I've played around with the new Addon Manager utility (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard301/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=4;t=23589). It's nice but I personally have minimal use for it.
I've lately been using the -mod parameter on the command line, as I've been categorizing my addons into separate folders (WWII, Vietnam, Cars, SciFi, etc.). This gives me the advantage of not loading all of my mods into memory when I don't plan on using the vast majority of them for any given game session.
Right now, this means having to create separate desktop shortcuts for each and every one of these. Ugh!
What I would love is an OFP program launcher that let's you select the mod folder(s) you want for any given startup.
Better yet, since a startup might require more than one -mod folder name, I would like such a launcher to let me define and store profiles. Each profile simply contains the names of all the mods folders (1 or many) to be included when starting up OFP.
I would also like such a mod folder manager to do other tasks, such as check for duplicate addon files in multiple folder (all or those defined in a given profile). I'm sure there are some other features that will come to people's minds.
Is this a good idea? Any comments? Have I inspired any programmers out there? http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
