View Full Version : Operation vietnam
I read on a website that BIS is making a new game called "Operation Vietnam"
It is like Operation Flashpoint, only in Vietnam, and we will be able to pick up our wounded and stuff like that.
They are using the same engine and all.
It should be pretty cool.
Where did you read this? Maybe this should be in news discussion?

This is not directly a BIS project but a mod made by Seventh:
http://www.operation-flashpoint.net/vietnam/
The relations between BIS and Seventh are a bit ambiguous, but OV is AFIK not directly a BIS product.
This should go to addons & mods or Breathe projects. I'll move it to addons & mods since it is a far more general project then just an O2 made addon.

they are getting help from BIS as Team says

I'm sure the reason the webpage hasn't been updated since March 24 is because the team has been busy working non stop on the mod. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
I've been checking out this mod since the website went up last year some time. I sure as hell hope it's not dead. But right now, my attention is focused on the SEB Nam pack 2.0 and it's release. I'm sure SEB's nam pack will tide me over until OpV is relased.

This is just speculation, but one possibility is that Operation Vietnam will be tied in with Independence Lost and the new game engine it will use. Because right now it would have to be extremely good to get people to pay money for it when they can just go download for free the SEB Vietnam mods. In other words they will need to be able to offer some new things that haven't been seen before, which is why I'm assuming that it will use an improved OFP game engine assuming that it's still being worked on.

Hi folks. Operation Vietnam is not dead.
We are working on it as allways and it will be something you havn´t seen before. This isnt just a mod like many others, I think many of you knew that but anyway. We will update the OpV page when we feel that its necessary, we dont just want to show you a lot of models that we wont release before the actual release. We want to show you our product.
Lots of people now thinks that we dont have anything to show because of the lack of updates but I can assure you that we have lot´s of things made and more is to come.

This indeed is very good news. I started to give up hope of ever hearing anything again about this mod, though from the start I had my heart on this one. Great news it's still alive!
COOL!! I game based of OPF, only about VIETNAM!!!
Can we do sniping and enemy harrassment like Carlos Hathcock did in that Elephant valley place?
Make sure to make the sniping realistic, more realistic than in OPF!

Is there any chance that this might not be a mod, but just a whole different game, such as Vietcong?

it's a good thing to let the people wait untill they die from excitement and then show some impressive news or screenshots. but you have to be careful! the mod could also be forgotten if you wait too long with the news. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
