Just a quick note to say that we now have a website @<hidden> http://www.freewebs.com/bibmi/ with a few new screenshots etc.
let me know if i have made any really obvious mistakes http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The site is looking good so far. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
So is this a site to bring all the various UK based mods and addons together, or a whole new mod in itself?

Its all new. Its Bibmi doing an updated and extendended version of his SAS, Marines and Paras. With new oxygen soldier models and weapons.
Yeah...unfortunately we don't have a dedicated vehicle addon maker...All i'm good for (I hope) are soldier unit addons....I would love to see some quality vehicle addons for British units...The team and I would then happily add some armoured infantry, tank crews and RAF units...

You could perhaps modify the G8 Tornado addon (with their permission of coarse) and convert it to a RAF Tornado...maybe in the process converting the MW-1 weapons dispenser on their Tornado (which they erroneously labeled as a JP-233) into a real JP-233 which looks a lot different. Also the point of aim (the aim dot) for the gun/rockets should be lowered a bit so that the Tornado doesn't dive so low when the AI fires the JP-233 (which basically are rockets with no or little velocity). I have a .cpp file that I can give you where I got the AI to use the jp233 on the G8 tornado quite effectively (with the stock G8 Tornado the AI doesn't the JP233). The only problem is that the Tornados dive so low (often they dive down as low as 10 ft over the ground) that they blow themselves up because they get too close to the explosions from the JP233's. Adjusting the aim dot should fix that I think.
A nice RAF Tornado like that would provide excellent airsupport for your British troops, plus the Jp233 in action is a very impressive site when you are on the ground watching it exploding over enemy troops and armor.
Perhaps later on, if you find someone willing to do it, a Jaguar mod could be created. Wasn't someone doing a Super Puma and a Lynx awhile back? I wonder what happened to those projects? http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
At any rate, I hope to see some of your updated British units soon. They are so far the best I've seen overall.

It would be good to have a Tornado (perhaps with the Brimstone anti-armour missile aswell as the JP 233). It would also be cool if we could find someone to do a reskin of the chinook and the Apache (its not that different after all). I think we may well have to wait unitil the falklands mod is out before we get a lynx (it will also be interesting to see if they include a puma - the argentinians used it during the conflict, and if they are doing it why not do a reskin?).

Actually there was a reskinned RAF Chinook. It wasn't the best (the RAF symbol looked a little stretched) but it wasn't bad either. It should be up on one of the addon sites. If not, I can send it to anyone who wants to host a site for British military addons. I'm not sure if it's Resistance compatible though. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

yeah , the French ALAT decided that the Gazelle light combat vector was still good enough for service and there are already a really efficient doctrine with those , so they'll be kept in service for sometimes
as far as iknow , the Tiger and Gazelle components of the ALAT will act differently
the gazelle is a versatile reconnaissance , utility and light combat helicopter wich is used in the situations that don't ask for high fire power but for rapidity and versatility (a gazelle can either be mounted with HOT AT Missiles , mistral short range AA missiles , 20mm gun and many board weapons such as 7.62 mg's , while it's not an heavy transport helo , the gazelle can be used to insert light recon units and to transport light charges and to serve as liaison vector , while the tiger is an heavy airborne combat vector used mainly for close support and heavy antitank duties where heavy firepower and good defensive abilities are needed
vade_101
Nov 17 2002, 18:07
The Army Air Corps and the Fleet Air Arm both still use the Gazelle, the RAF don't really have a need for reconaisance helicopters these days as the divsional support tasks (recon, anti-armour operations) are all carried out by the AAC
oh, and if you do a puma can we have it this paint scheme please http://www.flashpoint1985.com/ikonboard301/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The RAF Chinook.... it can be downloaded from Flashpoint CZ (http://ofp.gamezone.cz/) and its OK..... somebody did a reskin of the Apaches.... but they were pretty poor to be honest...... it was the same chap who did the Bradley reskinned as a Warrior job.....
But Hurrah for the Project UK Forces and the Falklands Mod teams!!!! Providing British Forces for Flashpoint!
Just one little request to vade_101......... could you just slightly alter you're current Royal Marine and Para's so they work in resistance please???
Interestingly enough.. the guy who retextured that RAF Chinook (NZXShadows) was with the Falklands Team for quite a while.... Last I heard he joined the US Army..

vade_101
Nov 28 2002, 10:16
Release date? can't be that far off, bibmi wants them out before he goes back to SA for a month in a few weeks.
Over the past couple of days we've been having some grey hairs over the machinegun problematic, and we've come to the point where we are considering adding a 3 round burst mode and slightly lowering recoil to the LSW/Minimi/GPMG to get the AI to fire the weapon like a soldier.
We know this is not realistic seeing that neither of the above weapons have that trigger group. But we have deemed it necassary because AI machinegunners have a very bad habit of firing a full magazine or belt downrange and not hitting, because recoil ensures all rounds going above the targets head.
At the end of the day we find this more realistic, seeing that firing short bursts is what soldiers are taught to do, and that no Para/RM or SAS trooper would ever be so lousy shots themselves.
Before doing this, we'd like to hear the communities opinion on the matter. Do you agree, not agree (and why)? And do you have any suggestions as to how we can overcome this problem (we have already tried a lot of different approaches without much luck)?

Well anyway, the mod can use my RAF Tornado GR4 (not a perfect GR4 I know) if they so wish, or if not then thats fine as well http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif I believe it does use the JP233, but as Miles says, not perfectly alas. Oh, it also has afterburner and warning sounds as well if I remember http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif Oh, and there is a version with some Brimstones on http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif Well, enough talking- theres a picture and you can download it HERE (ftp://www.gamezone.cz/ofpd/unofaddons2/RAF_Tornado_GR4.rar)
http://mysite.freeserve.com/oliverkj/RAFTornadoGR4large.jpg
Oh and I also did that retexture type thing of the Jaguar (with bombs and missiles- thanks Footmunch http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif ) into an RAF style greyish colour, which the mod can also use if they wish http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif

Thanks a lot. I know I'm a yank and all, but man I love the Brits, they have some good kit, especially the Royal Marines. I got to meet one this summer at Marine OCS, since they do an exchange. The PT is run my a Royal Marine Colour Sergeant. He was the meanest mother I have ever seen, I forgot his name.

Lol, try challenging him to a drinking competition http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Crippler, nice work with the Tornado and Jag, haven't had a chance to d/l them yet.

Drinking game, hell no. Beer is like water to them! I may drink a lot, but not compared to him. He was pretty damn intimidating, especially in his PT shirt which is a wife-beater shirt. I would never even expect a salute from him when I get my 2nd LT bars next year, but that's only cuz they only salute officers they respect(from what I understand).

hmmm this thread has been dragged up again http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/smile_o.gif
I think it's no big secret that UKF has slowed down alot, we have been having many problems mainly due to inactive members, you may of realised Bibmi has kinda vanished at the moment, aswell as the fact that Iv been too busy with work and the same with Vade_101.
As we are a rather small team it does rather cut off both our legs, however saying that things have been moving along with DeLiltMons Landrovers, they are looking pretty sweet so far.
Also as the work on the new site is taking longer than we hoped, we will set up a temporary homepage at our new address, linking to our forum we have recently set up, for any of you that may still be interested.
It also seems likely we will be taking things slowly for the time being, we have no choice at the moment, with our current team, but we do intend to keep going up untill ofp and hope when it finally arrives, suddenly we will grow new legs or something, unless of course suddenly an army of expert texture artists, coders jump to our aid, but we khow likely that is, not very http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif
Just opened up the new forum, the temporary homepage is at
www.project-ukf.com (http://www.project-ukf.com)
I may ask something to do with the Land Rovers.
Is any intentions on creating a modern version of the pink panther?
http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/ecars/Mil/LandRover/PiCs37/PP01fq.jpg
It used to be part of the SAS in the sixties, but I belive that it still in service now with a few modifications, one of them the camo http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
I was just wondering, that's all.
It is not a request.
EDIT: Here is a link (http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/ecars/Museums/BMIHT/PinkPanther.html) to some little info, so you guys can see that this vehicle is for reall.
I can say that a Pinkie is in the books, however, dont hold your breathe for it.
However I did goto Duxford Military Vehicle show, and get some nice close ups of one, ideal for textures http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
It will more than likely be DeLiltMon that does one, if he doesnt want a break from landrovers by then.
Nice one.
Land Rovers are a world. You can get so many diferent variations and uses that it would make sense to dedicate some good time to them, but I understand that it can be really exausting and become boring to work on the same vehicle for a long time.
I'm looking forwood to see some stuff released, the teaser was great, and I'm happy with geting a land pack released with some decent choppers.
The Land Rober pack is great aswell.

Iv got good news, and bad news
The Infantry/Royal Marines/ Paras release has been pushed back further. That's the bad news.
The good news is when they are released the extar time will be worth it, we just started to redo the textures http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/crazy_o.gif
see how the webbing looked b4, and next to it a ammo pouch how we now have them looking, the plan is to work over all the dodgy parts in this way.

Looks top notch,Maybe you guys could let me in on some of this action.J/K
Those textures are explicit guys! Fantabulous
Now i don't want you releasing anything until this mod will kick ass! Get nice and close to the lovely people at CoC and nick their mortars so our royal marines can have a 81mm, very useful. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif
Remember that while everyone loves those Super duper vehicles that can do everything and take a couple of years to model, the actual players will be using the SA80, GPMG and wearing DPM. What i liked about the FDF mod was that altthough they had a good selection of high quality vehicles, you could see that a lot of effort went into the individual rifles that really added to the ambience. Oh and with a sea King this mod is going to be fantastic. If what i have said sounds really obvious and is redundant don't take offense, i don't know how this mod is going so i'm just probing with some general ideas. http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/biggrin_o.gif

damn. Now THAT is English camo allright. Keep up the good work. And oh, you guys probably dont realize this, but putting a pink rover high on the to-do list could garantee your OFP-immortality http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/wink_o.gif
Bloody excellent - that is really top quality work!!!
Just one query - you've got what looks like a nicely-textured '58 pattern belt on the outside of the jacket. Now i know in some areas of the British Army there is (in my opinion a rather antequated) preference for doing this (such as in PT/Assault course in DPM's where its practical if you need to haul some lardarse over a wall!!) but i'm not sure many soldiers wear one one the outside of a combat jacket in real combat operations, especially wearing webbing as well!
(NB, i'm speaking from experience as a former army cadet a few years back while i was at school, (left a CSM after 4 years, get me!) - have been on several camps attached to reg army units, one of which was to germany on an attachment to RAC/BAOR during the buildup to Kosovo in '99 when i saw a lot of training taking place during which time i don't think i saw anyone sporting this particular fashion!!)
I went from what my brother told me, but he has only been in the army 2 years, and his regiment for 1 year, in 2RTR.
But yes from looking at pictures I can see what your saying CrispPacket. So as we are gonna create more pouches and kinda have them appear random, so some units you place may have an extra ammo pouch, or various other webbing.
So we can do that aswell for the belt. good idea?
Yeah that sounds good - i like the idea of more "unique" soldier models!
Here is the latest on the retexture/remodel, next to the old textures/model.

Finally some normal UK infantry. And finally a reason to use all those fancy British aircraft which until now had little reason to see the daylight in a mission.
Pity there's no good UK tanks/apc:s yet. Well one decent Challenger I think.

I was in 2RTR for ten years and only 1RTR (tossers) wear belts over jackets.
I you want belts over jackets (please no) then make it a soldier 95 webbelt as 58 is no more.

Will the Para's have a regular parachute? Or will you give them that parachute which was released which you can turn etc? Also, any pictures of the para guys?
Iv not had time to do much in the past week due to work, but have added a few lil bits, and added some shading/creases, to bring it a little bit more to life.
Thanks goto Ebud for advising me the best way to achieve the natural creases in the jacket and trousers.

I do hope that some custom animations are used, if we are going to have the British army in the game we actually need to make them move like soldiers! http://forums.bistudio.com/oldsmileys/tounge_o.gif
