;s versus 4 T-54&#39;s and all M60&#39;s were destroyed for one T-54 loss

Wow, replayed the helicopter one and it works great now.. good job fixing that.

I managed to get by the defense mission, it is possible for the M60s to take out 3 of the 4 T54s but they need a little luck. Also another bug I found was the last T54 and its infantry squad get stuck in the back and won&#39;t come up and attack the base, so you have to go kill them and it takes 4 laws + some grenades to take out the tank. That really won&#39;t even destroy the tank, it just makes the crew jump out. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Those tanks are way too strong. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Couple more bug reports:

On the mission after defend, called Transference I had a load error: Sebnam_vh. However the mission ran fine with one exception: it would not end. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif There are pathing problems with the trucks, I don&#39;t know if that is what causes it. After a good 8-10min on 4x I had to use the end mission cheat to end it, it gave me a complete however and not a fail.

On the mission after Transference I got another load error: config.bin/CfgVehicles.sebuh_laMG
Once again the misssion appeared to run fine though, that is it started ok (didn&#39;t play it yet).

Version 2.22 is available for download from the M.O.M. section of The FAQ (http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/).

===================
Summary of Changes:
===================

2.22. Waypoints added for a T54 tank that previously remained in its starting position.

2.22. SEB Nam Pack&#39;s T54&#39;s were far superior to OFP&#39;s original M60 tanks. All missions modified by replacing the OFP M60 tanks with the SEB Nam Pack&#39;s M48 tanks.

2.22. SEB Nam Pack 1 addon name references in mission 4, Transference, to the UH-1H were corrected for SEB Nam Pack 2.

<span style='color:red'><span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'>Mission Debugging Assistance Needed&#33;</span></span>

Both mission 3(Hell&#39;s Fury) and 4 (Transference) have win trigger problems, as has been mentioned here already for Transference.

If you can help, the unpacked mission folders can be downloaded from here (http://www.filefront.com/?filepath=/theofpfaq/missions/missions3and4.zip). Unzip, with the "Use Folder Names" option set on, to your OFP&#92;Users&#92;your_player_name&#92;Missions directory and open with OFP&#39;s mission editor.

you mission 3 end trigger works fine; I can&#39;t actually play the mission (bloody 550 mhz) but I blew up all the enemy with triggers and it finished... most likely a single soldier is running from you or some junk, common fix to this is to set the allowfleeing command to 0 for each soldier so they&#39;ll run through their waypoints at all costs... I think :&#92;

on to Mission 4...

don&#39;t have time to check out #4 right now, but two things to check for it are a) are all enemy getting in trucks? b) are any enemy running from mission area?

I couldn&#39;t find where you had the camera initiated to disable it and watch the enemy get in the trucks... but the actual win trigger seems technically sound

The mission "Keep on killin" has a unplayable error. As soon as it starts it gives you mission failed and says you are captured ending the campaign.

The mission after Transendence works fine, no issues, there was a load error, sebnam_1a I believe. However Keep on killin is the next and is impossible to go past.

Great work on this so far&#33; http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi Avon Lady

I&#39;m very impressed of your work on the Vietnam 1969 2.0 Campaign&#33; Yes I know that originally Spanky-G made it and I let him already know how I appreciate his work, but I really happy to see somebody converting it to Nam Pack 2. As soon as the download of the Nam Pack 2 is finished I will play the campaign again and will let you know how I feel about it. AND you really have got 7 children&#33;? Unbelievable that you still find time to work on OFP. Thanks for you great effort&#33;&#33;

I reverted back to "Transference" to check out the new changes and wow, it completes as soon as the last VC is dead. Great job.

However I am still having a problem with "Keep on killin". http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif It fails as soon as it starts up (starts you as 2nd in a squad in the woods). I don&#39;t have a clue why. The "mission failed" comes on the screen and it takes me to "Captured" http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Keep trying. It can be beat but not easily.

There are 2 versions to this mission. Each has an intro cutscene. The 2nd version is played if you were the lone survivor of mission 2. It shows you running alone back to the base to warn of the impending tank attack.

Is that the cutscene you saw or the more standard one, where you and at least one other AI squadmate survived and there&#39;s just a general warning of the impending attack?

If it&#39;s the sole survivor version, I need to tweak it a bit so that SKILL and ARMOR settings are adjusted as in the standard mission version. Let me know.

AS for the "MISSION FAILED" error in "Keep on Killin&#39;", I&#39;ve found the trigger in error. Before I alter it, I need to try to comprehend what its actual intent was.

I started a separate thread (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard301/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST&f=7&t=26402) in MISSION Editing on this.

Summary of Changes:

2.24. Mission 6,"Keep on Killin&#39;", ended with "Mission Failed" the moment it began. A faulty mission end trigger has been deleted to resolve the problem. Corrected.

2.24. Other than different intro cutscenes, missions 3a, "Hell&#39;s Fury", is now equivalent to the mission 3 version of "Hell&#39;s Fury".

Hi again you Super Mom&#33;

I played yesterday the whole campaign on ver 2.23 again and really this Nam Pack 2 is awesome&#33; I like the textures of the soldiers very much they really give you the Nam feeling. Beside the bug in Keep on Killing which you already fixed (I had once an error message bomb.sqs not found, I hope you fixed that too) I found some other points to work on:

During the Mission where I have to guard the Tower right before I can go fishing tomorrow to South Vietnam, when the VC attack, just after I spot the enemy tank coming down the hill the mission is complete. In the original version I had to fight off the attack off the base and then the mission was successful. Now it and just after spotting the tank. (2-3 minutes max.)

An annoying bug is after playing the Mission Fast Attack and destroying all the tanks and trucks it says Mission Complete but doesn&#39;t end the mission you still stay in the mission. AND when cheating by "ENDMISSION" the cutscene of Fast Attack plays again and I had to play the mission again&#33; After completing it again successful it goes to the next mission but it jumps to the mission to attack the fuel station and not to the mission to support the citizens again the VC attack on the city. It just overjumped this mission. Then I played the mission (I think it&#39;s the last) where I fight off the attack of the VC of the new base established with the civilians and after the Huey finds me and lands near to the base it tells me I can go home now with honor and a medal but then and windows error message appears saying: CANNOT LOAD USERS&#92;THOMAS KROKOSZ&#92;SAVED&#92;CAMPAIGNS&#92;1969 VIETNAM V2&#92;CONTINUE.FPS ERROR NO ENTRY AT &#92;LANDSCAPE&#92;OBJECTS&#92;ITEM54.TARGETSIDE and the game crashed and returns to Desktop http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Ok thats all for the moment, and concerning Mr Spanky: He should be thankful to you&#33;&#33; You are making him even better known since a lot of people will play his campaign again or for the first time getting aware of his good work. And you always gave credit to him in the campaign book by writing that you "only" adapted his campaign to work with Nam Pack 2. Maybe his not happy because he wanted to make it himself. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

By the way: Are there any other good Missions/Campaigns for the Nam Pack 2? The only I found was the Mission on Ia Trang when attacking a convoy and stealing an ammo truck. The mission is not bad but really hard to win since a Huey comes to defend the convoy and there are no weapons around to take him down and there are way too much GI&#39;s.

Ok thanks again for your great efforts&#33;

Kroky

Oh I forgot something: It&#39;s a small issue but maybe not unimportant: I noticed a difference when playing the original campaign and the adapted campaign, that the fog is way less tense than in the original version. Maybe it&#39;s because it&#39;s for Resistance and the weather engine works differently. But I liked the very tense foggy and rainy atmosphere in the original version. It just gives you more realistic feeling like beeing in Vietnam. Now the weather is not humid and the atmosphere not that tense. Especially when fighting again the VC in the woods it&#39;s really terrific when you can&#39;t see more than 50m ahead when it&#39;s rainy and foggy but you hear the footsteps of the VC&#33;&#33;

Maybe you&#39;re able to tweak it a little bit.

Well you&#39;re allowed to use addons if they allow it and if you give them credit. His problem is that he didn&#39;t allow it.

It&#39;s like he made a bad movie in black and white, then copyrighted it and didn&#39;t touch it. But when someone comes along and puts it in color, boosts sales a lot, he throws a fit.

I know the difference between using an addon and editing someone else&#39;s mission or campaign, but i wanted to point out how the reaction of "the guy" was as ridiculous as bashing someone for using addons made by others.

When it comes to the comparison with editing a movie, there is no profit or loss of profit involved, it&#39;s more like updating a defunct, outdated, unusuable(?) program under free license. This campaign was dead already, and like many others i wouldnt have bothered playing it if i would have had to downgrade to nam pack 1 + misc addons...
If "the guy" hadnt ridiculed himself he would have had the respect from the entire community for the campaign, because Avon Lady never claimed anything else but to have ported the campaign.
Now, what does he looks like ?&#33;?&#33; Let&#39;s not be cruel...

I can understand Spanky being a bit pissed if the first he new about the update was when Avon released it but since shes been honest about its origins and never claimed to have done anymore than bring it up to date I don&#39;t feel hes been too hard done by. The original campaign was fun but it really needed the Nampack 2 makeover.

The one problem I have playing it is that &#39;Hells Fury&#39; mission. I&#39;ve now managed to finish it thanks to Avon&#39;s latest update. The problem is its still such a slaughter with all that HE flying and exploding armour. The only way I can find to survive is to run like hell and then watch as all my buddies get blown away. I&#39;ve never seen so many flying bodies.

Perhaps fewer armoured units and more infantry might make this one a little more satisfactory? Or is everybody else happy?

It was the normal version of Hell&#39;s Fury - managed to return to base with almost the complete squad. But this mission is just tough - I got crushed everytime I tried, and my squad mates droped like flies... I used the campaign cheat after a while, but I&#39;ll try again later.

All other missions so far were quite easy (I&#39;m now at the point were I have to do the shore patrol), some missions are even too easy in my opinion (for example the beach defense - just mow the boats down before they come near enough to return fire...).

The best way I have found to do Hell&#39;s Fury and still be able to kill some enemies is to run to the house closest to the incomming VC. Then go infront of it and go prone right behind the short (destroyed part) of the wall. You have great cover and stay away from the HE. You can pick off quite a few enemies from there and with their inaccurate aks, its not too hard to stay alive.

I think SpankyG is out of line. Avon has given him credit everywhere, in the readmes and before each mission. He did a great job with this campaign but I can honestly say I would have never played it if it had not been converted to SEBNam 2. He should be thanking Avon.. Just my thoughts on it.

Nagual
Jan 25 2003, 12:52
Hmm, Spanky G is not exactly out of line, but some of you are. It only takes a tiny bit of unbiased thought to get a idea of where he may be coming from.

Eg. How do any of you know that the original author wasn&#39;t doing the update himself? How do you think things would go now if he released a new improved, nampack 2 capable campaign, considering people are looking down on him due this?, any one here would be pissed off if put in the same situation.
How do you think an addon maker would feel if someone updated their addon before they could, making it difficult / impossible for them to continue work on that addon?, It looks like the author simply wants to maintain control of the direction of his hard work, a very reasonable thing.

Im not saying it wrong the campaign was updated, people are obviously enjoying it, but i do think the orginal author has the right to be a pissed of if he wants to be, and at least informed of the work in progress before its released.

Playing further into it and starting to feel there is a real problem with the armour balance. I don&#39;t know if it lies in the campaign or the nampack but it seems soviet armour just tears the US to shreds while infantry hasn&#39;t more than a snowballs chance in a conflict with armour.

After playing &#39;keep on killing&#39; several times those T54(55?)s just decimate the friendly armour and all the US troops in record time.

I can&#39;t remeber how spanky had things set up originally but something has changed bigtime that really causes problems for me at least.

I have no problems with people expressing their complaints to me. Unfortunately, his email to me ended up filtered into the trash bin because of the explitives he chose to insert.

Let&#39;s go back in time a week or two ago. I saw that someone was going bananas trying to get this thing to work with old SEB Nam Pack 1. So I decided to fiddle around with it to work with Pack 2.

When I saw how almost simple it was, I decided to share the changes with the rest of you. I did not remove Spanky&#39;s name from anything. In all of my announcements here and elsewhere, I stated that it&#39;s Spanky-G&#39;s campaign. Spanky-G is listed as the author on The FAQ&#39;s MOM section. I even refuse to make major modifications to the mission files in order to adhere to the campaigns original story line and intentions. I just corrected it to work with SEB Nam Pack 2&#39;s addons and fixed some mission bugs that were inherent in the original version.

Yes, I did add my name to the Campaign&#39;s overview page, but as second fiddle to Spanky-G&#39;s and not as an author.

In the README, I intentionally removed Spanky-G&#39;s email address so that he wouldn&#39;t have to be bothered with technical mails about the conversions made to get the campaign working.

Is that stealing his work? Please don&#39;t make me laugh. I would be willing to go to court to prove him wrong.

In fact, had he not been vulgar in his email to me, I would have had no problems removing my name from the overview and readme and hand over the campiagn for his continued support and attention. I need this like a hole in the head&#33;

However, under the circumstances, since this guy can&#39;t communicate like a decent human being, I&#39;m not about to do him any favors.

A public apology by him might convince me otherwise.

The only changes made to that mission are:

1. Removal of a trigger that caused mission failure immediately on startup. I documented this here (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard301/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=26402).

2. Now uses SEB&#39;s T54s instead of Ash&#39;s T55s.

How do you think an addon maker would feel if someone updated their addon before they could, making it difficult / impossible for them to continue work on that addon?, It looks like the author simply wants to maintain control of the direction of his hard work, a very reasonable thing.

Im not saying it wrong the campaign was updated, people are obviously enjoying it, but i do think the orginal author has the right to be a pissed of if he wants to be, and at least informed of the work in progress before its released.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>
I forgot to answer this.

If he puts out hsi own newer version of the campaign, I will remove my version for downloading, plain and simple. I don&#39;t care whether it&#39;s based on the corrections I made or not.

Again, this still is his campaign - not mine.

And so far, from the campaign itself, he&#39;s gotten nothing but good publicity.

Mhhh... got a problem with the mission "Preemptive" (the one where you take the boat and patrol the beaches... I think I killed all enemies, and everything is green but the 3rd objective (patrol beach) and the last two (they obviously need objective 1 to be completed). I&#39;ve driven any squaremeter in front of the beach, even left the boat and ran up and down the beach, destroyed all vehicles, etc... but that damn objective won&#39;t green up. Can&#39;t finish the mission because of that. Anyone else having this problem? I guess I keep missing the trigger... maybe increase it&#39;s size a bit?

Anyone got a few minutes to test Ash&#39;s tank versus SEB&#39;s?

Just put one against another on the desert island and see who wins (best out of 5? ).

Ash T55 link: http://ofp.gamezone.cz/unofaddons/T55-East.zip

If this is the solution, I&#39;ll reinstate it in the code.

Took 8 RPG-2s to destroy both the SEB T-54 and Ash&#39;s T-55G.
I used RPG-2s so the results would be more accurate. It took 2 laws to destroy them both.

my conclusion: they&#39;re both equally tough

Ok boys, I have just started this campaign. But even on the start, I have following suggestions:

0) Why music stops during first cutscene? Total silence everywhere, and I only read some dialogue text on the monitor. Horribly boring&#33; If I can´t hear voices, at least some music&#33; That silence is horrible.

1) in the first mission I had been going close to the leader and he was killed. However, the leadership was assigned to me. Now the big problem came, because I wasn´t able to follow designated waypoints and to complete mission&#33;&#33;&#33; I could run across that forest like some i.diot and nothing happened. I had to restart mission. PLEASE fix this bug&#33;

2) as I said, the leader (captain Randy) was killed. But he was our leader in the second mission again  http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif  although I understand, that for the campaign his name must "stay alive"... however, what about realism?

3) that cutscene after 1st mission. Hey, that mission was the real piece of cake&#33; No one of our soldiers was killed (on my second try, descripted above)&#33; So why so depressive dialogues??? And that letter on the beginning of the 2nd mission "...they were everywhere" or what... http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif 2+2+3 VC´s that is a lot of soldiers for you?

3.5) About that VC´s. Why are they staying in the forest like some targets? Do you call this trap? I could see them earlier than they saw me, even although I was RUNNING&#33; They should lie silently between trees, why not to change their status on "Danger" for lying position? I hate them and I promise on the American flag I will kill every of them, but I know that they are/were clever and experienced opponents, so I respect them and I want to respect them in the OFP world&#33; So please make them as tough warriors, not a couple of greenhorns, which I can kill with one long burst, because THEY WERE STAYING IN THE LINE??? (really happened to me and I wasn´t lucky believe me). In addiction they should lie with bigger distances, this way one grenade is enough to kill two of them. Even if we know that hand-grenade is not so strong explosive... mission designer, PLEASE think about this&#33;

next suggestions will follow  http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Ok, I did a 4-on-4 with the SEB tanks - the T54 won 10 of 10 (all highest skill flat terrain on desert island). The Us tanks always fired first - and missed. They are extremely bad shots&#33; Thats why they get killed so easily - the fight and may be armoured as their opponents, but they miss too often. Overall, good suggestions. However, right now, We&#39;re still at the stage of eliminating bugs in the mission code.

Also, at least for now, it is my intention to retain the mission&#39;s gameplay to the author&#39;s original intentions. The biggest exception made to this rule was in mission 3, Hell&#39;s Fury, since the T54/5 models seem to whip the pants off of US M48&#39;s - even worse for the original M60s. I notched up the SKILL levels of the US armor and downed the SKILL and ARMOR levels for the T54s just enough to make the mission somewhat fair (and folks are still whining http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif ).

So, keep those suggestions coming but I really do have to put them at the bottom of the todo pile for the moment until the campaign code is absolutely stable.

Maybe it&#39;s because it&#39;s for Resistance and the weather engine works differently. But I liked the very tense foggy and rainy atmosphere in the original version. It just gives you more realistic feeling like beeing in Vietnam. Now the weather is not humid and the atmosphere not that tense. Especially when fighting again the VC in the woods it&#39;s really terrific when you can&#39;t see more than 50m ahead when it&#39;s rainy and foggy but you hear the footsteps of the VC&#33;&#33;

Maybe you&#39;re able to tweak it a little bit.

You&#39;re doing a great job - the campaign is great, but it has some glitches: like returning to first-person view for a moment after playing the outro instead of terminating the mission right away, and the bugged briefings - obviously created with a briefing generator. But these are cosmetical (lipstick anyone?) &#39;bugs&#39; that don&#39;t really influence gameplay.

Cviceny simpanz, I&#39;m afraid a lot of your observations are as much to do with the limits of the OFP engine as the campaign itself. A number of the things you describe are common, even in official campaigns.

The one practical suggestion I can make is when you find you have a command and don&#39;t know where to go is order your men all>move>next waypoint and then just follow them. Its a trick I&#39;ve had to use a lot.

And Avon, sorry if your feeling put upon. Its just that we love you and we know you&#39;ve always been there in the past.

Yes I changed my visibility to 1100m but this was even before playing the original Vietnam Campaign for Nam Pack 1. So this cannot be the reason. But as i wrote it&#39;s a small issue. Don&#39;t bother about it.

Aside from the crash, did OFP at least find the addon PBOs in the manually defined Addons folder? This would be uselfull info for other players.

About the crash, you may have only yourself to blame. After all, the SEB Nam Pack is renowned for its crashes. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

it still loaded all the ofp/res/addons, although i suppose it could have been because it was using a shortcut of resistance (copied my dynamic range stuff and used it as a template, changed names/overwrote the addons folder etc), i dont have the time to do it again, but if you want an ofp with no ofp/addons folder you would need to install 1.00 then 1.75 then 1.91

You might also want to check file Flashpoint.rpt to see if there&#39;s a report of the crash appended at the end. If there is a report and it&#39;s something we mortals can comprehend, let us know.

Another suggestion about crashes. Someone else found that their crashes on certain missions stopped after they discovered an old version of the Ia Trang Island PBO in their addons folders and removed it.

So, if anyone is crashing and they have old versions of Ia Trang Island or maybe SEB Nam Pack 1 addon files, try removing them, restarting OFP and see if that resolves the problem.

Very small cosmetic suggestion.

In the mission where you&#39;re checking trucks and cars, Gatekeeper I think, shouldn&#39;t at least some of the drivers be Vietnamese?

theavonlady
Jan 27 2003, 21:00
I&#39;ll look into Gatekeeper. What are they? Russians? OFP&#39;s civilians?

Also, someone&#39;s brought to my attention that mission 10b, Beach Head, has completely messed up triggers.

Version 2.28 is available for download from the M.O.M. section of The FAQ (http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/).

<span style='color:red'>IMPORTANT&#33;</span>

1. The contact information in the README file has been updated. Please read carefully.

2. As can be seen below in Summary of Changes, mission 10.b, Beach Head, went through a major overhaul. I would like to ask of as many of you as possible to beta test the mission to determine if there are any errors remaining that make the mission unplayable or prevent it from completing successfully. TIA. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Summary of Changes:

2.28. Logic in mission 10b, Beach Head, was totally incorrect. Mission failed sensors were triggered, even though the beach was taken. Objective 2 town to northwest is totally unoccupied and there is no completion trigger when town is captured. Mission totally revamped. Briefing was not displaying plan text.Corrected.

2.28. Civilians in mission 13, "Gate Keeper", changed from standard OFP civilian units to ones from SEB Nam Pack 2. Corrected grammar and spelling errors as well. Corrected a win trigger to mark mission objective as completed when mission successful.

2.28. Various grammatical and spelling errors corrected in mission 7, "Ethics".

Mission 15 - Guard tower; ends as soon as the enemy tank is spotted.

Mission 18 - Spec Ops; the intro stays on my sniper in the forest, it won&#39;t end unless I press the space bar.

For all that have problems with the correct installation of the nam pack - you can get an installer here (http://www.suicidesquad.co.uk/addons/SEB-VietnamPack20.exe). Installs everything in a seperate mod directory and provides the desktop shortcut to start it. Also features an uninstaller.

The shortcut say &#39;OFP with Vietnam and SES addons&#39; - thats because we did the installer for our squad mates who have our addons pack in another mod folder. Ignore that and name it whatever you like, it works without our addons and it does only install the SEB-Nampack 2.

The addon 88 message is because of the Editor Update.

Do you have Kegetys&#39; Editor Addon 1.11 installed and all prior EU versions removed.

Are you sure there was an "nvag" message? Maybe it said something else? I need to know exact addon names mentioned.

Also, what mission did this happen with?

I assume you&#39;re using the latest version of the campaign, 2.31?

yup it was the nvag text (?) and the latest update of the campaing http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif ok maybe it can be a problem with the eu because i have all versions installed (no problems occurd because of it earlyer)
